I’d be more confident of this was at home. Right now I’m sensing our first defeat under Carrick, especially if we play similarly to last night.
Everton have been better away recently. Haven't won H since 6 Dec. Away they're 5-2-1 since they won at OT. Looks like they haven't quite settled into the new stadium, or perhaps their Moyes system just suits playing away better n sitting back.

I remember it was at Goodison Park that I realised appointing Solksjaer was a shocking mistake. We conceded four goals that day in his first season. It will be interesting to see how Carrick gets on in a reasonably similar position going into this.

After a 12 day rest with no internationals, no european football, no cup games and all the luxuries at new Carrington, i expect 15+ players at 100% fitness/energy level, ready to leave their soul on the pitch. Nothing else can and should be expected. So don´t even get started with the slow start till minute 30.

I hope the long gap between games is more of a positive rather than a negative. To put a positive spin on last night, it will be good to see how Carrick and the team can react to a performance and result that was a bit more on the weaker side.

Everton does normally make it a bit of a scrap and a tight affair, however. Looking at their recent run of results since the start of the year:

    Everton 2-4 Brentford
    Everton 1-1 Wolves
    Everton 1-1 Sunderland
    Aston Villa 0-1 Everton
    Everton 1-1 Leeds
    Brighton 1-1 Everton
    Fulham 1-2 Everton
    Everton 1-2 Bournemouth

Bar Brentford this year (which was the first game after the Christmas/New Year period) it's always been close - at least in terms of the final result. Lots of score-draws or winning/losing by the odd goal. They've only lost by 3 goals twice this season and those were in October/November. Even losing by 2 goals has only occurred three times. We will do quite well to win this game 1-2, given Everton's pretty poor home form we should be confident of getting the result. If we can win 0-2/1-3 that would be a fantastic result IMO.

People calling every other opposition the "bogey team" need to realise that we have been shit for years.

Long time, ain't it? Plus I'm working when this game takes place so will have to try to avoid the result before I can finally watch it.

The last time we had a break last this last Feb, we came back with 3 players inexplicably injured.

Just noticed that Everton are also having a long break as Sunderland knocked them out of the FA Cup the other week.

I think he right thing to do would to let Everton win after Ratcliffe's comments

Everton 3 - 0 with only foreign players scoring and United players standing still.

Is Dorgu and De Ligt back for this one? Also Harry seemed injured last game, hope no news there.

Another tricky game. Wonder if Dorgu will be fit.

If Harry is out, get Yoro in, really impressive outing last time out.

Other than that, need to get Sesko in, I'd start with Mbeumo and then bring on Amad against tired legs. Really need to get Cunha more in that left half-space and get him to take shots. Especially against teams that sit back.

Thought Dorgu was out for a couple months rather than a few weeks

It will be a tough game but all games are at this stage of the season. Need to be winning this one with how tight it is now for the CL places. I’m confident we won’t lose it, it’s just whether we can create enough chances and take them when they come to get the 3 points. Remember, they comfortably prevented us from scoring at OT whilst playing with 10 men for 80 minutes, so we’ll need to do more than pass it sideways for 90 minutes and hope they leave space in behind.

Dorgu and MdL are both out. Maguire is a doubt and Mount would do well to make the bench by the sounds of it. I’d also start Sesko but Carrick may view his as a super sub at this point.

After Carrick's manager of the month award, this is guaranteed win for Everton, unfortunately. Would be very surprised if we won.

    Yeah working well for Sesko
Yep. It doesn’t work like it used to playing the into form.

Oh man let’s not be so negative. I would be surprised if we didn’t. I hope the weeks go well at training

Don’t expect Everton to play quite as deep as anticipated.

    1-3

The low block excuse won't stand this time round, we have had enough days to come up with a counter

Amad needs to sit this out. I hope Sesko continues his good form against what can be at times a very stubborn Everton defence.

We’ve not managed to find a style that works and the team can handle in years and years when it comes to this. An extra week is nothing

Indeed, we're capable of going on a good run every now and then but ultimately I think the West Ham performance was probably closer to our true level.
