Why? you wanted Bailly to play again after just coming back from injury? then AWB saved for Sunday...same with Bruno&Fred...that 11 is just fine all thing considered... I just wish McTom was back

    60' Martial - Ighalo
    70' Matic - Fred
    82 Williams - Bailly.

So many of you still don't understand or accept squad rotation. These guys aren't machines. They got the shit kicked out of them against Chelsea just a few days ago (Martial, James, AWB, Fred) so there has to be rotation. Even if United lose, it's still the first leg. Looking for a tight match and could end up nil-nil, which would be a good result for United. Expect some of these players to be leggy.

Martial, Matic, and Shaw or Williams to be subbed off as second half subs should be looking ahead for Sunday's match against Watford.

A risk making 6 changes. Hopefully with Pereira, Lingard in the side its not like playing with 9 men..

I guess but if we want to be in the CL then we will have to be doing this. I understand resting Bailly, Fred, Bruno, then play Ighalo. Or unless he is waiting for him to get fit.... then why sign a player who will take a month to get fit? its been 2 weeks already.
Think we all know Ighalo was a bit of a panic loan. Anyway he hasn’t played in months I believe, guess he hasn’t looked that sharp in training or doesn’t know the way the team plays. Think it’s smart to rotate, no matter what the result is. We’ve struggled a lot against lower-down-the-table teams in PL so I guess the coaching staff is confident that this team will get a draw minimum (as they should). Anyway I’ve promised myself to not open matchday threads after the lineups get out, so that’s it for me tonight. Let’s hope for the best!

Horrendous line up. I understand shaking things up but why play both Lingard and Periera and then add to that Mata too. Why does Lingard still keeps getting chance after chance, the guy is a joke and should have been shown the door long back.
He only plays so others can rest. Not because he is good. At least thats what i think. And hope.

I fully support the changes we played 2 days ago and have another prem game at weekend. Its the correct thing to do. I’m a little surprised he didnt rest martial and play Ighalo ? But in general its right to rotate with 3 games in 7 days.
cant please everyone some would moan if he didnt make changes and plenty whine when he does.

Happy with that line up. Massive game at the weekend. Bruno has come straight in and done brilliantly - need him fresh for Sunday. Fred was overdue a rest. The only thing I would have liked to have seen would have been a start for Ighalo but he mustn't be match fit yet. That team should be enough to get the job done tonight. I actually like the 3-5-2 as well. Good to see Dalot start. Could be exceptional as a wing back.

I think there are six matches in 18 days now. Ole needs to rotate and he has to optimise over six games not one at the time. The only match I expect him to play with “the best team available” is in the second game against Brügge.

Do the coaches see Williams in midfield long term? Several times now he's played there and seems confident. Mind you, he's the type who doesn't appear to care where he plays

Agreed. Don't really give a shit about the result tonight, priority needs to be the weekend.

MY GOD do we want to get knocked out?
Why no Fred/Brono. Greenwood nowhere to be seen.
Where have you been mate? Greenwood is back in Manchester with an illness.

The other 2 are on the bench and only played on Monday and will again on Sat.

A back five against fecking Brugge. Lingard back in the starting line-up while Gomes and Chong are playing with the youth team.

And there's only been one game in that time (2 now). Still months left of the season. He clearly wasn't our first, second or third choice to bring in. Better to sign someone temporarily than not sign someone at all. I imagine he'll play 30ish minutes tonight and be ready for a start in about a week's time.

Didn’t expect that many changes but I guess Ole is looking ahead at the number of fixtures on the horizon. Last thing we need is players feeling absolutely shattered or picking up an injury

    I'm fine with that lineup

Think it is a good team because a few players are getting rest and we can't rest everyone. Not sure whether we can create enough to win, but that is a problem with the squad depth, but we definitely needed to rest some players like James and Fred.

How is it that we suffer so frequently with both injuries and illness? Surely this isn’t normal
Injuries we've known about. Nothing new in that regard, and McT is on the way back.

Players/people do get ill at this time of year...it's actually pretty normal. Athletes are more susceptible to viruses

Why has he not rested Maguire then he has played every match this season

    We all love United
We recently thrashed someone 5-0 in the FA cup with quite a similar side, didn’t we? Hopefully Brugge are as bad as them

Why no Bruno? Given the team he's picked, I can only assume Ole doesn't want to win the tie.

I don't mind the 3-5-2. We're a pretty much defence minded team anyway, however we lineup, and it allows Shaw to play as LCB which i'm starting to think is his best position.
