Chelsea Football Club (also known as The Blues and The Pensioners) are a professional football club based in Fulham, London. Chelsea were founded on 10 March 1905 at The Rising Sun pub (now The Butcher's Hook) after Gus Mears had previously acquired the Stamford Bridge athletics stadium with the aim of turning it into a football ground. Since there was already a team named Fulham in the borough, the name of the adjacent borough, the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea, was settled on. Chelsea's first major title success came in the form of the League Cup with the appointment of former Arsenal player, Ted Drake, who also led Chelsea to the their first ever League title, enabling them to compete in the European Cup, but after objections from The Football League and the FA, Chelsea were persuaded to withdraw from the competition before it started - allowing Matt Busby's Manchester United to start their illustrious adventure with the competition.

After decades of being non-competitors, Chelsea returned to the domestic title fore in 2003 under new owner Roman Abramovich, who fueled an unprecedented spending spree - starting in the mid 2000s. Since the takeover, Chelsea have won 2 Champions League titles, 5 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cup titles, 2 Europa League titles and 3 League Cup titles. On 10 March 2022, the British government announced sanctions on Abramovich with Chelsea allowed to operate under a special license until 31 May. Subsequently, Chelsea confirmed that terms had been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss, to acquire the club. On 30 May 2022, the sale was completed, ending Abramovich's 19 year ownership of the club. Chelsea's most prominent rivalries include local clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, title rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Leeds United. Chelsea play their home games at Stamford Bridge — which had been their home for over a century.

A must win at this point. It's our seasons cup final.

Worst possible time for this fixture. They are due a win and I think they beat us. A draw would be an amazing result for us.

Well time for us to step up and make up for this shit result. Absolutely must not lose in the big picture of the top 5 race, but really, they need to go there and get a win to right the wrong of today. Hopefully Maguire is back, don't trust a single CB we have.

I don't care how crap our record is at SB, these lot better get a win after tonight.

Not a chance we win here. Especially if Mainoo isn't back.

Weird way to look at it. They are in terrible form.
So were Leeds and Newcastle? We are the team you want to play when you’re in terrible form. We’re a huge draw so teams are massively up for it against us, and we’re not exactly the kind of team who can kick you when you’re down. More plucky underdogs nowadays.

Could be a difficult game to watch for both sets of fans. Chelsea favs for the win IMO.

Time to step up and confirm CL qualification pretty much. Chelae’s are terrible at the back, we’ll score goals, just depends on how well we hold up ourselves.

They need to come at us, which will hopefully play into our hands. If we can sit back in a mid/low block and hit on the counter, that's our bread and butter, we'll have a good chance.

Team should be better with Maguire in for Martinez and Dalot for a Mazraoui. Hopefully other changes as well.

We were going to have a bad run at some point under Carrick and this is it now , 3-1 to Chelsea. I still think we’ll scrape into the top 5 but it’s not going to be pretty.

Back down to earth. Doesn’t help that our record at Stamford Bridge is generally poor

I’d run away with it if offered a draw here now.

In fairness Leeds' record at OT was pap before tonight too... so yeah. We got that going for us at least.
Would 100% take a draw yes.

Chelsea have lost 3 on the trot... I'd be over the moon with a draw. If we lose we're right back in the CL scrap with Liverpool still to come. And Brighton away. Ffs.

    We cannot afford to lose.

Draw would be amazing but i doubt it. Their defence is utter shit though so maybe we can repeat Arsenal game and counter them.

I have no doubt that Palmer will get few free kicks in dangerous zone and probably a penalty.

I think they win this and we suddenly find ourselves in 5th at the end of the weekend.

Excluding the Port Vale game, they've conceded 15 in their last 5, scoring 2.

    We may have a chance.

Momentum and narrative is huge in predicting football results, after tonight I can only imagine a loss here unfortunately.

I had a bad feeling about Leeds because this club is addicted to making things difficult for ourselves when they don't need to be.

We've given Chelsea encouragement tonight by showing that we're shite, and they can close it to just 4 points with a win.

As bad as Chelsea are, our fans might be coming to the realisation that we might be just as bad even though we've scraped a few more results than them over recent weeks.

I don't even know what we'd go with in attack - we've lost 2 games out of 3 that Sesko has started so I assume he gets dropped again - but Amad and Mbeumo hardly deserve to start either given their recent performances.

Heaven deserves to start over Yoro.

This is a guaranteed loss and makes that loss yesterday even more brutal to deal with. Absolutely unacceptable performance.

Yeh I think we'll lose this one especially with all our 1st choice defenders out.

Lead over Chelsea will be down to 4 after this weekend. Carrick being beaten by Linkedin Liam :annoyed:

Bit amusing how people point to momentum as the reason we'll lose this one when Chelsea have been hopeless and losing for more than a month now. They got clobbered by City and Everton

A big game for us and I am pleased that we are playing away. We also need the games as we looked slow and lethargic last night.

We usually play well at Stamford Bridge so I hope this continues. We will.miss Licha' and we should challenge that red card.

People forgetting how shit and inconsistent Chelsea are. We normally bounce back well.

It doesn't matter what form Chelsea and other clubs are in when they play Utd. We are everyone's cup final. Newcastle were and have been crap since they beat Utd with 10 men.

It's going to be a very tough game. I will take a draw now and keep that 7 point cushion over them. That should be enough to get us over the line.
