I think this needs a seperate thread for discussion really. It's nothing to do with his contract etc etc.

According to Fergie Rooney's injury "could be worse that first thought".

Breaking on SSN.

Maybe our medical team aren't ambitious enough to fix it?
Citys medical team would have sorted it by now.

Wayne's going to have to put up with such digs at him until he does the business for United again.

Why did we allow the little shit to feck off to Dubai for a holiday when his ankle is knackered?

Surely he should have been working with the medical team/physios to get him back to full fitness?

He looked pretty fine from all the pictures. His ankle was not in the protective boot either

We all love United
I reckon we need him for the derby game, even if he's fit enough only for the bench. He's a quick healer though, isn't he?

Is it just me or is Fergie trying to keep him out of action as long as he can using the ankle injury as excuse, hoping the fans have short memories and have forgotten the contract case when he eventually returns? It does look a bit fishy to me.

Giggs starts training Mon. M.Owen out 4-5 weeks. Rooney injured & resting. Hargreaves "was making progress but is back with physios"

DiscoMirror #MUFC Fergie says Rooney likely to miss Manc derby:
"There's no recovery as he's been away. I think it may be longer than that (3 weeks)."

That's just bizarre.

Yup it's certainly strange. For someone as important as Rooney "not to be getting treatment since he's away" is unbelievable.

And also he's not been wearing his ankle cast in Dubai so surely it could not have gotten any worse if he's walking around perfectly normal?

No! He needs to come back only when he's 110%.

Remember the last time he injured himself and was brought back too early - Bayern? He's been a shadow of his former self ever since.

Exactly. I saw pictures of him diving into a swimming pool!

He pocketed 160,000 quid for that week in Dubai, didn't he? lucky boy.

Welcome to Manchester reception committee
Didn't that article quoting Gullitt say it could be a couple of months, not three weeks. Found it, from the Mirror:
United initially said Rooney would be out for two to three weeks. It now appears the ankle injury sustained in training last Tuesday will keep him out until December.

Read more: Ruud Gullit is surprised Wayne Rooney has stayed at Manchester United after his dig at his team-mates - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk

At a guess, they decided to let the swelling go down before looking again. So basically no harm in him having a holiday (apart from any fan annoyance factor).

Sounds like bullshit. He'll be back for the Derby.

it could also be SAF giving the fans a chance to calm down about him. With Berbatov and Hernandez in great form he knows he's not TOO in need of Rooney at present.

he wasn't a shadow of himself because of his injury, he was a shadow of himself because of what he was doing to his missus

Ok lets not be silly, hes our player whether we like it or not. With owen injured and macheda looking well rusty we really could do with a fit rooney, one more injury and it dosent look great.

One long slumber party
Stoke, our youngsters on Tuesday, Valencia away, we'll be fine if we don't be complacent once taking the lead
It will be Bursa away and Valencia at home. We have already played them at the Mestalla.

He needed that break you know away from everything and it was another demonstration of SAF's astute man management to allow him the time off. I just hope he used it well and didn't put much stress on his troublesome ankle

Whatever your thoughts on Rooney, every player at our club earns a frigging fortune and they all got paid for 52 weeks a year. This will inevitably include time spent sitting round swimming pools, whether you like it or not.
Indeed.

JOS gets paid 4 million quid a year to be....tall.

OK. I'll not go there again :D

If he's out for 2 months (which is when the transfer window opens) he'll have pocketed around 1.5 million in wages while doing feck all.

Perhaps he could buy us a half decent forward in January and then all is forgiven.

I think he deserves whatever he gets for that goal at Anfield. As far as I'm concerned for that alone he should get a pension too and an ambassador role at the club when he retires.

Are going to bring us salary updates for every player who ever misses a game out injured? As some kind of public service?

That's been the hallmark of our performances this season. Tricky next few games with only 2 strikers fit
