The fullbacks as outlets were a problem in the first leg.

28% including me predicting the scoreline to be Barca 1-2 United. The belief is strong! :D

My cousin, a Liverpool fan, is going to the CL semis if Liverpool go through, and he is pretty much anticipating and planning for a trip to Camp Nou. Sadly, I can't even disagree with his assumption.

Barca will easily punish us and put us out of the game in a matter of minutes if we show the slightest sign of weakness at their ground. Considering what we saw against West Ham, it looks pretty much like 3-0 or 3-1 to Barca.

On that massive pitch, they are going to show the difference in quality.
    4-0.

I think we will miss Shaw's speed at the back if we go with Jones for example. I'd rather Bailly play but there's very little possibility of that happening.

Sure? Looks absolutely massive on TV.
It literally CANNOT be different, as per UEFA's regulations that mandate a pitch with those dimensions. All Category 4 stadiums (so those that are allowed to host Champions League games from the playoff stage onwards) must have a field of play of that size.

They might be able to change it for domestic competition - I have no idea about La Liga regulations - but that'd probably be way too much of a hassle to be worth it. And it's not relevant now anyway, of course.

You’re probably just used to seeing a bunch of midgets playing on it.
Camera angle probably has something to do with it, too.

Also, it used to be the biggest pitch in the world until 1998 so it was genuinely huge.

I can't see us doing it this time, we'll need to defend even better than the first leg and score at least two goals. But we do of course have a chance and have showed we can do it in the past against good teams. I expect to see a similar line-up that faced West Ham which of course doesn't bode too well if we perform anything close to that. Young will replace Shaw, Lindelof will replace Jones, McTominay will replace Mata, and Rashford will replace Martial most likely:

    de Gea
    Young Smalling Lindelof Dalot
    McTominay
    Fred Pogba
    Lingard
    Lukaku Rashford
    ---
Romero; Jones, Rojo; Pereira; Mata, Martial, Greenwood

I wouldn't be surprised to see Matic, Herrera, or Sanchez included in the squad over Greenwood if fit. I'm pretty sure that will be the line-up, but I have been calling for Ole to axe the diamond for weeks as it doesn't seem to bring the best out of Rashford and has lost its novelty from the initial run of games it worked in. I fancy us to score here but I think we will still lose.

I'd play him too, why should be there limited possibility of that happening. Bailly on the right lindelof on the left and Dalot and Another full back.

I expect to see the back three again, but it’ll be more like a back five in truth. It’s limited the chances Barca and PSG have had in those last two games and like in Paris it is imperative we reach the final ten minutes with it all to play for.

    ...................... DDG
    Dalot Lindelöf Smalling Rojo Young
    ........ Pogba Fred McTominay
    ............. Lukaku Rashford

I think Young and Dalot need to swap sides. Our downfall at home came from lack of good crosses from wide. Dalot needs to be on his natural side and Young is better on the left anyway.

Rojo could well be Jones, but there is zero point having Rojo if you don’t play him in his best role.

Mainly because he's nowhere to be seen since the international break. I think he sustained some kind of head injury if I remember correctly, not sure is ideal to throw him in the team at the Camp Nou.

I wish we could score goals from corners, I'd be more confident then.

Whilst it doesn’t take a genius to work out what Ole's tactics are going to be, I cannot see how this will work.

Defending deep and hitting on the break is all well but when you have a terrible defence and the attack so devoid of technical ability the writing is on the wall I’m afraid!

The back five could also be something like:

    Dalot Young Lindelöf Smalling Rojo

which is similar to what we had after Bailly went off against PSG and would provide flexibility in shifting from a back five to four with Dalot pushing on.

Barca will score first and put this game to bed, I am afraid. Taking into account our last game, I predict a comfortable 2-0 win for them.

I have thought about this for years. Any team can practice and improve on getting the most out of corners. It's frustrating that United have never been a consistent threat from them even during Jose's reign of giants.

Its about the movement of strikers and on rushing midfielders, Those strikers we have got out there just stand their ground at one place and expect crosses to come straight to their head, its easy to mark them that way and crossing is always poor from us too.

In fairness, practicing set pieces comes with an opportunity cost of not training other skills that are more useful for the rest of matches during open play. I wouldn’t want us to spend that much time on them, but what I do find disappointing is A) how we seems to lack any sort of direction on them and players are seemingly left to their own devices, and B) how none of our players have the ability to deliver a decent ball with any regularity.

Barca scoring first makes little difference really. United need to score twice to go through anyway. The match progressing to 1-1 would be highly beneficial for United.

Attack and less fear is all I ask, no one expect us to go through anyways, so we just need to be very brave.

Beating Barca at their ground and progressing to the semis would be some miracle but still way more likely than beating PSG 3:1 away without Pogba, Martial, etc. Hope the players believe they can do it again.

True and anxious play in the final 3rd when breaking; as is if every nearly-moment was an extra touch or a mis-placed pass by an inch or a yard off control because the players knew they could deliver a killer blow. That Dalot chance, that Rashford chance in the box-volley and that Martial chance where the touch takes it too far in front when played in by McTominay was telling.

Dalot and young MUST practice crossing for the entire day.

You're going to be massively disappointed, both are guaranteed to start.
My God how Lingard will start this, he is a fecking useless and a passenger at every game he plays, creates nothing at all, when was his last good game? I don't even remember. Ole got to stop playing him because he trust United products and bla bla bla.

According to Young, I know he will play this one sadly because that shortage of options we have at that line.

    https://www.manutd.com/en/news/deta...-squad-for-barcelona-away-in-champions-league

David De Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant.
Diogo Dalot, Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw.
Fred, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata.
Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford.
Sanchez is a surprise to me.

I hope Ole doesn't throw in Matic. Fred and McTominay deserve to start.

Looks like Matic has travelled, so maybe he could start instead of Lingard if Ole is going for more in midfield. There is also the possibility of Jones or Rojo starting in a back three, but those are the only ways I can see Lingard not being named in the starting line-up. I think he is more likely than those.
