Everton Football Club (nicknamed The Toffees and The Blues) are a professional football club based in Liverpool, England. Everton were founded as St Domingo FC in 1878 so that members of the congregation of St Domingo Methodist New Connexion Chapel in Breckfield Road North, Everton could play sport year round – cricket was played in summer. The club's first game was a 1–0 victory over Everton Church Club. The club was renamed Everton in November 1879 after the local area, as people outside the congregation wished to participate. The club was a founding member of the Football League in 1888–89 and won their first League Championship title in the 1890–91 season. Everton won the FA Cup for the first time in 1906 and the League Championship again in 1914–15. The outbreak of the First World War in 1914 interrupted the football programme while Everton were champions, which was something that would again occur in 1939.

It was not until 1927 that Everton's first sustained period of success began. In 1925 the club signed Dixie Dean from Tranmere Rovers. In 1927–28, Dean set the record for top-flight league goals in a single season with 60 goals in 39 league games, which is a record that still stands. He helped Everton win their third League Championship that season. Everton's second successful era started when Harry Catterick was made manager in 1961. In 1962–63, his second season in charge, Everton won the League Championship. In 1966 the club won the FA Cup with a 3–2 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Everton again reached the final in 1968, but this time were unable to overcome West Bromwich Albion at Wembley. Two seasons later in 1969–70, Everton won the League Championship, finishing nine points clear of nearest rivals Leeds United. During this period, Everton were the first English club to achieve five consecutive years in European competitions – covering the seasons from 1961–62 to 1966–67. Howard Kendall took over as manager and guided Everton to their most successful era. Domestically, Everton won the FA Cup in 1984 and two League Championships in 1984–85 and 1986–87. In Europe, the club won its first, and so far only, European trophy by securing the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1985.

All in all, Everton have won 15 major trophies: the League Championship nine times (fourth most as of 2017–18), the FA Cup five times (ninth most) and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup once. The club have also competed in the top division for a record 114 seasons, missing the top division only four times (1930–31 and three consecutive seasons starting with 1951–52). Everton have play their homes games at Goodison Park since 1892, after moving from Anfield following a row over its rent. Their biggest rivals are neighbors Liverpool, against whom they contest the Merseryside Derby.

Agree with this set-up. Let Amad take the bench for a bit.

Is it too much to hope that Mount and de Ligt are available for this?

Let's hope we can make up for the humiliation that we endured in the reverse fixture.

With Maguire likely to be out we need an update on de Ligt

Fecking hell, this is ages away! Hopefully get some of our injured players like De Ligt & Dorgu back for this.

Moyes' Everton away... Can't say I'm positive we're getting result we need.

Long way to go until D-day, but this match will answer if Carrick has learned from his mistake tonight.

I hate that it's another Monday night game. Playing away games on night times is way harder than a Saturday or Sunday afternoon kickoff.

Needs to be a better performance but we could also do with some more luck. Might be easier against a team not fighting for their lives. Who knows. I’m not confident but still think there’s a decent chance we get a result.

Everton are another twattish team that will be well up for this just like West Ham. I hope we get revenge for the 1-0 loss at home against 10 men for 90% of the match.

I know. Just a bit bummed after today’s performance. Hopefully was a one-off.
We lose tonight’s game easily with Amorin. 13-15 pts with Carrick, 9 unbeaten now. Always going to be a dogfight that tonight against a West Ham team fighting for their lives and Nuno in charge. That’s a good point and a never say die attitude. Well beat Everton, it’ll be another tough game but they’ll have to come out and play their fans will demand that. Good times are coming!

He won’t though. Carrick never changes the starting 11 unless there’s an injury. He also makes subs in the 70 min every game

That is so true. I want to play them Saturday afternoon, not even half as difficult as MNF at a midtable side.

Carrick should learn from the Westham game, it will be very similar. Fired up atmosphere, aggression, on form team. We have to prevent them from nicking the first goal at all costs and finish one ourselves.

PS: Just saw Everton haven‘t won at home in over 2.5 months

Uh oh can smell us snapping that streak

Dalot, and either Cunha/Amad can't really complain if they're left out of this one for Mazraoui and Sesko. I also think we need to get Lacey back on the bench as another player who can potentially provide good width in games like last night.

Grealish is out for the season, not sure how he’s been getting on recently but surely that’s a blow for them.

Started the season well and contributed a lot but next to nothing the last weeks, won´t influence the game too much. It will be all about aggression and punishing them on a few chances.

He played well all season. He may not have had goal and assist numbers but a lot of his game is about what he offers in terms of providing time and space for others, getting 'pre-assists' so to speak and winning fouls. It helps when you're under the cosh. He's a big miss because he had a great relationship with KDH on that left side which negated the piss poor attacking ability of Mykolenko.

I’d be more confident of this was at home. Right now I’m sensing our first defeat under Carrick, especially if we play similarly to last night.

Another test to see if our 4-game winning run was pure Vibes FC or something more significant

Sesko in, Diallo rested for me n all. Maybe Maz in at RB to provide a bit more of a threat going forward. Our two FBs didn't help much on that front last night. They need to be putting some balls over for a big lad, even if his feet finishing seems to be better than his heading prowess.

What a goal though. Still haven't got over it. So casual. Even the celebration. Deserves a start now.

They've been patchy at best but no doubt will be up for this. I thought we handled West Ham well enough last night, I was expecting them to come out of the traps. Need to be similarly solid and a bit more expansive and quick in the attack.
