Sheffield United Football Club (nicknamed The Blades because of Sheffield's history as a steel city, Red and White Wizards and Red and White Army) is an English professional football club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Sheffield United was founded on 22 March 1889 at the Adelphi Hotel, Sheffield by the President of the Cricket Club, Charles Clegg (also the President of Sheffield Wednesday and later the Chairman of the Football Association).

Sheffield United's greatest years came immediately after their formation — as they enjoyed an unbroken 37-season spell in the top flight (which remains a record for a newly promoted team) won the League Championship in 1897/98, and were runners up in 1896/97 and 1899/1900. Since then Sheffield battled relegation to lower divisions, with the nadir proving to be the 1978/79 season where they were relegated to the Third Division. They enjoyed better years after the turn of the millennium — narrowly missing out on promotion playoffs for the Premier League in 2003/04 and 2004/05 (eventually securing promotion in 2006); as well as reaching the FA Cup and League Cup semi-finals. However, they were again relegated to the League One on 30 April 2011.

Sheffield United's most noteworthy rivalries include city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday (dubbed the Steel City Derby), Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leeds United, Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United. Sheffield United play their home games at the historic Bramall Lane, the oldest major league ground in the world, having hosted its first game in 1862 a match between Sheffield Club and and Hallam. It also hosted the world's first ever floodlit football match on 14 October 1878.

Both Greenwood & Pogba have to start. I’ll be absolutely lost for words if they don’t.

Only real question mark for the lineup is who will be in midfield with Bruno and Pogba. Everything else should be straightforward, though hope Martial and Rashford do better.

Tough team selection. In theory you want width against a back three, but we aren’t blessed with much quality there. I’d be tempted to match up and push the wing backs on. Could be an opportunity to overload the left-handed size with all of Williams, Shaw and Pogba, allowing Rashford to partner Martial up top.

    ................ DDG
    . Lindelöf Maguire Shaw
    AWB Matic Pogba Williams
    ............... Bruno
    ....... Martial Rashford

I’d play Romero and be ending DDG’s United career, but never going to happen.

You're too quick to drop de gea, but yeah, I get where you're coming from.
Yeah, come on. Need a half decade of shite and Henderson playing at Chelsea before we move him on.

I was supposed to be at this game - the only match I would've made this season :(

Sadly our fullbacks are still so toothless with attacking threat.
Shaw got some decent runs, but only okayish cross from Bissaka. That's hopeless.
At this rate I'd rather Williams play for his attacking threat and accept his defensive limitations.
Would like to see Williams play this game and get a chance.
Bissaka needs to work on his attacking game though. Or at least his crosses.

Pogba and Bruno  not even a passive manager like Ole can hinder these two individual talent. It would be interesting to see if we still struggle to break a decent team down when they give us possession. Not implying that this will be an easy victory though

The only thing I feel positive about is the fact that we will have 2 competitive games under our belt before this. Fingers crossed Fleck & O’Connell are back.

They're playing Wednesday-Sunday-Wednesday with a threadbare squad. They have a cup QF a few days later. Their best player is ineligible. Two other important players are a doubt. Start with Bruno and Pogba and we will run circles around them. 3-0.

Matic should start with Pogba and Bruno in midfield. Greenwood for James.

    AWB - Bailly - Maguire - Williams
    McTominay
    Fernandes - Pogba
    Greenwood - Martial - Rashford

That’s what I’d go with, Pogba and Greenwood defo need to start after tonight’s showing. I’d play Williams over Shaw, Luke was poor against Spurs and I put Bailly in for Lindelof dunno if he’s got an injury or not but he hobbled off. I’d give De Gea another chance but one more mistake that costs us and he’s defo got to get dropped, too many chances now.

    Based on the last game.

    De Gea

    AWB Bailley Maguire Williams

    Matic Pogba

    Bruno

    Greenwood Ighalo Rashford

Lindelof picked up a knock, Martial looked lazy again. Bruno and Pogba need to start. James didn't offer enough

I wouldn't drop Martial for being 'lazy'. He is the exact player who needs to play. Martial always struggles for a little to get back into the swing of things, he needs games.

We’ll win this. Pogba must start of course, and we’ll improve as we blow the cobwebs off. I’m looking forward to it.

Whatever line up enables Pogba and Bruno to be on the pitch from the get go.

Be that McTominay, Matic or Fred picking up the pieces I don’t care just get them together.

Holding back Greenwood for James any longer would be criminal; we don’t have the EUL games to give him game time going forward.

The crowds aren’t there & it’s a strange situation for experienced/inexperienced players alike; this could be his Rashford moment to stake a place.

    Pogba obviously must start.

Now this is the game that Bruno and Pogba should start together.

We can play Matic next to Pogba. I know a lot of people want it, and to be fair he's been decent as of late, but we mobility. Pogba will still roam and the player next to him will need to be mobile enough to cover.
