    I told you
And you seem so proud. The thing is, you based that off nothing other than being a negative Nancy because if you compare the performances of our front four and defense compared to theirs, you had nothing to go on. Going into today we had 32 goals for and 23 against. Arsenal had 26 goals for and 30 against. Today was just a really really really bad day that I would like to forget about as soon as possible...

Watched the game late in California here, what a load of shite. Lacking quality, lacking intensity and as usual lacking some balls(testicles). We have many issues but I have to shout out De Gea in particular. What has happened there? He's gone from brilliant to awful in the last season or two. I would honestly drop him now, too many errors, no presence from set pieces, not even great at shot stopping any more. Give Romero a go.

same shit different year i guess. I had recorded this game cautiously optimistic and went to bed but doesn't look like i have any reason to actually watch it. We only turn up against top 6 sides and all that.

Looks like he was perfectly right with his prediction eh?
Yes, and he's very proud of it. Results can happen, but he was basing it off nothing but being negative and that's why it bothered me. Nothing going into today suggested this would be the result. He acted as if Arsenal had this great defense meanwhile going into the match we were 32 goals for and 23 against while they were 26 for and 30 against...

We'll win this by a big margin. I predict 1:4 our away victory, I may be on the optimistic side but I have no doubt we'll win this. We know how to handle them. Both clubs are a bit down but we've had a lot more positive signs lately then they have. As far as playing potential goes we're well matched but we have a lot more cohesion within our team than them. Safe bet is us to win this.

Was I wrong on this one! I guess Arsenal are not a "strong" club anymore, or we would have played a lot better and wouldn't have lost. We still have the upper hand on them, they're not able to keep up the consistency, all is not doom and gloom.

Sorry buddy, but you will not turn me into a negative nelly for this game. :smirk:
I have been consistently negative before matches (this season), but I am positive for this one. We have a front 3 in good form, able to score 2+ goals per game.
Then you have AFC who are terrible. Their new manager is untried and untested. They led against CFC, then reverted to type. Some of their players are so bad, that their own fans boo them!

I will also add: no matter how hard some of you try, none of you will be able to reduce my mood or confidence level for this match. I am positive for this one and expect to win by several goals. :D
As MUFC fans we should expect to see teams in poor form (like AFC), put to the sword.
And it's new years day...let's have fun and save the grumpy/negative mood for if we lose. :)
    What was the score?

Nope . Anyone that had watched their two previous matches would have known this will be a hard match. The overconfidence by some of our fans before this match was very strange predicting scores of 4-0/4-1 like we're some top team just because we beat two farmer teams. Ole has never won three matches in a row but yes I'm the negative one.

Arsenal's tactics last night were very interesting. Their front 4/5 pressed us high and quickly and their defence stayed in a very low block. So basically they just handed us the midfield on a plate.

Same old story though for us. We don't have the tools to unlock a low block. So easy to stop us really. Teams won't leave huge spaces in behind with our pace up top. We don't have another plan.

Oh, I see. So you made your 2-0 claim based on Arsenal's 1-1 tie with Bournemouth and their 2-1 loss to Chelsea while in the same time span we beat Newcastle 4-1 and beat Burnley 2-0? That makes total sense now. I completely understand why you would say their front 3 would be too much for our weak defense. You see, I didn't know you were basing it on a time period where we outscored our opponents 6-1 and they were outscored 3-2...

Here's the thing, if anyone thought this game would be a walk in the park they were being idiotic. It's United vs Arsenal. Anything can happen. But to try and make a claim like you did was nothing more than being negative and you had nothing to base it off. If anything, our season would suggest that we would win that game seeing as we hadn't lost to any of the traditional "top 6" this year...

Agree. The failure was our players not adapting to counter those tactics. We very easily could have played through the midfield much quicker and we would have found a lot more chances. It is like we are trained to escape pressure and pass ourselves out of pressure, but some of our players look mentally exhausted and scared and just want a break after that. Defence just wait until all forward passing options and runs have stopped, then wonder why we "struggle" to break teams down. In our setup with the team we have, the point of passing your way out of pressure should be to do it quickly so you can break through and create chances, unless we already have a two goal lead. The players like Maguire needs to be a lot more flexible and able to get those messages out to the team. We miss McTominay.
