Midfield 2 or midfield 3.. that is the question.

If Pogba isnt fit enough to start, it should be a 3 .. same as today..

    If Pog can start,
    Fred and Pogba ...
Matic or Andreas in there with them?

I'll go with 3.. Pogba further forward.. running down the middle. front 3 along side him.

Hope so too, but I’m pretty sure he will go for Fredba as a double pivot with Pereira as nr 10 unfortunately, as long as Pogba is fit for 90 mins. Think Matic will struggle or be ineffective against Arsenal as they are quick technical players.

Asides from that we are probably favourites against Arsenal, hope the players will treat it as a big game and smash them.

Can't wait to see Martinelli vs AWB.

Man's going to crush that kid's confidence.

New manager bounce? It's been a couple of weeks now so not sure about that. They'll be up for it as they always do;it's Utd and we're massive rivals obviously:rolleyes:

McT will be missed but Pogba, Fred and Pereira can cope with their midfield. It's Auba that's always a worry.

"Unai's at the wheel." from the club which made a PA about Ferguson losing his marbles or somesuch back in the day. I want their bitter blood.

Which means we'll get a "Mikel's at the wheel"...

I'm wary of Arteta, I'm sure he's an excellent coach, he's been working under Pep for a while now. That being said, I think our front 3 should annihilate them on the counter, especially with Pogba back. I live with an Arsenal fan so this is going to be very sore for one of us.
He could be the second coming of Jesus, but he’s not going to coax the level of improvement Arsenal need in such a short amount of time

We should be absolutely dominating them and anything less than a win won’t be good enough, especially with upcoming fixtures

Dunno why we’re all confident, they were good for a point at Old Trafford. We need to play a lot better than that fixture.

Agreed, we need to be keeping pressure on Chelski. We could even go top 4 if we do away with Arse.

Feeling really confident about this game like most of the forum. Trust our collective arses to be handed to us.

Hopefully they struggle with the positional play Arteta will try to implement.

Feeling pretty confident for the match.

However this reminds me of the match against them after the phenomenal PSG away match last season. Confidence was sky high and everyone thought we were gonna smash them. Hope we'll this time.

Hopefully the extra rest plus the fact that Arteta has had very little time to work with them should give us an easy win.
This is the most confident I have been feeling for a win this season and I hope we do not play like crap even when we can counter them.
No Mctominay is a blow, but if Pogba can play our midfield should be good still.

I predict 4-1 to us right now. Martial, Rashford, Greenwood all scoring and maybe a set piece goal from Maguire or Lindelöf.

True about that. We missed so many chances in that game and then De Gea just gave them a goal. Also don't think it was a pen for them at all. It was strange since Lukaku had great form with 6 goals in 3 games and looked like he was finding form. Then he missed 3-4 great chances in that game and got injured after it and there ended our good form. Rashford had at that point also lost his form even if he scored the pen against PSG and Martial and was out injured.

I do feel that Arsenal is much worse right now and are very open for counter attacks. Although Arteta might see that and go for parking the bus against us which I think is the best tactic they can use.
Still he will probably try to play Spanish/Pep attacking fotboll against us and that should suit us perfectly.

Yeah it was a pretty weird match imo.

I don't think he would try to implement Pep football at Arsenal yet, they just don't have the required players. Try to play that kind of football when your players are not good enough is just pure suicidal imo. And everyone know we're deadly on the counter, even City under Pep lost to us.

He'll probably try to play like us in the big matches I think. Direct with a lot of pace. They have some very pacey strikers and it'll suit them much better imo.

However their defence is a joke tbh. Hope we gonna smash them this time.

Think we will win this by 3 or 4 goals. They will approach it with the mentality of a big team, trying to attack and get players forward which is what we excel against. They also have neither the midfield or defence to cope with our counters.

4-0 to United does seem the most likely outcome all things considered.

    Yeah, I'm going with 4-0.

Unfortunate timing for us to player both Everton and Watford just after they got new managers (and looked MUCH improved as a result). Arsenal now too.

At least their soft underbelly is still there.

Worst possible result for us that, if Arsenal play against us like they did for 80 minutes today they'll beat us which wouldn't be so bad had they won today because at worst we'd only be 4 off Chelsea, now though that gap could be 7

You can also bet on Leno performing miracles in goal after that howler as well

I seen enough from Arsenal today that will cause United plenty of problems and I doubt United will get the rub of the green in the manner that Chelsea did today.

You thought Arsenal were that good? I thought Chelsea played terribly and Arsenal were ok that first half!

Arsenals confidence must be shattered after today so I expect is to blitz them on the counter attack

The law of averages suggests we are guaranteed losing this. If they had got something from today then I'd have been more confident. Feck Pawson.

I thought their aggression and pressing was impressive yes and something I could see us struggling with

Hopefully we line up deep and compact rather than try a high press

Extra days rest. Pogba fully rested as was AWB. Forwards all on form. Counter attacking masterclass please Ole. Arsenal fans won't accept anything less than them attacking us. Just need to be clever when we get chance to break.

    I'm going 1-2 to us.

The defeat may have hurt their confidence somewhat, along with the new manager bounce effect.

Also, if Arsenal go at us like they did Chelsea today, we have the players to make them regret it.

I'd feel a lot more confident if McTominay was fit, no guarantee Pogba will start either. We got away with Matic and Fred against Burnley as they had no interest in pressing or playing football

Arsenal looked really tied in the second half..
Cant read too much into that.. and 3 days is normal-ish and nothing new..

but if they are tired, it'll be an added bonus.

Well they will be more tired than us. And we are in better form. And we are a better team. And they can't win a game of football for love or money.

    Arsenal 4 - 0 Man United.

Just kidding. We'll do a number on them if we apply ourselves like we did against the other big boys.

I'm going 3-1 to United cause Aubameyang always scores.

And we should have. Missed golden opportunities and Xhaxa had that bizarre fluke goal(a random long range attempt with the ball suddenly changing direction catching DeGea off guard) and that dodgy penalty did us.

I feel sorry for Arsenal having to play this Manchester United team. Arteta would wish he had stayed with Pep.

Based on their performance against Chelsea it will be a harder match than it would have been a month ago. That said I reckon the forwards will look forward to having a go at that back line.

Arsenal could be three points above relegation if they lose on Wednesday and results go against them.
    Thats mad to me.
