Crystal Palace Football Club (nicknamed CPFC, The Glaziers and The Eagles) are a professional football club based in South Norwood, London. Crystal Palace were founded in 1905 at the site of the famous Crystal Palace Exhibition building by the owners of the FA Cup Final stadium, who wanted their own team to play at the historic venue. When Crystal Palace were founded, they turned to one of the biggest clubs in the country at the time, Aston Villa, to seek advice. Villa helped the club in a number of ways, not least by donating their kit. As a result, Palace's colors were originally claret and blue shirts paired with white shorts, socks tending to be claret. They kept to this formula fairly consistently until 1938.

The club initially played their home games at the FA Cup Final stadium which was situated inside the grounds of The Crystal Palace, but the First World War saw them forced to move out, and they enjoyed a number of seasons at both the Herne Hill Velodrome and The Nest. Although Crystal Palace have never won a major trophy, they have played in the First Division for the majority of their existence, finishing 3rd once, and losing the 1990 FA Cup Final to Manchester United. Crystal Palace play their homes games at Selhurst Park, and share sporting rivalries with South London neighbors Milwall, former tenants Charlton, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Who do Liverpool and Spurs have? Looks like another must win, should be more than possible with some momentum hopefully behind us now.

This is going to be a horrible game, Palace are becoming a tough team to beat at their ground.

At least Fosu Mensah can't play :D

Liverpool have Newcastle at home, Spurs have Huddersfield at home and Chelsea have City away. So it looks like another must win.

FSW and Huddersfield respectively. Both at home.

Just because we finally got a big win doesn't mean we can relax. Every single one of our next 4 games (5 before today) are must wins (or 4 wins and 1 draw) given our form in 2018. We can't slip from 2nd. We can't lose to Liverpool at home. We need to get through the next round in the FA cup and champions league. Hopefully now they have some confidence and we can build on it.
On the game, would rest matic, give Bailly and Shaw starts, and keep the front 3. Team like palace I think we'll need martial or rashford more then lingard or mata to give the cutting edge.

    De Gea
    Valencia Lindelof Bailly Shaw
    Mctominay Carrick pogba
    Sanchez Martial
    Lukaku

    Another must win game.

Same formation as today I reckon, except for Shaw. Think he'll start this so Young plays against Pool. Not that I want this but it's predictable.

Even though they kept it at 0-0 very late against Spurs, that was more down to Spurs' slow start and wasted chances. Thought they looked poor throughout.

Today's result is great but means nothing if we can't beat these lot. Because Spurs and Liverpool will get 3 points in easy fixtures at home.

So, Crystal Palace has 12 players injured now. Maybe some will recover in these 8 days till the game. But Roy Hodgson must be doing a job on them, really.

If we attack!attack!attack! we could have this lot easy, without Zaha they’re completely toothless but it’s an away game on a Monday night, I swear we struggle in these type of games.

If I know Mourinho, he'll drop this 4-4-2 “midfield square” (or 4-2-2-2), that worked against Chelsea and more importantly managed to solve the Martial/Sánchez conundrum for a moment, for a simpler 4-3-3, or even going back to 4-2-3-1, again forcing Pogba in a midfield two. It's indeed hard to leave all of Rashford, Lingard and Mata out.

Would he drop McTominay after his recent performances, though?

Saw someone on reddit say that Matic is banned for this game...is that true or bullshit??

He's so important to us but he does desperately need a rest.

I'm not confident any more of going 2 midfielders away from home since that Newcastle game. We can always sub him off later if we struggle to score.
Who said something about two midfielders? That's why I've mentioned the Burnley away game.

Well, we have only him, Carrick, Pogba and Matic. If Scott doesn't play it'll be Lingard most probably replacing him.

Yeah, as #8. If it was sufficient for Burnley away, it should be enough for Crystal Palace. At least, that's what I'm hoping. The idea we have to play McTominay as an extra to every game Pogba plays is depressing.

That's my point. I actually don't trust this formation anymore. :D

What formation, 4-3-3? Are we going to play 4-4-2 diamond every game whatsoever now? I don't believe it.

No, as good as he's, I don't trust using Lingard as part of midfield 3 anymore. If we're going to play 4-3-3 better to do it with 3 proper midfielders imo.

Yeah, we don't want to be like City in that respect, no, gosh, to put two #10 as #8 would diminish us…

I don't think Matic has the legs to keep covering the whole defensive side on his own. He looked better with another player defending beside him as in Scott. Pogba's defensive side is a concern and Lingard isn't a proper midfield. KDB and Silva does a lot of defensive work as well as their offensive ones. We had seen Silva doing some dirty tackles against us at Old Trafford earlier.

I think playing Scott now suits everyone. Helps Matic on defensive side and allows Pogba to push forward without worrying about his defensive liability. Balance is very important.

I understand and generaly agree, I just don't feel facing Crystal Palace is the same than Chelsea with Hazard. One curious thing was Mourinho guaranteeing in the press conference after the game that “McTominay can also shoot”, like, he has other facets to his game. If that starts showing, then we have a player, even for these supposedly easier games where we should have more of possession.
