Not optimistic at all with how good Palace are defensively and how weak we are against direct attacks. We really struggle against teams who let us have possession.

Mateta will be licking his lips.

I'll probably do something else on Sunday. This game has trouble written all over it.

Sean Dyche would set this team up better than Amorim

This is a chance to see if we fall back into self-pity like most of last season, or if the team is actually willing and capable of standing up and doing something.

Hopefully Cunha is going to be back, so we have more options going forward. Can't say I'm looking forward to this game though. Something just tells me we'll be shite.

Believe it my friend. We are turning a corner this weekend. The time has come, we aren’t going lower than the Everton performance.
Quote me if any of those points don’t happen.

Hey, I love the idea of Zirkzee doubling his league goals for us in one match as much as the next guy. Here's hoping - what odds did you get for this?

I know it was only Liverpool, but we did win away.

That's typical of United under Amorim though. I could be wrong but I feel like our only away wins have been Liverpool, City and relegation sides.

Against any other side I expect to lose.

It will be a competitive game, but United will have chances to win the game for sure.

But the team has been very tepid in the last 3 games, almost like that is their style. Can't see that changing, but all they need to do is take a few chances and hope it's enough.

Despite to negativity, United had plenty of chances to beat Everton. So there isn't any need to be overly doom and gloom.

Early kick off too, all the makings of a disaster

It's always the games everyone expects us to lose and where fans are proclaiming a massive spanking ahead when we get a surprise win.
In fact that pattern is so well established, even going back to the Ole days, that a win on the weekend can't come as a surprise.

Hopefully Cunha and Maguire back for this one. Wish Ruben would change the midfield, but it'll be Bruno & Casemiro :smirk:

    D or L.

Winning this could easily make up for Monday, but even if we start well and go ahead, I don't see us hanging on to a win. This team isn't stable and will eventually crumble. Especially once our midfield/forwards get tired and we lose any outlet to relieve pressure.

Hard to see us winning, we're so so bad away from home, and I think the Everton game has opened people's eyes that we're just not very good at football.

The only thing in our favour is Palace play away in Europe on Thursday night and we play them early Sunday. But do they even play any significant part of their first 11 in these Europa Conference games?

If we do somehow pull off a win, we're somewhat back on track for what I expected because I thought we'd beat Everton but then lose or draw to Palace. So if we swap the results it's not the end of the world.

The important thing was to win at least 4 out of 5 in the kind run of games we had - Everton home, Palace away, West Ham home, Wolves away, Bournemouth home. So we can't really afford more slip ups on this run, because afterwards AFCON will screw us and you're not going to get a kind run of 5 games very often.

They normally do. They have a very thin squad. Made one change and three changes from the preceding Premier League games in their last two Conference League matches

He will have to post palace cause case is going to get another yellow and suspended.

Weirdly confident about this one, confident about a loss.

Can’t realisticly see us winning this but there is always hope.

Just hoping we come out and show a much improved attitude.

Palace will want us to have the ball so question is will we fall into that trap.

Unfortunately you'd have to say yes.

We should play them as if they're Arsenal.

Get a mid block going, be compact and counter. They're the home team. Let them have the ball.

What I would do to see:

    Lammens
    Maz. Yoro DeLigt Shaw
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Bruno
    Amad Mbeumo Cunha
This demonstrates a narrative I regularly hear about in the media regarding formation, I don't believe it's the issue - Part of it is personnel and the other part is the amount of changes, for example when Sesko was out, we moved Zirkzee in, moved Amad to 10, moved Maz to RB, regularly we bring on Maguire and don't just replace him for the RCB, we move MDL there and put Maguire in the middle which just results in so much movement.

    Lammens
    Maz MDL Yoro
    Amad Casemiro Mainoo Shaw
    Mbuemo Bruno
    Cunha

It's the same players as you have in the formation we play, too many people don't realise the formation isn't the issue but the system (Instructions on how to play, where to be etc) and the constant changes are the issue.

The only thing that gives us a chance is the fact they play 8pm in France on Thursday then midday on Sunday (that scheduling seems so unfair - when teams play Wednesday in champions league Im sure they aren’t allowed the early Saturday slot)

Sarr& Munoz will have a field day on the transition vs us.

It's one of those horrible away games, where we usually wear a silly kit and the camera angle is low. Never goes well.

Never been more convinced of not just a loss but a really poor display too. Casemiro out, away from home, back in poor form

Our only saving grace is if he actually behaves like a top flight manager and pulls off a tactical masterstroke, or changes up the formation unexpectedly

Won’t happen though, so 3 or 4-0 to Palace

According to xG CP have been underperforming this season. I think they'll make up for their bet xG in the game against us and score a couple of absolute screamers. We are the right club to start performing better again.

Think it's been confirmed he is a booking shy of a ban so should be available for this one.

    What I’d like to see

    Lammens

Yoro De Ligt Martinez (if fit)/Heaven

    Amad Mainoo Casemiro Shaw

    Mbeumo Cunha Bruno

I understand the injury risk of Shaw, but play him 60 to 70 mins in a role that is better suited for him.

Instead I expect a flat back line of 5 defenders and the same shite we saw last week. Seriously feck Amorim.

Amorim vs possible successor. Will be interesting.
I seriously hope not. Glasner has done well but if we want to build a progressive side that maintains possession and can break teams down then it’s not him. His teams thrive on transition and sitting back deep, something we all complained Ole did too much of.

Thats not the only style Glasner favours. I think he mentioned in an interview that 442 or 433 is his favourite system but he can't do that at Palace.

Hopefully nothing worse than a draw.

Surprised some of the best and most upstanding United fans haven't yet been here to scold posters for being overly negative.

Actually that is the usual United style of old. Ole started failing when he tried to depart from that

Miraculous win to setup another false dawn, then get shit on by West Ham and draw Wolves.

we are lucky they play Thursday away to Strasbourg
It won't matter. We were playing against 10 men Everton and they scored while a man down and held on for the win. If its 11 vs 11, they would have battered us 3-0.
