Brighton still have a lot to play for and are a quality side, so I don't see why Carrick would rotate heavily and increase the risk of ending the season with a defeat. Also, Bruno deserves an honest shot at getting another assist.

Better to start at full-strength, or close to it, and then sub on the likes of Lacey.

I'd expect Heaven, maybe Yoro, Dorgu. A bit of rotation, but not going full youngster on them. They might get subbed on later in the match

Yeah, I might start Heaven, Dorgu and Mazraoui, but not the academy players. I also think that there is some kind of responsibility to Brighton's competitors to play it as close to a normal game as possible.

    I'd go:

    Lammens
    Mazraoui - Maguire - Heaven - Shaw
    Casemiro - Mainoo
    Amad - Bruno - Dorgu
    Sesko
If Sesko isn't fit, put Mbeumo up top. Sub on Yoro, Lacey, and Zirkzee for a good chunk of minutes.

Brighton away is tough enough at the best of times, without heavily rotating. I'm all for giving the likes of Tyler Fletcher, Twaithes and Lacey some minutes but start as strong as possible and try and finish on a high.

No idea for a scoreline on this one. We've seen 5-5 on the last day before. Hopefully we see some goals.

Completely get the interest in rotating - opportunities for the youth team have been non-existent given the clusterfeck our season was until Carrick came in.

Don't see Bruno breaking the record if that's the case, however. Can even see him being rested with the world cup presumably a bigger priority for him now.

I'm torn between playing a full strength line up and getting Bruno the record or giving minutes to some academy lads and resting some of those destined for the world cup.

No minutes for Zirkzee though, he doesn't need them

Bruno‘s record should not take precedence over playing youngsters. That being said, we‘ll of course play Bruno this game.

I'm not bothered about Bruno breaking the record, him reaching it was enough for me. That being said, we should still start a relatively strong team now that losing and hurting Pool's chances at CL is off the table.

I expect Casemiro to be rested. Yesterday was his farewell and he might as well go out with a win. Ugarte to start for his (hopefully) last appearance. Rest of the team picks itself. Minutes for some youth players after 65-70 mins with Heaven and Lacey at the top of the list.

I only want Bruno to break the assists record. Do everything we can to get that done. Anything after that, not too bothered about it. Would like to see some of our promising academy youngsters getting a chance off the bench like Shea Lacey, Tyler Fletcher & JJ Gabriel but not expecting it.
Don't think Gabriel can play in league until next season

Carrick really went for it with his team selection last time, and I think in terms of the starting line-up it won't be drastically different. However, I think we might see some youth players on the bench instead of some squad players who probably won't be here. If we are selling/releasing Malacia, Ugarte, and Zirkzee then I don't see any need to involve them in this game. They'll probably still be in the squad but I'd rather they weren't.

As much as it is individual achievement driven I'd want:
    • Shaw to start as it would mean he has started all 38 Premier League games in a season after such a bad time with injury
    • Casemiro to start his last game and hopefully score a header to break the record for headed goals in a season
    • Bruno to start and hopefully beat the Assist record
Mainoo should still start anyway as he's not played as much this season - only reason not to is if he is named in the World Cup squad and it's collectively decided it's best to not risk injury but I highly doubt he wouldn't still play. The same can be said for Maguire if he has a chance of going to the World Cup, but I'd rather he just started. Maybe play Heaven over Martinez though as I think he didn't really deserve to be dropped when Martinez was back (even if I'm glad Carrick made that call). I'd rather Mbeumo and Cunha did start. Would be nice for Dorgu to start as well - hoping Sesko is at least on the bench if not starting.

    Lammens
    Mazraoui Maguire Heaven Shaw
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Mbeumo Bruno Dorgu
    Cunha
    ---------
Bayindir; Dalot, Yoro; Thwaites; Mount, Lacey, Amad; Sesko, Obi

    Sesko likely to miss game

Yeah disappointing if so, but at least it doesn't matter in terms of our final position. Reckon he'd have bagged at least a couple more goals these last few games if fit though!
Yeah had a feeling his season was done with that injury

Heaven and Lacey should be starting with Thwaites, Tyler Fletcher, Chido on the bench.

There's no good reason to start Mbeumo or Amad over Lacey on the right. Two out of form players and a meaningless game.

It’s definitely not meaningless. We can hinder their European ambitions. And break the 70 point mark.

I think he will go unchanged but Lacey will come on off the bench, Thwaites might make his debut.

    Answered before and probably yes!

It's not supposed to make sense, I'm really invested in this record
I think it makes plenty of sense. It makes zero difference if we win the game or not. On August 15th no one is going to play better because we won some game three months ago with a different team.

I'd start or at least heavily play youngsters or people we need to showcase/develop. I really don't see any issue with us getting thumped if it means the young guys play and Bruno still gets an assist.

Why would we want to hinder Brighton's European ambitions? Especially if it comes at the expense of improving Chelsea's.

And 68 vs 71 points when both leave you in third place is the definition of meaningless.

They’ve done us too many times so it would taste sweet, and I think 70+ points would be a good benchmark to achieve in such a tumultuous season. But I can’t say I’m expecting a victory there with them having everything to play for (and being really good).

We will get lightly spanked in a fairly tepid 2-1 IMO.

Apparently Thwaites and Kukonki might be involved.
For me the match is all about getting the season done, no injuries to the WC players, see a few youngsters.
Not to many at the same time. Maybe start Tyler Fletcher and Lacey, and then later get Thwaites and Kukonki on. For them to be able to perform, you need stability and not 11 new players.
Hope to see the young talents, instead of giving farewell gametime to Zirkzee and Ugarte etc.
