Huddersfield Town Association Football Club (nicknamed The Terriers) is a professional football club based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Huddersfield Town were founded in In 1908 at the Albert pub as Huddersfield and the Huddersfield Association Football Ground Co. was formed and, with capital of £500, set about purchasing the Leeds Road recreation fields. The stadium just started as a pitch but was still ready for their first game, which was a local semi-final. On 15 August 1908, Huddersfield Town Association Football Club was registered as a limited company with Fred Walker being appointed as the club's first manager.

In 1910, just three years after being founded, Huddersfield entered the Football League for the first time. In November 1919 a fund-raising campaign was needed to avoid a move to Leeds. Citizens of Huddersfield were asked to buy shares in the club for £1 each, and the club staved off the proposed merger. The team went on to reach the 1920 FA Cup Final and win promotion to Division One.

In 1926, Huddersfield became the first English team to win three successive league titles – a feat that only three other clubs (Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United) have been able to match. Huddersfield Town also won the FA Cup in 1922 and have been runners-up on four other occasions. During the club's heyday, on 27 February 1932 the club achieved a record attendance of 67,037 during their FA Cup 6th round tie against Arsenal at Leeds United. This attendance has been bettered by only 13 other clubs in the history of the Football League. After the Second World War, the club began a gradual decline, losing its First Division status in 1952. After two seasons in the top division in the early 1970s the club spent 45 years in the second, third and fourth tiers of English football before being promoted to the Premier League in 2017

Huddersfield Town's main rivals are Leeds United (although there is never a shortage of beef with neighbours, Bradford City). There are also smaller rivalries with Barnsley, Oldham Athletic and formerly with near neighbours Halifax Town. They play their home games at Kirklees Stadium - having moved there in 1994.

    Let's predict how it'll go...

We'll spend the first 45 minutes hoofing it about and struggling to break down Huddersfield's defence. We may have one decent chance.
Second half we'll dominate possession for 20 minutes and maybe create another chance. We will probably score it.
We'll spend the last 20 minutes hoofing the ball about and inviting pressure on to ourselves. We'll concede a few chances and De Gea will rescue us.
If we're lucky we'll score another goal on the counter late in the game. If not we'll win it 1-0

    The United way.

We're likely to be fielding Romero. Romero and Shaw are the only two players I can confidently say will be playing. Rest of the side is tough due to the injuries we have.

If Martial starts on the right, Pogba starts in a midfield two and our players play like they've never met before, let alone played football together, I'm going to assume that I'm trapped in some kind of Kafkaesque nightmare.

I can honestly say I don’t care about this game or the rest of the season. It’s all elementary because we aren’t going to win either of the competitions we’re still in.

Trust me, mate, I feel this way too but it’s because we were absolute shite today for the second week in a row. However, as Chelsea and Liverpool both showed in the UCL, it really is about who turns up on the day with the Cup, so we’ve got a better chance than you think. I’m sure you’ll feel differently when we’re lining up against Sevilla.

Table says we are 2nd with one of the best defensive records in the league, but you'd be mad to think that when you watch us play lately. Such uninspired and unmotivated performances make me question why i even bother to watch anymore. It's getting to the stage where i am reaching Moyes/LVG-esque apathy towards following us.

I hate saying and feeling such negative things, but i honestly think we'll get beaten here too, all teams really have to do is play defensively press high and we fold like a deck of cards. Spurs and Newcastle have proved this among everyone else that has beaten us this season, and you know what they say, bad stuff happens in 3's.

Things always look bleak after a performance/result like this but the beauty of football is that you still look forward to the next game with hope that things could be better.

This is a must win cup tie for us, crashing out of this competition could completely wreck our morale.

Season is finished if we don't win this game. The only trophy realistically we can win. More important than the CL. Team should be:

    Romero
    Valencia Bailly Rojo Shaw
    Carrick McTominay
    Mata Pogba Sanchez
    Lukaku

4-2-3-1 trundles on, Rashford and Herrera likely wont be fit and I expect the back 5 to be altered.

It's more important to finish top four now. Not in the mood untill our next league game.

I get hardly interested in these cup games after a league lose. Even though it's the only trophy we can win this season, I hardly care about it at the moment.

    Blimey, cheer up people.
We've every chance in this cup, but we need to be a lot more on the ball than today's showing, although if Martial or Sanchez scored their great chances it'd have been a lot different.

Think I’m gonna skip this one and watch it on replay or listen to it on the radio. Tired of delaying my projects to watch us live and end up pissed off in the end.

I probably have an unpopular opinion on how we should lineup. Given how they played when we faced them in the league, I'd want to rest Sanchez, Martial, Matic and Pogba.

    Hoping for a no-nonsense ref.

At the risk of losing, we need to bring wholesale changes to this match with upcoming CL away match to Sevilla and yesterday's performance both being factors.
Romero, Lindelof, Rojo, Shaw, McTominay, Mata should all be playing. Herrera and Rashford too, if fit. Darmian will get in by default at RB and stink up the place. Carrick can also play but I think he should be preserved, if there is any hope of 3 man midfield vs Sevilla.

Totally see us losing this with a pivot of Pogba and Matic.

The Pivot doesn't do us much good since our CBs are generally bad with the ball at their feet. Any form of pressing will result with the ball being played long since the passing option to the midfield is limited to only Matic. So, we play it long, Lukaku doesn't hold it up and we invite pressure again.

    Rinse and repeat.

I think that is a good team, a decent pairing of Rojo and Lindelof, plus a midfield three. If Pogba appears to be playing in a different universe then get him off sharpish and put Herrera on.

    They beat us in Huddersfield.
So, for them, this match will be their Cup final.
It'll be their heart, passion, power, drive to win. Verses our skill and tactical superiority.
It pains me to say it, but most of our players don't play with passion anymore. They simply wear the kit, put in a professional performance, then go home happy, regardless of the scoreline.

In summary, we need to play our strongest side and attempt to win this from the 1st minute. If the score is 0-0 after 30 minutes, Hudderfield and their home support will believe they can win and with their passion, they may score a goal or two.

I'd still rather we protect our most important players for the CL. Our squad players aren't only here to come on as subs in the last 20mins. They should be up for it. If not, then summer is coming...

If we go out of the cup I can see us going into a right slump. Would you trust Darmian in this game. I bloody wouldn't. He is off in the summer and knows it. He couldn't care less.

Urgh, this lot again. Sick of seeing them and that cap-wearing Kloppelganger. Also didn't realise it was away at that spaceship of a ground that's had about 20 names since it was built.

Sanchez owes a few of their lumps a good kicking. Hope he delivers. A win would be good too.
