He has to mix it up. We have too many good players not getting starts. Bring in Sanchez, Lukaku and Fred, rest Rashford, Martial and Matic.

Jones is better than Bailly though.
What Jones has had over Baily this season is that he's been more available to play otherwise Jones is a disaster. Even a poor Bailly is better than Jones.

Watched him the past few games under Ole where he had the chance to show his stuff and every game he's had a dud in him.

?? You are willing to give every player a clean slate except Jones?

Bailly did his usual bombscare impression in the game he started and Jones has taken his chance when it came.
Jones hasn't taken any chance. He proven to have a dud in every game he's played under Ole. He's lucky Smallish us injured and Bailly suspended.

No, he will start pulling peoples hair.
Nothing wrong with a bit of hair pulling. ;)
Though I'd rather hold back on the hair pulling, in the event that we are behind and need to switch the play - at which point we introduce hair pulling, name calling, elbowing, kicking when the ref isn't watching, etc.

Honestly confused why quite a few of you want us to field our 2nd team. We had plenty of rest and our schedule is not too busy. Am I missing something here ?
Welcome to the modern day football fan, where you rest players in cup competitions ...in order for them to play in another match... in order for them to try and qualify for a cup competition.

We basically walked our way through half of the season but suddenly all our players are knackered and now need 10 days full rest for them to be able to beat Burnley at home.
The fact we’re away to Arsenal in the only competition we realistically have a chance of winning is not important.
What’s important is beating Burnley in order to maybe qualify for a competition for next season.

Not too fussed about the FA cup this year but I really want Ole to get the job full time so I want him to win it. I’m confident he’ll go all out for this and treat it as another chance to pitch himself against a top team.

If we beat Arsenal, it will at least give us something to go for should we go out of the champions league next month. Nothing worse than playing for 4th place from Feb onwards...

I hope they’re all sitting around watching clips of Rooney, Ronaldo and Nani tearing arsenal a new one on the break, Ole saying “There’s our game plan, right there”.
Or they can just remind themselves of what they did last year at the Emirates.

That would involve thinking about Mourinho and relying heavily on De Gea
We pressed at the start to take a 2 goal lead. Then broke for the third. Three good goals. If you look at the second half against Spurs this team is bound to fall deeper and be under pressure.

We also still held out despite being down to 10 men. They have beaten this Arsenal side before and can do it again.

    He is injured.
I am not sure he is. There is something about how Ole said it that suggest that he was telling the truth. Also, United YouTube released the training video where Fellaini was involved and didn't look like he had any injuries.

    Red Card for Casemiro!
Bellerin injured- a big blow from them. Who do they have as a replacement right back?

Can see Lukaku, Bailly and Sanchez starting this one but it'll be tricky balancing between rotation and picking a strong enough team.
Lichsteiner and Maitland Niles have both played at RB, and Arsenal can shift to a back 3 with Koscielny, Sokratis and Mustafi. I don't think Bellerin being injured is a big deal for them.

What we did with (forget Ronaldo) Rooney, Park, Nani was completely on different level to what we did last season.

Jones being more available than Bailly is nonsense.
The only thing Bailly has on Jones is that his name is not Phil Jones, and some are still hoping and waiting for that day he magically becomes a top class center back.
Bailly started ahead of Jones in Mourinho's last game against Liverpool, but warmed the bench in Ole's first two games while Jones was trusted more, started ahead of him and put in two very good defensive performances. Jones took his chance, Bailly got his against Bournemouth and unsuprisingly handed the spot back to Jones. If Jones is a disaster or something, I wonder what Bailly is. Bailly has a long way to go before he should even be considered ahead of Jones.

None of those players are Ronaldo or Rooney. Lingard, Martial and Pogba did play last season, and played well.

They played well but Solskjaer shouldn't be hoping for repeat of last season. Btw, I wasn't talking about 2009 semi finals. It was 2009-10 season when we counter attacked with Rooney, Park and Nani.

It doesn’t matter. These players have done it just last season so thats all the belief they need. That is worth more than what a united team from 10 years ago did.

SUBS - Sanchez (Mata), Lukaku (Rashford), Dalot (Shaw)

    Arsenal 1 - 2 Man United
We go 2-0 up within about 30mins, Martial and Mata.
They score just after half-time, Aubameyang, and DDG has to pull off worldies for the final 20mins as we hang on and just about get it done.

    Spoiler alert

Not sure whether that will give confidence or make them nervous considering how many chances we conceded. De Gea will be high on confidence though.

The same thing happened away to Spurs just last week. They can do things better but at the end of the day they went to the Emirates and scored 3 times. They held out even with 10 men. They have the best goalkeeper in the world behind them.

Rashford, Sanchez, Martial and Lingard should be our front 4. They won't be able to handle that.
Nah if we play a front four it means changing the midfield shape that’s worked so well with Pogba/Herrera/Matic.

Should we rest one of Matic / Herrera? It felt like they ran out of gas last 2 games!

Have a feeling they’ll score first early on, and then we’ll get two quick fire goals in the 2nd half to win 1-2. :)

    Rash and Pogba again.

We have good break between games isn't it? Most of the first 11 played on Jan 2nd and rested for reading game which was on Jan 5th.

    So Jan 2nd, 13th, 19th, 25th is a good enough rest I guess.

No he's not. Jones is not great by any means but Bailly is a disaster. His positioning and impetuous nature, not to mention his wayward passing and unnecessary risk taking make him a liability in defense. He may have all the talent to be a top CB but he has not progressed at all in the last 3 years. Also at the moment the Jones/Lindelof combo is working fairly well so why disrupt it unnecessarily? Until Smalling becomes available Jones should be partnering Lindelof.

We should go for a similar approach like we did against Spurs. Put Lingard or Sanchez in the middle and have him mark Xhaka out of the game. Martial and Rashford to exploit the space behind their full backs. Arsenal won't play as expansive as Spurs but there will be plenty of chances for us to exploit their weak defense. One thing I'm happy about is that Auba will be on the left wing so it will be Lindelof and not Jones who will come up against him.

Balls to resting players, this is a great opportunity to progress in the cup while also dumping out another potential winner. Change one or two players at most.

And if Lichtsteiner is coming in for the injured Bellerin, we will have a field day down the left with Martial and Rashford's pace.
