    De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Smalling - Blind
    Fellaini - Pogba
    Mata- Herrera - Lingard
    Zlatan

Unfortunately I don't think Mata will start this game. Which means our creativity and fast-flowing football goes out the window. Lingard over Martial for me purely because he's better defensively and scored a banger last night.

Herrera shouldn't be dropped and Fellaini did well on monday. He'll be useful defending set pieces against the likes of Costa, Cahill, Luiz, etc.

    My team:

    ---------------DDG--------------

    Val------Bailly---Smalling--Blind

    ---------Carrick---Herrera-------

    Rashford------Pogba--------Young

    ------------Martial--------------

    Predicted team:

    ---------------DDG--------------

    Val------Bailly---Smalling--Blind

    ---------Fellani---Herrera-------

    Rashford------Pogba--------Young

    ------------Ibra--------------

I have a feeling we will win this. I'll go 1-2.
Wouldn't Mourinho play Young on the right-wing so as to better defend Hazard? Or it's the opposite logic, to use Rashford against Cahill/Alonso without Hazard covering defensively?

I want Rooney up top with Ibra on the bench, a bold move but I'm hoping he would play with a point to prove. He'd offer far more mobility than the static Ibrahimovic who I think is struggling to adapt to the pace of the Premier league.

Rooney is also slow. Zlatan has the benefit of giving us hold up play and his first touch doesn't let him down constantly.

You'd have a point if Rooney was bringing something to the table over Zlatan which he doesn't. And the points you highlighted about Rooney simply aren't true. He doesn't bring movements nor mobility which Zlatan wouldn't be able to.

Rooney hasn't been great but Ibra has been awful the last few weeks, he's so slow he slows our play down.
I'd understand if you said Rashford or Martial, but Rooney is utter shite up top and I'd put my money on Zlatan any day. Needless to say, Jose will think the same.

Wow, after months of Rooney commentary, someone has really found a new angle.

Rooney more mobile than Ibra! I Love it! Unless you mean he ends up 50 yards from goal scuttling in the centre circle for no real reason?

For the first time in years we're well armed height and physicality wise to deal with any Premier league opponents.

Smalling, Bailly, Fellaini, Pogba and Ibra. That's some power!

If Smalling isn't fit then put Bailly & Blind centre-back and Shaw at LB.

If Martial was going to start on Sunday, Mourinho would have taken him off early. I think it'll be Lingard & Young on the wings or Rashford & Young again. He will want the defensive discipline again and he was hugely impressed with Young's performance so I think he keeps his place.

    I think it'll be:
    De Gea
    Valencia--Bailly--Blind--Shaw
    Herrera--Fellaini--Pogba
    Lingard--Ibrahimovic--Young

If Smalling is fit then put him in for Shaw. I would rather Martial start but don't think that will happen just yet.
0-0 draw again then with that team

Tbh I really don't see the difference between either. Both have been very wasteful. Part of me just wants to see Martial up top with Mata behind him.

Same team as Liverpool. Just need Pogba and Zlatan to have better games and Martial from the bench to add options to change it up with pace which we missed. I'd take a point now and move on. Draws in those 2 games certainly won't be the reason for how how our season turns out.

    Great insight.

People will moan if we draw though.

Wow is this you @shamans? Rooney has really been gash for you to turn like this.
I've always said what I believed to have been best for Man United. I thought Rooney was gonna break through this slump (and maybe he does? probably not though) but I was wrong and things have changed. Anyway yeah he obviously deserves his current position in the squad.

I still have an issue with the disrespect he gets (those that say he NEVER was good)

Fair enough, it takes a big man and all that. Fwiw I agree that Martial is the better option uptop especially if we are going to sit deep and play on the break.

Ah they'll forgive if we then go on a run.
Really think Ibra is halting our play.
This is garbage! All our creative players have struggled to create because of where the team is at right now. Jose works on defensive solidarity, midfield combativeness and finally attacking efficiency. Basically in that order. Look at his finishing touches in the transfer market to his last title at chelsea. We'll struggle to create and finish scraps until the former is all in place. You but Ibra in the Arsenal team and he'll score for fun. He isn't misses a ton of chances right now. The chances are not there. Thats all there is to say right now!

Chelsea look average to me. Shouldn't be scared of them at all.

We are average also right now? I don't think anyone is scared. They are at home. They should win!
Just as we should at OT. A draw is a better for us than them. Simple.

Based on the logic that Blind needs protection from pace whereas Valencia at RB doesn't. I wouldn't throw Shaw into a game like this after just returning from injury.

Tbh, I get where you are coming from but I thinks it's more to do with Jose not yet knowing his best XI and finding team balance. Under no circumstance is Rooney the solution at the moment. It's not like we don't know what to expect from Zlatan. We need to work around him right now until Rashford or Martial are able to lead the line.

Zlatan is a stop gap until we get back on our feet. Rooney as a first choice on the other hand is a backward movement.

We really aren't. We're on a 6 or so unbeaten run and very much on the ascendancy.

Even the Stoke game which seem to be the odd one out result wise because we should be burying that lots, we still hammered them in open play but were very wasteful.

Genuine question: Do neutrals still see this as a big game given the slight downfall of both teams?
People see our game against Liverpool as a big one and that lots have been a mid table team for over a decade.

We'll play well as we always do at the Bridge bar the Moyes season and probably not win.

It's infuriating how many times we've played well and not come out with a win.

I could see the same happening again.

Crikey is that you Coleen? Zlatan has been good for us. Rooney for atleast 18 months has been shocking. Have a word with yourself!

Cautious approach and a scrappy draw, which I'd be happy with. I predicted 0 points from the scousers and Chelsea so a draw would be a good result.

We should be beating this lot. I'll be incredibly annoyed if somebody like Young starts ahead of Martial. And given that the latter player the full 90 the other night, I'm expecting this to happen.

Lingard and Martial should be supporting Ibrahimovic up top, with Herrera, Fellaini and Pogba in midfield.

Not looking forward to this. Couldn't bear to predict a loss for us, but not really confident. Can see Hazard upping his game:rolleyes: as well..
