    Everton Football Club (nicknamed The Toffees and The Blues) are a professional football club based in Liverpool, England. Everton were founded as St Domingo FC in 1878 so that members of the congregation of St Domingo Methodist New Connexion Chapel in Breckfield Road North, Everton could play sport year round – cricket was played in summer. The club's first game was a 1–0 victory over Everton Church Club. The club was renamed Everton in November 1879 after the local area, as people outside the congregation wished to participate. The club was a founding member of the Football League in 1888–89 and won their first League Championship title in the 1890–91 season. Everton won the FA Cup for the first time in 1906 and the League Championship again in 1914–15. The outbreak of the First World War in 1914 interrupted the football programme while Everton were champions, which was something that would again occur in 1939.

    It was not until 1927 that Everton's first sustained period of success began. In 1925 the club signed Dixie Dean from Tranmere Rovers. In 1927–28, Dean set the record for top-flight league goals in a single season with 60 goals in 39 league games, which is a record that still stands. He helped Everton win their third League Championship that season. Everton's second successful era started when Harry Catterick was made manager in 1961. In 1962–63, his second season in charge, Everton won the League Championship. In 1966 the club won the FA Cup with a 3–2 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Everton again reached the final in 1968, but this time were unable to overcome West Bromwich Albion at Wembley. Two seasons later in 1969–70, Everton won the League Championship, finishing nine points clear of nearest rivals Leeds United. During this period, Everton were the first English club to achieve five consecutive years in European competitions – covering the seasons from 1961–62 to 1966–67. Howard Kendall took over as manager and guided Everton to their most successful era. Domestically, Everton won the FA Cup in 1984 and two League Championships in 1984–85 and 1986–87. In Europe, the club won its first, and so far only, European trophy by securing the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1985.

    All in all, Everton have won 15 major trophies: the League Championship nine times (fourth most as of 2017–18), the FA Cup five times (ninth most) and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup once. The club have also competed in the top division for a record 114 seasons, missing the top division only four times (1930–31 and three consecutive seasons starting with 1951–52). Everton have play their homes games at Goodison Park since 1892, after moving from Anfield following a row over its rent. Their biggest rivals are neighbors Liverpool, against whom they contest the Merseryside Derby.

    I’d consider Maz & Yoro at full back, bar that same starting 11 for me.
     
    Probably go the same team as today, except Santos in for Tielemans.

    It could turn into another game where we're crying out for a target in the box, but Sesko doesn't look ready to start, and hard to change the attack after scoring 5 goals.
     
    I think Shaw, Tielemans and Martinez need to play to shake off the rusty moments. Best to keep the quality in the team, I don't think Mazraoui is as good a left back as Shaw and I am not sure Santos is really as good a player as Tielemans. I do think we need better structure up front ideally. Sesko in for any of the current top three would be good if he is fit enough.

    Mbeumo is probably the worst performer in the attack, however - he is the hardest to take out of the team currently as he is the only natural right sided player (well, except Lacey).

    We do need a proper striker in the team though.
     
    Everton at home should try and attack us so we should play on the counter and pick the team accordingly, which actually the same team but some positional changes.

    • Dalot deserves to stay in team after today but good to see Yoro get minutes and play well
    • Shaw has to stay in as I don’t think Carrick will play Heaven or Dorgu there and probably shouldn’t away to Everton, it will be hostile.
    • Tielemens needs game time and can play those quick passes on the counter.
    • Front four stay the same in different positions.

    We should play on the ground as any other top team does. Unless we have a TAA or anyone with the quality cross on him. And I dont know Sesko is a bit overrated, only really scored a single header last year and he's got presence but is not the best header of the ball either. Cunha has done well with the two As and if it comes through the middle or crosses it doesnt matter.

    Also statistically it's a low conversion rate for crosses. Not sure if hoofing the ball up can bring the game to Everton whos CBs will be pumped, even if Sesko wins headers it takes time to bring the ball down or head it to the right player again not the most efficeint build up unles syou have someone like Drogba or anyone who can trap the ball for good. Sesko's hold up play is hit and miss for a man of his stature.

    I'm fine with playing on the floor but if the game then looks anything like Hull where we could still be playing now and not score then it's a problem.

    Brighton and Palace were his two headed goals. Note he also had the 2nd best non-pen goals per 90 in the league after Haaland.

    It's not just about heading. Sesko scored from getting on the end of wide deliveries against Brentford, Villa, Fulham, Sunderland, Burnley, West Ham and Liverpool.

    Ultimately, we seem to struggle with low blocks no matter who plays. In these types of games you need your defence to keep a clean sheet so one goal will be enough to win it, because chances can be hard to come by. But we can't trust our defence, so we need to create a lot of chances to win a game.
     
    Not convinced we’re going to get anything away to them. Everton have so far had a good start to the season.
     
    Same team but Santos for Tielmans and Sesko up front instead. Feels like it's time he started, so we can reach our crossing quota instead of reaching it before he even comes on.

    Rashford could play on the right but yes he probably wouldn't be as good as Mbeumo there so no point. I would put Cunha on the bench on form.

    I’d be tempted to put santos in next to Mainoo. Tielemans didn’t look great in the first away game and think we may need a bit more defensive awareness away from home.

    I’d keep Rashford. His directness will be vital away from home. Also he can actually cross if we have Šeško on the pitch. I’d take Cunha out for Šeško.

    Don't think either have been great in competitive games so far but Youri improved a lot as the game went on. I'd stick with him and the role Kobbie was asked to play also saw him play sensationally well so just crack on with that partnership and let Tielemans get even sharper.

    No idea who starts against City. I have no fear playing Kobbie, Tielemans and Bruno against their fairly shoddy midfield options. This ain't the City of 3 years ago. But I have no issue with Santos starting either.

    You do realise they have Anderson, Bouaddi and most likely Enzo so how are those shoddy options

    Anderson is a good player but not as good as Mainoo.

    Bouaddi I can't speak on Ligue 1 but he didn't remotely impress me in the World Cup and Enzo is a good attacking threat but very average in a pivot.

    Their forward options will be a big threat of course but I feel like we can properly win midfield battles against them for the first time in 10 years.

    Anyway, Everton first!
     
    I'm glad they're selling Ndiaye, little fecker played well against us both times we played them last season. Still will be a tough game though.
     
    Need to back up the 2nd half performance against Ipswich here. Don’t think Everton will defend deep… their at home and will probably give it ago against us

    He has been performing well to be fair to him. I loved that when he lost the ball yesterday he tracked back and won it back. Old Rashford gives up
