Terribly unfortunate that McTominay was injured. Fred did a fantastic job against Newcastle but it is hard to believe that he will be able to manage at that level three games in a row in such a short time.

It's also hard to believe that Matic can speed up but hopefully I'm wrong, he didn't have to play that much so it might have been good for him? A draw against Burnley wouldn't surprise me.

    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Williams
    Pogba - Fred
    James - Andreas - Rashford
    Martial

That’s what I think we’ll go with. I’d start Greenwood though.

Beat them to nil on our last 3 visits.

Nevertheless a scrappy shit game should be expected.

Trying to decide if he's going to start with Peirera or Lingard but 100% this.

Dire options in midfield, I'd rather go with Pereira instead of Matic, who should only be used at home against teams that we dominate so that he gets space to roll back the years and spray some good balls forward. Away against physical and direct sides, he would be a recipe for disaster. I'd also go with Axel instead of Lindelof, and rest Mason just to protect him after playing 90 minutes yesterday.

    De Gea
    AWB Tuanzebe Maguire Williams
    Pogba Fred
    James Pereira Rashford

Extremely rare that we string two PL wins on the spin together but we really need to do so given that our games after this include . Arsenal, City and Liverpool.

Will be much harder than Newcastle, obviously.

Reasonably favourable round, I'd say. City should do a job on Sheffield U, for one thing. Chelsea could feasibly drop points against Arsenal. And Spurs aren't reliable at all, Norwich are shite but it's away and Jose is hopefully easing into full (latter day) Jose mode.

Win (scrappy as feck will do) this one, and we might be sitting a single point behind 4th.

Hardly surprising the way he was playing yesterday, he was either going to get sent off or injure himself. He had a good go at the first one, then succeeded with the 2nd.

Are we ever going to get a midfield 3 of McT, Fred and Pogba ?
Like I said, Lingard and Perreira are the luckiest people around, just when you think they'll finally be put aside, more injuries save them. So a potential of a midfield 3 of Pogba, Scott and Fred has been dashed away again and those 2 have once again survived.

If it's Pereira for McTominay I hope that means he's deeper. Would prefer Pogba further forward.

Let's go mental and play 442.

Play Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and James from the start.

    Or 3-4-3

    -------------------De Gea-------------------
    ------Lindelof-----Tuanzebe-----Maguire
    James---Fred-----Pogba-----Williams
    -----Greenwood------Martial----Rashford

Pereira isn’t as good in that role as McT but much better than Lingard. Could be a place up for grabs here if someone impresses.

Pogba is much better forward and against Burnley will be crucial

That's true. I forgot how diabolical Pereira was at CM!

Agree with this. Pogba doesn't suit a two. In the last two games its clear he is by far our best player in the attacking third but playing him deep doesn't work.
OMG! Is this argument still going on? Pogba is a smart block and he perfectly understands how to move and where to be. It doesn't matter where you put him because nobody will stop him from moving about when he's on the pitch. Just put him in there with 2 midfielders and he'll make the passes and shooting at target work. He can totally boss a team now because he is given all the freedom by Ole. Jose was stringent and passive which Pogba hated because he hates to be stuck in one place, he likes to parade the pitch and drop into holes plus he has an uncanny habit of getting away from defenders exactly at the point when they think he's going to shoot or pass. The boy can really help this team, the more and more he plays. Not that he doesn't have flaws but who doesn't!

Erm. I meant pogba should play in the 10 / most advanced of a midfield 3. I'm not sure anyone thinks he is better in a two than a three do they?

Ashley Barnes is going to bully Lindelof untill he shits a brick. Pogba in a midfield 2 is a horrible scenario also.

I can't say I'm expecting much from this game.

Considering we’ve won 3 and drawn 2 of the last 5 meetings, our overall league record against them looks quite crap

In the 4 fixtures after the City win, this is the one I expected to lose, not the Watford one.

Still reckon we're going to get bullied. 1-1 draw.

21% of you lot think we'd score 3 goals at Burnley?

Dose me some of that optimism!

Surely Greenwood starts over James again? James has the pace when counter attacking and would frighten most defences but its most likely that we will try and pin them back, and when attacking, Greenwood would suit better when trying to unlock a 10 man defensive block which Burnley form so quickly.

I think Greenwood has earned his place for Burnley, with James as a fresh pair of legs. This is why we need more quality on the bench. Seeing Jones, Mata, Lingard, Pereira and the like ready to do nothing when they come on is frustrating to say the least. James has played nearly every game since joining us so resting him when Greenwood is on form would be clever management form Ole.

    I hope to see

    De Gea

    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw

    Fred--Pogba

    Lingard (no other choice)

    Greenwood--Martial--Rashford

A team that struggles on the road, against a physical side, who don't want the ball and are difficult to break down...

...sounds like dropped points to me.

Needless to say, hoping to be proven wrong,

You’ll walk this, Burnley are shocking at the moment and their League position flatters them greatly.
    3-1 to United.

We did beat Newcastle who is another side we normally struggle against. Although at Old Trafford we are stronger.

Can't see Ole playing Matic as a DM (or at all tbh)

Fred under instruction to sit and watch when a FB pushes up/cover.

    - - De Gea
Wan Bissaka - Jones - McGuire - Lindelof - Shaw
    Greenwood - Fred - Pogba - Rashford
    - - Martial
I don't really like this tbh. The last time we went 3 center back and wing back was a disaster if my memory serves me right.

We won last match so Ole will pretty much stick with 4231 imo. My bet is:

    DDG
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    Fred - Pogba
    Lingard
    James - Martial - Rashford

Pereira played 90' last match so he won't this match I think. Ole may sub him on Fred later though. Two matches within 48 hours is just crazy, for both teams.
