Most of these players would struggle to make the bench for other clubs, so they'd only look better insofar as their limitations wouldn't be exposed. Plus the pressure for almost all other clubs is much lower than at United.
I think many of them are aware that they aren't good enough, especially with how they're unable to cope with the physicality of the opposition, and that leads to them playing too safe and slow. But the key factor is ability, or the lack thereof.

What's clear is Amorim with his system has not gotten us anywhere. They are playing well below what they can as a team. It's not just the formation, like say he changes to 4-3-3 or something it won't necessarily be better cuz he simply is not a good enough coach imo.
