Pretty much the only premier league sides that look like they have a shit squad at the moment are Burnley, Sunderland, Hull City and Swansea... The rest all have pretty solid teams I think.
Watford's is pretty bad. Take out Ighalo and Deeney and there isn't much there. I think people are underestimating Burnley due to their lack of investment. They won the Championship very comfortably. If Andre Gray can continue scoring goals they could do well imo. They have a solid defence. If they address their midfield before the window ends I think they'll avoid relegation. Hull are already doomed for 20th. I'm not convinced by Bournemouth. People are expecting way too much from Ibe imo. He can dribble but not much of a creative or goalscoring threat besides that. Gradel will be important for them. I need to see if Wilson can rediscover his early goalscoring form too. That was a terrible injury and I wasn't convinced by his performances after returning last season. Their defence is among the weakest in the league imo.

I'm at this game, Bournemouth were crap at the end of last season but that was because they secured safety. You should win comfortably though, will be interesting to see how Wilson does.

Would bite your hand off right now if offered a 1-0 United win.
No way Pogba starts this, doubt if he's even used as a sub.
    Tricky enough fixture to start.

It's our first proper game of the season and we're away to a decent well organised side. I can't see it being a comfortable win at all. I think we'll nick it by the odd goal but I fully expect them to give us a game. I'm not sure how they'll line up but in King, Ibe and Wilson they have a-lot of pace.

I'm sure Mou would want to win his first EPL opening game as Man United's manager so I'm hopeful that we will win this.

Eh, given the players you have available I'd expect a 2-0/3-1 win. Bournemouth are decent, but defensively suspect. Pace on the break for sure, but a lot of those players have little end product, other than Wilson/Afobe, and Wilson still has a '?' over him due to injuries.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Bailly--Blind--Shaw
    Carrick--Schneiderlin
    Lingard--Rooney--Martial
    Ibrahimovic

subs: Romero, Rojo, Herrera, Pogba, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford

I think there will only be one change to this team. Maybe Fellaini/Herrera in for Schneiderlin/Carrick but that will be it. If Pogba is fit enough then give him 20 - 30 mins. Mkhi and Rashford off the bench too please.

Imagine how dynamic we could be if Mhkitaryan replaces Rooney and Pogba replaces Carrick.

Most generic post I've seen all week. Get an opinion.

Comfortable win in my opinion. Martial to regain form and Rooney to grab a goal.

We obviously have better players but that's not really how it always works, is it. They'll definitely be up for it at their own place on the first day of the season. I would be very surprised if we score 3. I would say maybe a 2-1 but I could also see us drawing. Hopefully we have enough to nick a win.

Nah, but I dont' think they're all that good if I'm honest. Can see a big relegation struggle next season for them, I watched a lot of Bournemouth games live last season as it's where my family are (currently back here from Uni) and defensively they are very easily exposed. We took them apart in both games last season. Howe is a very offensive minded manager, a bit naive at times, but maybe he has learned from last season.

That said, they did have some great games, beat you and Chelsea for example. Like anybody in the league they are capable of beating anybody else, but it would require a bad day from you. They are energetic and play on the front foot so it might even suit you, they have pace but they aren't really a counter attacking side. They go at the opposition.

They'll be up for it but so will you and I can see the difference in quality showing. Their season depends heavily on Wilson's state after his injury, the form he was in prior to that could see them survive.

Non-football fans will never understand the excitement of the Premier League starting again, 100x better than Christmas, birthdays, whatever
Definitely. I end up watching games I wouldn't normally watch during a season. Like Hull City - Leicester :)

They have spent around £32m this summer.
Mostly on Ibe. A lot of their transfers are young/for the future, although Lewis Cook is one to look out for. Also secured Ake on loan which could be very shrewd, especially given their defensive issues.

They've brought in Ibe, Cook, Hyndman and Ake I think.
Anyone know what team they are likely to start?

Would have liked a couple more games as I'm not sure we know what our strongest line up is. It's funny as there are a few of last seasons players that have benefited from no euro's as they look sharp and fitter...

I think Pogba will start and be subbed off around the 60 min mark rather than be subbed on when we are possibly in full defensive shape defending one goal lead. He will also give us that extra motivational push to kick off a great start and then when we get a couple of goals he can come off for Fellaini or Schneiderlin.

I also think pogba will start and be taken off.

    DDG
    Valencia
    Bailey
    Blind
    Shaw
    Carrick
    Pogba
    Miki
    Rooney
    Martial
    Ibra

Should be winning this one 2-0 3-1 I think. I reckon they could cause us a few problems but nothing close to lecister in the last match.

Curious as to whether Lingard makes this one, but I think Mkhitaryan will start regardless. Team picks itself for this game, but the midfield two is obviously anybody's guess.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Bailly--Blind--Shaw
    Herrera--Carrick
    Mkhitaryan--Rooney--Martial
    Ibrahimovic

I have this too and think Lingard might be out due to injury.

    Carrick
    Herrera
    Mkhitaryan
    Rooney (c)
    Martial
    Ibrahimovic

    Subs: Lingard, Rashford, Pogba

    Score: Bournemouth 0 United 1
I have this but with Mata on instead of Lingard(I believe the knock Lingard took will keep him out), but 0-2 for United.

Oh I don't think they're that great at all, don't get me wrong. However, Howe has done a fantastic job and they pulled off some great results last season. Their form definitely dipped at the the back end of last season, but I would say they were already on the beach somewhere considering they were safe.

I guess it's just that it's the first game of the season, it's away and we have a new manager and some new personnel. If this match was to come in a month or so from now when everyone is settled and we have a settled first eleven, then I would be far more optimistic. I do think we will win, but I don't think it's going to be rip roaring. I think in Mourinho's first game back at Chelsea they played Hull at home and only won two nil. I thought it was a banker 4/5 nil, to be honest.

Agree about Wilson, I have no idea how he will come back form his injury.

On the line up prediction keep going back and forth on whether Pogba will play. I do not think he will start but could be a sub. The only thing I wonder about is that he is just off of holiday and will have had less than 1 week of time to get into game shape.

    Valencia------Blind-------Bailly-------Shaw

    Lingard------------Mata--------------Martial

The line-up I'd like to see but don't think we will see.

Looks like this is most likely

    Boruc

    A. Smith Francis S. Cook Daniels

Ibe L. Cook Surman Arter Gradel

    Wilson
Maybe Ake instead of Lewis Cook or maybe even ahead of Harry Arter if he isn't fit enough (I think I'd heard he was a slight doubt). Nothing intimidating anyway.

How has Calum been since his injury recovery. He was in fire for them last season.

    Would love to see:

    DDG
    Valencia-Smalling-Bailly-Shaw
    Carrick-Herrera
    Mkhitaryan-Lingard-Martial
    Ibra

    Subs: Rashford, Mata, Schneiderlin

    Realistic:

    DDG
    Valencia-Smalling-Bailly-Shaw
    Carrick-Fellaini
    Lingard-Rooney-Martial
    Ibra
    EDIT:

It really feels great to be able to predict Shaw in the lineup again. He is just so good!

Last year's line up for Bournemouth away.
Wonder if LVG would have stood by his young players this season if he had the Summer or would we still have spent all the money.

I'm not sure Ibra will start, I'm told he's having a few drinks in a casino in London at the minute, playing a poker tournament my friend is also playing in. Not saying he can't have a few drinks days before the game but would be strange preparation if he was making his first competitive start for us.

    Today is Wednesday.
    Game is on Sunday.
There is plenty of time to recover, though I do find it questionable why he is drinking alcohol - I'd have thought he'd be teetotal.

This upcoming game reminds me of our pathetic loss there last season. It still pisses me off.

Hopefully we'll make amends on Sunday. Starting the season with a win would be vital.
