Bristol City Football Club (nicknamed The Robins), is a English professional association football club based in Bristol. The club was founded in 1894 as Bristol South End and changed their name to Bristol City on adopting professionalism three years later when they were admitted into the Southern League. Finishing as runners-up in three of the first four seasons, in 1900 the club amalgamated with local Southern League rivals Bedminster F.C., who had been founded as Southville in 1887. City joined the Football League in 1901 when they became only the third club south of Birmingham (following in the footsteps of Woolwich Arsenal and Luton Town) to perform in the competition. Their first game in the Football League was on 7 September 1901 at Bloomfield Road, when Blackpool were beaten 2–0. Bristol City won the Welsh Cup – despite being an English club – in 1934. In 1907 they finished runners-up in Football League Division One, which is their highest ever final position.

In 1909 they lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United, their only final. Since relegation in 1911, however, they only returned to the top division from 1976 to 1980 and did not contend for any honours then. In 1982, Bristol City became the first English club to suffer three consecutive relegations. They were promoted to the Football League Championship in the 2006–07 season after finishing second in League One but failed to make a second consecutive promotion to the Premier League after they were defeated by Hull City in the 2008 Football League Championship play-off Final at Wembley Stadium. With victories in 1986, 2003 and 2015, Bristol City are now the most successful team in the Football League Trophy. The team's main rivals are Bristol Rovers in the Bristol derby and Cardiff City in the Severnside derby, along with other regional teams in the West Country derby. And they play their home games at the Ashton Gate stadium.

    Romero

    Darmian Lindelof Rojo Shaw
    Herrera McTominay
    Rashford Lingard Martial
    Zlatan

or, if Zlatan isn't fit to start a game have Rashford up front and Mkhitaryan at RW. Important to rest our first choice defence and midfield anyway then use the three subs on the players behind the striker so Mata, Mkhitaryan and maybe a little runout for Pogba if all goes well.

For the away game to Leicester City afterwards I'd then go (if Valencia isn't fit):

    De Gea

    Young Smalling Jones Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Mata Lingard Martial
    Lukaku
Would prefer three man midfield of Matic, Pogba and Mata with Lingard behind Martial and Lukaku front two.

I think it's time Mkhitaryan got a chance to start again, along with Shaw and Ibrahimovic if fit enough. McTominay will start, and I think Tuanzebe will be involved. Could be three at the back or three in midfield, Blind also has a chance to start in either of those.

    Romero
    Darmian Lindelof Rojo Shaw
    Tuanzebe Herrera McTominay
    Mkhitaryan Ibrahimovic Martial

Pogba will play, our midfield is knackered. McTominay alongside. Fully expect Romero, Lindelof, Shaw and Martial to start as well. I'm sure if Mourinho thinks Ibrahimovic can play at least an hour he'll start too, Lukaku looked out of juice in the second half as well today.

    MkHitaryan is off.
    Romero
    Tuanzebe Lindelöf Smalling Shaw
    Pogba Herrera
    Gomes Wilson Martial
    Zlatan
Yeah not a chance in hell for that line up. Will be good to see Pogba get a run out again though. Would like to see Ibra starting. Should be a good game. Bristol have been no mugs this season.

That should be fun without any stress.

    Romero
    Darmian - Tuanzepe - Lindelof - Shaw
    Scott - Herrera - Pogba
    Lingard - Zlatan - Martial

If Zlatan is still unfit, then Rashford.

I reckon we will see Martial or Rashford upfront. Something is not correct with Zlatan still, just played 75? minutes since his return a month ago. Mata to be rested after playing 90 today, no Matic either. Lukaku on the bench, Romero in goal.

Someone said Kehinde was training with the first team, wonder if he might get a cameo in this match.

Like Shaw to get some minutes. Valencia may be out for awhile so Young on the right and Shaw on the left may be the way to go. Rojo is a diaster at left back.

Jose has to rest some key players, here. Even without them, we've got enough in the tank to win in some shape or form, probably in boring/conservative fashion but who cares at this stage:

    ------------------------Romero------------------------------
    ----------Lindelof---------Smalling------------Rojo--------------
    Darmian---------------------------------------------Shaw
    -----------------Herrera----------McTominay---------------
    --------------------------Lingard-----------------------------
    ---------Rashford---------------------Martial------------------

SUBS - Zlatan (Rashford), Mata (Lingard), Tuanzebe (Smalling).

    Bristol City 1 - 3 Man United
    Rashford, Lingard, Martial.

    Mata
    Rashford

Matic and Lukaku really need a rest, Shaw needs more match fitness in case Valencia is out fir while.

League games are relatively easy to predict the line up. This will be very tricky. Should be wholesale changes given the number of games we have coming up.

    Romero
    Tuanzebe, Lindelöf, Rojo
    Darmian, McTominay, Pogba, Shaw
    Rashford, Martial

I'd play Pogba, he loves playing and getting 65 minutes orn so in is legs wont hurt. If Mkhi doesn't make this squad then I think he's gone in January.

    Romero
    Darmian Lindelof Rojo Shaw
    Herrera McTominay
    Mata Lingard Martial
    Rashford

Subs: Pereira, Tuanzebe, Jones, Pogba, Mkhi, Ibrahimovic, Wilson/Gomes/someone

Could really do with a few more options for those front four positions to allow us to rotate over Christmas. Reckon we'll see Pogba come on for the last half an hour or so be wouldn't be too surprised if he starts and is subbed off after an hour instead.

    Team should be...

    --------------Romero--------------
    Darmian--Jones--Rojo--Shaw
    -------Herrera-----Pogba-------
    Rashford-----Mata-----Martial
    --------------Lukaku--------------

Subs: Pereira, Blind, Lindelof, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Lingard, Zlatan

Not sure Zlatan is ready to start yet and there's an argument to get more goals for Lukaku, we know Mhkitaryan is out of the picture completely and while there's also an argument to not risk Pogba he may need the game time to build momentum before the weekend

    Anyone but Rashford
So god damn annoying that Pogba's ban ran for 3 league games and he's back for Bristol.

Ah well. We should be resting all the key players ahead of the Winter period.

    Romero

    Darmian Lindelof Rojo Shaw

    Herrera McTominay

    Romero
    Tuanzebe--Lindelof--Rojo
    Darmian--McTominay--Pogba--Shaw
    Rashford--Ibrahimovic--Martial

subs: Pereira, Jones, Blind, Herrera, Lingard, Mata, Chong.

If Ibrahimovic isn't fit enough to start then bring in Jesse and start Rashford up top. If Mkhi was available I would be starting him ahead of Ibra and putting Rashford up top.

Pogba comes off after 55 - 60 mins please.

If Mikhi doesn't make the squad in this as well, then he's off in Jan and already negotiating with another club to leave, because there's no other way around.

Think Jose will go strong for this one, as it won't be easy at all and is a good chance of winning Silverware again. I reckon Pogba will start but hope Matic and Lukaku in particular and maybe even Chris Smalling are given a rest.
