I don’t think anyone is denying racism is not a problem any more in the UK, but if anyone can point towards an incident where half a stadium is chanting racist slurs or one individual is subject to racist chants whilst arriving at the match in the last 30 years I would be amazed.
It’s a whole different stratosphere.
It seems like there is very little/ no appetite for change either especially when the bloke running the show pretty much denies everything and implicitly blames the person complaining.

But the events in Spain over the weekend just prove how endemic racism is in sport, particularly against people of colour.

I think real progress was made, but a lot of it is being undone by what’s happening politically across the World with the powers that be encouraging a hard turn into right wing politics and toward fascism the World over.
This is what happens when 20 years of right wing dog whistle politics is normalised and absorbed by the general public.
I fully support him, he didn't deserve this.
I would love to see him in the premiership, but if he does move it would seem so unfair that he has effectively been hounded out of a league by racism.

Well While not many may agree with me but Rashford has actually shown enough growth Centrally as striker this season so there would be enough games for everybody depending on form .

Yeah, it was more Courtois and Vazquez that were actually defending Vini. In general I'm surprised Benzema and Modric didn't do more, weak show of captaincy. Casemiro would have defended Vini more forcefully and called for them leaving the pitch

It is a deep rooted problem in society. It is not just Spain, look at Italy and Balo for example, Portugal also had a Porto (I think?) player abused not too long ago. However Tebas’s comments as a person with influence, just bad.

No, because then the racists win. They want him out because he's gifted, brilliant, they cannot stop him by conventional means and when they kick him to smithereens he dares to have the audacity to call them on it. And then the local sports press riles up the atmosphere against him and the racists get a free hand in the stadium to chant what they want.
The best statement is a comprehensive reform of how to tackle, indentify and punish racial (and identity based) abuse in general in stadiums. And a reform of legislation to go with it.

Turns out Tebas has been for many years a open fan of the far right franco nostalgia party - Vox.
