Association Football Club Bournemouth (nicknamed The Cherries and Boscombe) is a professional football club based in Bournemouth, Dorset. The exact date of the club's foundation is not known, but there is proof that it was formed as Bascombe FC in the autumn of 1899 out of the remains of the older Boscombe St. John's Lads’ Institute FC. Nicknamed The Cherries (Dean Court was built adjacent to the Cooper-Dean estate, which encompassed numerous cherry orchards), the team traditionally played in red shirts with white sleeves until 1971, when the strip was changed to red and black stripes, similar to that of AC Milan. The club was renamed in 1923 to Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic F.C. in 1923, which was the name until 1972, when it becomes A.F.C. Bournemouth.

Bournemouth have won the second and third tiers of English football, and were twice runners-up of the fourth tier. They have also won the Football League Trophy, and the Football League Third Division South Cup. Bournemouth have spent the majority of their history bouncing between the third and fourth tier of English football. Under manager Eddie Howe, they have risen through the pyramid; the 2015–16 season was Bournemouth's first ever in England's top division. Bournemouth's biggest rivals are Brighton & Hove Albion, Reading FC and Southampton FC. They play their home games at Dean Court, Bournemouth — currently known as the Vitality Stadium.

We’d be crazy to rest Varane and Casemiro right now.

we play Tuesday > Friday > Tuesday > Saturday the last game being City. We need to wrap our most important players in cotton wool over this period and not overplay them

We’ve two games in between where we can rest them that aren’t in the PL, though?

Bournemouth at Old Trafford....Give Casemiro a break and give Garnacho another start ahead of Martial/Antony just to mix in some players and have a bit of rotation

we shoudl control the ball well enough that we can rotate some players and use the whole squad

good to see the young kid Mainoo on the bench today

So happy with the win today knowing that Bournemouth at home was next. Easy 3/4-0 result.

I have never understood the obsession this place has with resting players for the sake of it. Most of the players have barely played much football in the past couple of months. Stop acting like the players are on the ropes.

Just because you guys double your heart rates just by the thought of lifting your fat arses off your beloved armchairs doesn't mean the same applies for professional footballers.

    Full fecking strength.

No way... We need to win the EPL game. Should be able to rotate comfortably against Charlton.

It's Bournemouth who are currently losing at home to Palace. We should be winning easily regardless of who we start

You are right but the sad reality is that we are having troubles scoring goals and that is multiplied when the starters are not playing. We still have not reached the right balance of players and cohesion. As such, the next game must be our main focus from the next 3.

Might be full strength for this one if Dalot and Martinez are ready to start. Quick turnaround for us but we have some Cup games coming up where changes can be made against a struggling Everton and League One Chartlon who haven't won a game since 5th November (two wins on penalties in the EFL Cup).

I'd like to see us make 3-4, maybe 5 changes against both those sides in the cup competitions (different positions so we can rotate close to half the side each time before Man City). But this game has to be full strength provided everyone is fit enough. Dalot and Martinez can be subbed if not ready for 90.

    de Gea
    Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro Eriksen
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Martial

Should be a comfortable 2-0 win, but realistically we should be turning it on with our current form and scoring three or four at home again. Bournemouth are very much below average and will probably be dragged even further into the relegation battle next month. They're somewhat fortunate that Everton and West Ham have been so shocking but I don't expect that to last.

    :lol::lol::lol:

I'd go full strength too and if Dalot and Martinez are fit then that's 2 fresh bodies.

    De Gea
    Dalot--Varane--Martinez--Shaw
    Casemiro--Eriksen
    Antony--Bruno--Rashford
    Martial

The only one I'm a little worried about re fatigue is Casemiro but play him here and rest him in the cup game. Hopefully if we manage to get the game wrapped up we can make some early changes and give Casemiro some rest.

    No resting.

Newcastle have Arsenal in a few days and Spurs have Arsenal and City back to back in a couple of weeks. We need to ensure we have points on the board if/when they drop points.

Should be another three points here.

Hope we go full strength or at least close to it. We can rest players in the two cup games before Man City.

Start with a full strength team and then make changes later in the game. We can make changes galore for the Charlton game. I’d persist with the same back four with Martinez back on the bench with the view of bringing him in on at some stage in the game & getting him ready to start the Everton cup game on Friday & City derby the following weekend. Unsure if Dalot is back for this one. If he is, then same with Martinez - on the bench with a view to bringing him on at some stage in the game with both the Everton cup game and City derby on the horizon. Rashford has to obviously start and Fred has been putting in some decent cameo appearances off the bench so wouldn’t be too surprised if he started this one. ETH was singing his praises at FT today.

    DDG

    AWB - Varane - Shaw - Malacia

    Casemiro - Fred

    Rashford - B.Fernandes - Garnacho

    Martial

Subs: Heaton, Lindelof, Martinez, Dalot (if not fit, then Williams), VDB, Eriksen, Pellistri, Elanga, Antony

Score Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Bournemouth (obviously realistically we should be winning by a bigger margin than 2)

If Dalot and Martinez are ready, then go with our best 11. They'll have time to rest when we play vs Everton and Charlton in the cups and be frest for City game.

Yup. Just like obsession with 29 year old players and resale value.

Agree with this, it's a priority fixture and nobody wants to be chasing Top 4 if we drop out again. Competition is fierce.

The game to rest players is the Charlton league cup match on 10 Jan because let's face it who cares and we have City 4 days later.

We go 3rd and have a game in hand (over Newcastle), if we win and Arsenal beat Newcastle.

That should be a massive incentive to smash these lot.

I know spurs play again on Wednesday but we'll have game in hand over them then.

Quick turnaround for this match...but it applies to both teams, and I would always favour United's squad over Bournemouth's.

3 points and a goal for Antony would be perfect.
