Anyone looking forward to this match?

I am excited yet scared and worried. Mixed emotions. And it's against burnley 3 games into the season:houllier:

I'm sick of the 352, looks uninspired and we really don't have the players for it at the moment. If we play Di Maria as a LWB I'm going to turn the TV off and go do something else for 90 minutes, it would be a terrible waste of our best talent.

    Would like to see:

    DDG
    Rafael Smalling Blackett Rojo
    Herrera Jones Di Maria
    Januzaj Mata
    Rooney
Reason being I don't want Young, Fletcher, Cleverly or Evans anywhere near the starting XI, in this lineup we should have plenty of tempo going forward while still having a solid defense with Jones playing a CDM type role.
I also think either Rvp or Rooney needs to be dropped, they've not been good together so far. The idea behind having Januzaj there is giving him a somewhat free role on either side of Mata while going forward.

I'll eat my hat if we don't play some variation of a 433. LVG's always said that he doesn't train the players to a specific formation, but to his philosophy. The players should adapt easily and LVG has said a speedy winger was the piece he needed to convert to it. We'll see though.

Love the fact that it's the first match of the round. Less time to wait in between games!

    We'll win 3-0

Someone wrote, that we were underdog against MK. So I assume every result but a harsh beating would be okay. A point would be bloody brilliant. Its a bit like David vs Goliath.

I hope someone sends Burnley a memo that they are the favourites. Else they might not realize that.

    12% voting 5-0 to Burnley. :lol::lol::lol:

Seriously, I guess van Gaal would be sacked if that happens though.

Shaw cannot get fit quickly enough. I'm hoping LvG sees Young for what he really is, but we have little alternative to him atm.

I really think we should be winning this game comfortably but I thought the same for Sunderland and MK Dons. I just can't imagine the negative backlash we will face if we don't win this. This is certainly a must-win game from all perspective. 2 losses and 1 draw from our first 3 games. I don't want to see a 4th loss/draw. :(

Sunderland away isn't normally a doss for bigger teams, look at the last year or 2.
Burnley away we really have to be putting away though.

We should beat Burnley but then again we should have beaten MK Dons and Sunderland at least. I saw Burnley a few times last season, granted against Championship opposition, and they won't be a walkover. They're good on the break and will punish us if we're sloppy in possession.

We have to win, if for no other reason than I got enough stick a few years back when Burnley beat us 1-0!

Hoping we win by a couple of goals. The team desperately needs every bit of confidence it can get.

I think the line-up will be something like Gary Neville showed earlier this week.

    De Gea
    Valencia -- Jones - Evans - Rojo -- James
    Fletcher
    Herrera - di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney

If Herrera is fit and Rojo working permit gets done.

I wonder why VG did not last long enough at bayern, when you see his decision making like playing janazaj in CM , and continuing to play young and Valencia at wingback, they are shit enough on the wing, let alone play them at wingback.

VG has no excuse now not to change systems, he's got a di Maria and janazaj out wide, use them

Leaving Bayern had nothing to do with the team's performance.

Even though we paid a lot for di Maria, he's one of my favorite footballers and I'm pumped to see him in a United shirt. Hopefully he can play on Saturday already, although I'll probably miss the first half of the match.

United have to go all out this game now, this game is about pride now. Even LVG cant risk this game being poor game like the last 3... i reckon he'll stick with his 3-5-2 formation and start:

    ----------------De Gea---------------
    ----M.Keane-----Jones-------Rojo---
    Valencia---Fletcher---Herrera(fit?)---Young
    ------------------Mata----------------
    ------------Rooney----RVP-------------

SUBS: Lindergaard - Blackett - Evans - Cleverly - Januzaj - Welbeck - Di Maria

Di Maria wont start, needs more time in training to find what position he'll fit in LVG philosophy. I think LVG will put him on if united are in need of some form of magic but highly doubt he'll start.

Don't do that. I laughed at that last game when 5-0 to MK Dons was leading the pole early on, and look what happened in the end.

    2:0 to Burnley.

They join the ever growing ranks of teams that play like their lives depend upon it against us, while we stroll around without a care in the world.

So with Herrera still being injured I'm going to guess we'll play like this:

    De Gea
    Jones Evans Blackett
    Valencia Fletcher Di Maria Rojo
    Mata
    Rooney Van Persie

You lot have to win this game. You guys might be mid-table dross ;) but that should still be enough to eke out a win against Burnley.

Don't be too sure. Burnley used to be one of our bogey teams back in the day. Last time we went to Turf Moor we ended up losing 0-1. With the injuries we've got, I'll be happy with a point.

Rojo still hasn't got his permit.
Bit concerned by this. I've never known it take to so long to get a work permit.

Not sure if they're legit but they were reports on Twitter suggesting he had some trouble with the police too, something about a suspected bottle attack or something crazy?

But yeah, he needs to get this permit sorted sharpish.

It has to do with something about that.

I'm no expert when it comes to the process of granting working permits but I see no other reason why this would take so long.
