Rooney will be lucky to be on the bench. Jose was throwing him a bone today with our easiest remaining game of the season and he blew it.
Easiest game on paper, but probably the hardest we've had for a while.

Swansea were very good today and were unlucky not to come away with three points.

But blaming Rooney as usual is fecking ridiculous. He was poor, but who wasn't?

On their day they can be really dangerous going forward. But they also have it in them to concede 3-4 a match. If we had enough fit players, I'd say it's a team that Mourinho's pedantic counter-attacking could flourish against.

This is true but we don't have it in us to score 3-4 goals in a game!

    De Gea
    Valencia--Darmian--Blind--Young
    Herrera--Fellaini--Pogba
    Mkhitaryan--Rashford--Martial

subs: Romero, Tuanzebe, (U23 defender) Carrick, Lingard, Mata, Rooney

That backline is truly sickening. If Bailly is fit, start him centre back and play Darmain LB. I don't want Young starting LB but then I don't want Tuanzebe starting at the back for this.

Looks like they're playing Bilbao at 7.45 pm this evening. Would a La Liga expert tell us whether they're resting players this evening. Do they have any injuries? Who are their key players?

Can't believe I actually care about this sort of info now, that's what it's come to!

Will Jose trust Tuanzebe in this one?

With Shaw possibly being out, then maybe he'll have to play him. Or maybe he'll put Young left back, with Darmian in the middle as we saw today.
If he didn't think to throw him in today, then no chance.

In Europe it's probably safer to play a couple of non specialist first teams there, rather than a specialist who has zero experience.

Can't imagine Celta will put the ball in the air as much as most Premier league teams.

Rossi, Planas and Blanco are the only injuries I know they have. Rossi probably the only player who may have featured against us.

I think it's too risky to start him in a game of such importance. Would rather have Darmian at CB, apparently he started his career at CB

If we are not up physically for this game we wont get anything from it.

Celta are a tough team to play. Technical and play with a pretty high tempo.

If we re dead physically we will loose for sure.

Need to be fresh and solid and hope for a draw.

That's a fair number of players rested.

Cabral, Jonny, Sisto, Radoja, Mallo, Aspas, Hernandez.

So yeah, a B team tonight.
Sisto...I remember him from the FC Midgyland game from last season. Scored a couple against us...

Herrera, Fellaini, and Pogba in midfield is pretty much a certainty. Valencia, Darmian, and Blind will also play for sure. The front three will probably be Mkhitaryan, Rashford and Martial. Bench houses Carrick, Mata, Lingard, and Rooney which makes things look a bit stronger in terms of options to change the game. The rest is basically a case of who is fit enough. I am hoping Smalling or Jones make it back a bit sooner as their estimated return dates were around the Arsenal game I believe. Maybe Bailly will actually be OK if he just rests up rather than trains? Otherwise, it's Darmian at CB and Young at LB.

    de Gea
    Valencia Darmian Blind Young
    Herrera Fellaini Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rashford Martial
    ---
Romero; Tuanzebe; McTominay, Carrick, Mata, Lingard; Rooney

If we are still this depleted then I think coming away with a 2-1 defeat is not a bad result, as long as that's the worst case scenario. I think we'd still nick the tie over two legs with that, provided we get a couple of players back from injury and nobody else takes a knock.

He's done pretty well this season. Unfortunately if we do have problems at the back, I imagine Aspas is going to be a handful, he was already going to be a problem as it was.

Pogba Fellaini and Mkhi will be fresh.

Rashford is 19 and will recover until then.

Just like Blind Martial and Darmian didnt played much this year.

Im concerned for Herrera thats why I would play him deeper. And of course Valencia is tired but we dont have many option

I'd be tempted to go back to the 5-3-2 with the injuries for the first leg to try and protect the backline a bit.

    De Gea
    Valencia Darmian Carrick Blind Young
    Herrera Fellaini Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rashford

Subs: Romero, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Mata, Lingard, Martial, Rooney

That ll work for me to be honest. Just make sure that Carrick is not dead because he really played a lot recently but Id say that it d be a good line up

This must be one of the biggest games in their history. I guess they have never played in an European final. Will be a very tough game, we'll play very defensively.

    Which will suit us imo.
Especially Rashford. Saying all that we so need a new winger next year.

Wouldn't call Pogba 'fresh' as he's recovering from an injury. Rashford might recover, but even at that age fatigue, and especially the mental side might show.

Celta playing now. Seems like their fans have taken a leaf out of City's books and come dressed as empty blue shirts.

This will be very tough. If we could get two away goals we will be doing well. But its going to be tough.

Nearly had a stroke the last europa match so not looking forward to this one.

Our most important game this year.

Don't know much about Celta but this could be their biggest game ever.

So I expect them to come in full force at us. We'll need live through that pressure and try to hurt them on the counter.

Jose will have to have one hell of a motivational speech before the game. No shying over this one, every one of them needs to put 100 percent and leave the heart on the pitch.

Or eat grass how we say here.

I think we need to make it a scrappy game(for the away tie at least). The worst thing we can do here is open the game up and go toe to toe as that's when they are at their best and at the moment we don't have the players to play teams like Celta off the park. They absolutely destroyed Barcelona a few months ago, they relentlessly pressed the Barcelona back line when they tried to play out. Having said that it's not something Mourinho would do anyway. Keep it tight and try and nick a goal.

I have watched 5 minutes of Celta Vigo vs Athletic Bilbao (including Celta conceding from a corner) just now and I'm ready to conclude that Celta are shit. :p

Bilbao have taken the lead. They are taking a hell of a risk. They have to get through to the EL final and win it or their fans will go nuts.
