Why does nobody want Odion starting upfront ? I think he stands in positions that out other forwards don't and consequently scores that our other forwards wouldn't score.

I like him in the team.

Martial scored a hatrick in our last (league) game, are you suggesting benching him or playing him out of position?

If you told me years ago United fans would be nervous about facing Brighton I'd have laughed. Lads...it's Brighton. Most people here can't even mention their 2nd best player. 3-0 easy and back in the top 5
Your post has ruffled some feathers on a Brighton forum :D

BHA didn't pass it around against Arsenal and Leicester and the performances were disappointing.
Brighton were great first half against Leicester but against Arsenal, Arsenal really should’ve won but credit to Brighton for sticking at it when going 1-0 down.

Had a dream (nightmare) we lost. Just thought i'd throw that in the ring.
I had a dream (nightmare) that Souness took a massive unflushable shit in my toilet, I found him in my bed so I started to kick the feck out of him, dragging him out my house where I was attacked by a bunch of scousers shouting at me to leave him alone.

I think this means we’re going to lose...either that or I have some serious issues I need to deal with.

Anyone else thinking today is when it all clicks and we trounce these off the park?
No. I’m expecting a tough nervy game. I hope you’re right though.

They will park the bus and squeeze the space. If Bruno is to feature, I'd rather he come on in the second half to go at their tired legs. Greenwood, Pogba and Matic must start.
Have you seen them play? Brighton are one of the few bottom half teams that don’t park the bus.

God you can really feel the nerves in this thread today. For what it’s worth I think this will be a hard game but I also think people are underestimating the strides we have made recently. I think we win this 2-0.

Getting more nervous about this one, hope we can score early to ease some of the tension!

    Come on United!

Some think Luke Shaw is a given to start but it wouldn't surprise me if he's rested. Hes played a lot of football and was one of the only players who played 120 minutes 4 days ago against Norwich.

    Red Card for Casemiro!
I don’t think they will park. That’s not Potters style at all.

Showing intent against Arsenal is one thing, leaving United space under Ole is another.

That's not how they, or any 'lower' club will play against us for the remainder of the season. We struggle to break teams down, so it is in their best interests to make us toil and catch us off guard.

Lindelof may be a bad choice here, and Matic is a must.

And their goalie to have the game of his life.
This has become a trend in the last years. Don't fecking know why though. Some even had kind of a horror show the match right before the one against us. Then they suddenly turned into Buffon. Why ???

Think Lindelof would be a good choice. They press very well and we need some one competent on the ball. They also don't play lot of airballs which means he would still be fine.

No they actually don't we most of the time just tend to exaggerate their performances they usually make couple of great saves along with just routine saves but everything gets clubbed together and suddenly the narrative that goalkeepers morphs into superhuman against us gets traction .
Occasionally we do get goal keepers who play like men possessed but that's few and far between.

Maybe but I can't forget Lee Grant and the match against Stoke few years ago. He was actually superhuman.

Give them possession, invite them in our half and make a kill on the counter.

Pretty sure it has been a trendy trend ever since post-SAF.

Last time I remember it was most evident in 2016/17. Stopped for a while when we had a flat-track bully striker, problem resurfaced the following season but an assassin killed it temporarily, only to let the problem back the season after that. A demigod and Eagle-Zero came as two of the many more missing pieces and the problem now is almost none.

    Reasons:
+ Opponent. Low block, easier to keep if the area of blocking and angles to watch on for goalkeeper are limited. Easier job. Plus having a lot of players defend give you confidence. Keeper's confidence also raises the more saves he make. The more time runs on and United still struggling, the more the team morale boosted.
+ United's common problems have always been problems in "how to break organized defenses". Doubt the coaching for this is good enough, or even exist at all. Current and previous manager tend to relied more on individual talents and creativity when attacking. Zero repetitive well-drilled patterns of play. "Break defense on your own"~

Can someone tell me what's our record like when we go down to Brighton? I can only remember ever losing to them so they are pretty much a bogey team when we go there

No excuses not to win tonight though

Regardless of whether these are true or not, they are more of why teams with low block defend better against us. What I can't understand is how these goalies could pulled out saves they would never normally do against us. Just us.

Just browsed through this thread. Clearly the confidence if taking a hit the closer it is coming to kick off. We've gone from consensus on winning to a draw. I'm guessing we'll go to loss after line ups are declared - till we eventually score the first goal (when it will all be good again!)

I fully expect us to win today. The team is showing some character and should be happy after getting through a tough game on Saturday. Don't expect them to be knackered (except Bruno) given most of the first XI came on only towards the last 45 mins!

Yeah, we've lost both times since their promotion.

    The view from their forum:

This feels for the 1st time since our promotion that we are playing a Man Utd team on the "up", rather than a disjointed, defensive collection of players. They are on a good run, but their players have poor performances in them and we will need them to have one tonight if we are to get anything I think. I do worry about our ability to defend vs. pace out wide with Gross, Trossard and Mooy, so I think March will play. No idea how GP will approach Lamptey situation.. arguably less pressure than the Norwich one, so maybe play him..exciting stuff though!
