It’s weird but when he runs he reminds me of Rui Costa. Not saying they are the same player but there an elegance. Also when they are both in the final 3rd I feel like he makes the right decision a majority of the time like Rui. The fact he has a mixture of positional traits appeals to me but ironically maybe why he hasn’t really established himself as the main man in any team as a senior yet.

I'm a bit surprised many don't rate him. He looks like the type that could go to Man City and he absolutely wouldn't look out of place due to his talent. Working under that quality of manager would also probably refine some of his choices and he'd take on a new level of tactical awareness and pressing like many players seem to there. But the point is you need the talent to begin with as you can't just create that as a manager.

He hasn't had it that easy, playing under one of the more negative managers to grace a strong football club in Simeone, then goes to an abject Chelsea side with a League 1 manager. Not to totally excuse him, he could and should have done better in Spain.

Yeah I’d agree that he always seems to go under the radar when top players are mentioned. But a Neville comment stood out to me last night in that in the flesh and live Felix was impressive. This I can see, some players make it look effortless.

I think the point about the manger and maybe to expand on that the environment the player is in definitely has an effect. I’m thinking of some of the characters he has to play with at both club and international level. Sometimes young players on the cusp of breaking out maybe have to feel trust or one of the main guys to have an effect regularly. Give him the freedom to play and watch him flourish.

His issue is that he doesn’t have an easily defined position — and I wouldn’t confuse that with flexibility. He isn’t a a CF, he isn’t a winger, or an attacking midfielder.

SS from a bygone era.

That said, he is clearly talented big ultimately flatters to deceive. Some point to playing for Atletico or Chelsea had led to his poor scoring record, but isn’t the same true for the national side? He’s only ever shown he can score goals in the Portuguese league and that’s a very small sample.

I think that would be a chicken and egg argument. For me players normally get moved because they fill in another position when needed or their particular traits are more beneficial to the team in other areas.

With Felix or any players it would be the mangers perception of them and of course the system employed. You say he isn’t any of those roles and maybe that’s true but he can be effective in all those roles I think.

Your analysis of him suggests you think his is a more a striker maybe and while I think he can get goals I wouldn’t rely on him to be my main goal scorer. At the minute he’s a moment of magic player.

Sounds obvious but in a settled attacking team he may be more consistent.

Forget everything else, his problem is that he's not productive

I thought getting out of Atletico might help in that regard but it highlighted the fact he was the problem all along instead

One thing he does really need to do is pick his next team better. I know Utd and Arsenal didn't want to pay the fee Atletico wanted, but he seemed all too happy to jump into the cluster feck that was Chelsea, with noises about signing for them permanently. His move to Atletico wasn't much better either considering the football they play.

This. He's a better player than the likes of Alvarez. He needs to go to a good attacking team and he will shine.

Talk about jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire - feels extremely harsh to judge him given how dysfunctional Chelsea are.

Also worth noting that he's our top scorer since he joined - obviously this is an extremely low bar, but given how atrocious we are it'd be harsh to call him a flop.

Can't even compare the two:

You can. Not sure Portugueses football is the gotcha you thought it was.
More relevant example is Atleicos attack going up 20 notches after loaning Félix to you lot.
It’s confusing talking about Chelsea anyway. In one hand we are told your attacking play is fine, you just can’t finish then you’re making excuses as to why Félix has flopped up front.
I say you but it’s a smaller fraction of your fanbase I do admit.

He's a very odd player. Not sure exactly where he should play, as he's not really clinical enough to play as a 9 (other than when he plays against us apparently), he's more of a Second Striker but we don't really see those anymore. I wonder if he could play the position Pep had Silva playing a few years ago when he was playing with two 10's. Is he disciplined enough? He certainly has the attributes with his dribbling, first touch, and from what little I've seen of him he seems like a decent passer of the ball. If he could do that and was cheapish like sub 50 million, I think he could be a good addition, however, I think anyone paying 100 million for him would be wasting their money.

Don't think he's very good. Cracking goal though.

Would love him here at a reasonable price. Having his international team mate Bruno in the side could bring out the best in him. The technical ability is definitely there. Sadly, getting him for a reasonable price is impossible.

Before Lampard the reason for your disfunction was the inability to convert chances. And he was one of the culprits

I mean, I'm just being a bit cheeky since you said "no team will ever be a good attacking side with Felix in the XI". Anyone who watched both Felix and Darwin in Portugal on a regular basis would never in a million years put them at the same level - Felix was miles better at a younger age. The Benfica team when Felix joined was astonishingly good to watch - and they were completely revitalised by Felix joining from the youth team partway through the season. I've consistently called Darwin a flop even before Liverpool signed him - comparing the two is honestly crazy.

Obviously I agree that success in the Portuguese league isn't clairvoyant or anything - but he's been put in absolutely awful situations for his talent ever since leaving Benfica, and if he were to be used correctly I'm still convinced he'd be world class.

Sure he could have scored more. He's also been dropped into a dysfunctional team halfway through the season and despite that has underperformed his xG by a grand total of 0.03 per 90.

Cannot fathom how anyone can watch Chelsea regularly over the past few months and think Felix is a problem.

Aren't you one of those who replied to me saying Sancho is great and Antony would be great too when we were about to sign them? Forgive me for taking what you say with a pinch of salt

Think he's excellent personally, and would suit a ten Hag system perfectly.

I doubt he's going to stay at Chelsea or Atletico, so someone is going to get a really good player next season.

Feels like he does a lot without doing anything at times.
He’s all aesthetics, that’s why. People can talk about managers and systems all they like but this is a forward who has only scored double digits in a domestic season once in his career — his breakout season in Portugal.

He needed out of Atletico bad. It isn't his fault United were too broke to loan him and Arsenal thought it too expensive so its wrong to pretend he picked Chelsea out of bad choice than pure necessity. And Atletico as a move made sense given Someone's record with strikers.

If we are looking at 2 additions for the attack then Kane AND Felix would be great signings, no doubt about it.

Can't for the life of me figure out why some people seem so convinced he'd be a good addition, particularly as he comes with a massive price tag and doesn't really offer anything we're currently lacking.

I thought Simeone was the problem but they've done pretty well since loaning him out and scoring goals freely. You got to look at the player. All fart and no poo.

I think it's because he tends to turn up against us and therefore people assume he's quality when actually he's generally pretty shit with end product issues. Given we already lack end product it seems odd people want a player that clearly has struggled for years with it.

I guess they want us to continue to struggle to score goals. He's got a cool name though.

I think he would suit playing with Rashford and Garnacho, and I could see Fernandes being just about compatible despite operating in, or from, the kind of spaces Felix would like to utilise. I don't see him complementing Antony or Sancho.

Generally, I don't think he is the kind of player we would benefit most from - the team is still too static in attack and Felix is ultimately someone who's going to predominantly look to converge on the ball. We could do with someone who will lead the line, play against defenders and offer depth and penetration more.

Agree Felix is an excellent player though. He's wonderful.

I like Felix and wanted him here over Wout as it would have been perfect time to guage his performance in Ten's system. Alas he chose Chelsea and now it's too late as we can't afford the experiment next season.

Not sure I agree we cant. If we cant get Kane, there will not be that mang great options. Players like Oshimen and Muani will be in high demand from clubs like Bayern, PSG and Real Madrid.

If it is between Felix and Ramos I would easily prefer Felix.
