Should just go and had Brighton a blank cheque book - There is 3 or 4 gems in that side that would flourish in Red

Think i've been on record saying I would take him because he's a good player to have in the squad but certainly not at £55m. That's just madness.

Tom Roddy and Paul Hirst (both Tier 2) suggested in their recent report that, whilst Chelsea want £70m, prospective suitors don't want to go higher than £47.5m (i.e. what Chelsea paid for Raheem Sterling when he had 1 year left in his City contract). Ben Jacobs (Tier 2) suggested something similar by reporting that prospective suitors value Mount at £15-20m less than what Chelsea are looking for.

He’s got a year left on his contract, has had a shit season, will want huge wages, he’s worth £15-20m. Chelsea are delusional and we’ll be the idiots to pay up.

nah.. Mount's people looking for a landing spot. happens every early summer. nothing to do with our game imho
It does have the ring of contract negotiation rather than Utd. Similar sort of stuff to Sergio Ramos all those years ago.

Actually agree with that currently. In some ways, reminds me of the absolutely elite players that left Spurs around the same time and didn't really get that recognition until they continued to flourish in better sides...Modric, Bale, Walker. Even Bale was pretty maligned still back then as just a pace merchant with a shot on him.

Who you thinking from the BHA side as the must- sign players?

Mount isn't my first choice - but he does offer something we lack. He is actually a goalscoring midfielder. In a functioning team, he will chip in with 10 goals pr season

Rip our season if the midfield is Mount Casemiro and Bruno

If they had Marina on board they would have sold him for 100m

We've got Bruno for that, surely? In terms of what we lack, we don't have any cover for Casemiro or a midfielder that can progress the ball, thrives resisting the press and is effective in possession. De Jong, basically.

How exactly is £55m considered cheap for someone who's had a terrible season and has only 1 year left on his contract?
He's a reasonably young England international, if he'd had a good season he'd probably go for more. Though you're absolutely right - 55m isn't a bargain by any means, it's just not a rip-off (in my opinion).

Plus, I don't think it's fair to say he's had a terrible season - every single Chelsea player has had a terrible season, due to absolutely terrible management by Boehly. So sure, Mount had a poor season, but through any fault of his own.

Okay, I'm starting to worry now. Why are we interested in him again? Don't tell me we are swapping our current average for new average.
Very worrisome. Glazers parting gift ? I’m surprised ETH would want him.

We don’t lack that as Bruno is more productive than him.

On the other hand these are the things we actually lack that Mount doesn’t provide

Playmaking and contribution to the buildup from deeper positions
Press resistance
Upgrade on RB
CF
Passing / sweeper GK

I’ll be okay with Mount + Kovacic for 50m
They’d be an okay upgrade on McFred, but just ok. I’m not seeing them push us on, more just a mild improvement to the squad strength. I couldn’t see either of them displacing Case or Eriksen. We could do with a midfield signing who’s a clear upgrade on Eriksen.

I think £40ish million would be a decent fee for him.

Underwhelming as feck! Hopefully we sell Fred & Mct, so Mejbri gets some minutes. Mainoo as well, unless he goes out on loan.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Has Mount ever played as an 8? Whenever I watch him for England or Chelsea, which has been quite a bit, he plays further up the pitch. I don't get why we don't just sign a recognised no. 8 rather than making moves like this. Meh, as always the way we operate just doesn't really add up.

Currently, Mejbri is not at the level we need. We overrate our academy products too much.

Extremely underwhelming if we actually go for Mount. Surely there's better options out there?

I would give away Fred+McTominay for another midfielder but Mount doesn't look like the one playing between #6 and #10. Whenever I saw him he was drifting into more advanced/wide positions. Smells a bit like Sabitzer, what would be a big mistake.

I think Mount could be a good signing, but the success or failure of this summer is going to be determined by our activity in relation to a striker and a keeper.

I think it's a bit underwhelming but ETH is all about improving players in his system. Maybe this is the right way to go instead of spunking massive money on big names who don't give a hoot like we have done for a decade.

I think we've tried to jump steps on the ladder to the top and we've fell flat on our face. Maybe ETH is about not taking shortcuts and building the squad out where we don't have players like Maguire and McFred and once we're at a certain squad level and depth that's when we see the big transfers come back. The cherry on top if you will.

Basically in conclusion mount isn't my choice but I have faith in ETH and whoever he brings in on a permanent deal I think he knows what he's doing.

Improve who? Most players are beyond the point of salvaging. Those who could improve, improved. E.g. AwB.

I really quite like Mount as a player to be honest, aside from the current shitshow at Chelsea he's usually a very effective player.

Certainly don't think he's even remotely what we need though. Weird signing if we do get him as I'm not sure where he fits?

I assume he will replace Eriksen in the starting lineup. I don’t think he’s the ideal player that we need in that role, though.
