    Pre-Match Pressers

    Louis Van Gaal

    Leonid Slutsky
"We have played a lot of games against big clubs - some have gone well, some a little worse - so we're ready," the CSKA boss said on Tuesday.

"These back-to-back matches are always crucial; we have to respect our opponents and be aware that we aare up against a giant side, but we have the right to hope for a positive result.

"We have a team with plenty of experience"

Slutsky feels that whoever Van Gaal selects for this week's game will make United a formidable opponent.

"[Manchester] United made several changes for their last Premier League game, but I don't think that was anything to do with playing against us," he added.

"I think they will have a similar line-up to the one that faced Everton. United are a top club regardless, and whoever plays for them will be very strong."

    Team News

All the way to Russia for this one. I can see us resting a few big players for the derby coming up, but I expect us to win.

    Anyone you'd rest completely?

    And anyone you'd definitely start?

    Play Mephis, Blind, Fellaini.

Id leave smalling and martial at home.

I wouldn't rest anyone. Put a good team out..the CL is what these players want to play in, they dream of it and it's the competition all want to be involved in.

Tough away game this. Would be huge if we get a win. Expect us to rotate a bit with us playing against City next weekend. City have a very hard game against Sevilla as well, but they're at home so it's a bit more favorable to them IMO.

    Martial Rooney Mata
    Schneiderlin Herrera
    Schweinsteiger
    Blind Jones Smalling Darmian/Valencia
    De Gea

Wouldn't be surprised to see Memphis come in to have Martial fresh for City. Same with Carrick in for Schweinsteiger.

It is funny how voting for next game prediction is diametrically opposite immediately after a game
After Arsenal game, more were predicting Everton win and now almost no CSKA win prediction till now and overwhelming prediction of win. If we compare the venues, traveling to Moscow is almost similar tough venue.

The timing of this trip is a bit shit. Still, send a good team and get the job done. Can't be taking too many chances in the group after the PSV loss.

Start your best players, if we're winning, then we can start to take players off to give rests. This is a must win.

Depends what we want to prioritise really. CSKA aren't really on the level of City so perhaps we can rest a few players.
We prioritise whatever competition we are in. We hated not being in the CL last year...so we have to field a strong side to remain in it. There is no point in fighting to get into the CL and everyone bleating about getting 4th or 5th and then not taking it totally seriously each game. I expect LVG to do just that.

    Darmian Smalling Jones Rojo
    Carrick
    Herrera Fellaini
    Mata Rooney Memphis

Resting Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin (more of a rotation for a physical Fellaini) and Martial for City, this team should do the job.

Aren't games in Russia usually held a couple of hours before the normal CL time? Thought won't have to stay up late for this one. :(

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Jones Blind
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Lingard Herrera Depay
    Rooney
Would be happy with a 1-0.

Same, but I fear Mike is too important to drop. Rojo and Jones had a good game against the Toffees though, hopefully they will be able to keep that going.

I'd definitely start Memphis and Herrera. Also hope to see some of Pereira and Jesse if we are two up by halftime.

I don't think we should change the back 4 after that performance. I imagine it will be pretty much the same team with maybe Carrick in for Schweini.

This will be no walk in the park they have a better team than PSV and playing away in Moscow won't be easy so resting to many players could end up costing us.

It's played on a different stadium though, Arena Khimki
We're not playing there though unfortunately :( it's being renovated, the track's been taken out and two tiers are being installed I think.

Blind, Carrick and Memphis to start I reckon.
Yep, they're renovating for the World Cup I think. Does anyone know why this is being played at 19.45 UK time rather than at 17.00 like you would normally expect for a Russian away game? Seems strange to be kicking off at 21.45 their time.

These guys are no pushovers. Their front 3 is quick and skillful. Seydou Doumbia, zoran Tosic and Ahmed Musa can hurt anyone.

Didn't we play at an earlier kickoff time the last time we played against CSKA a few years back?
