Don't know where is the right thread for this, but I think Rangnick should experiment with Pogba as left wing attacker, and move Sancho to the right now he's in form.

    Pogba-Ronaldo-Sancho
    Bruno
    Fred-Mctominay

May not look a new idea, but with Rangnick's system it may work. Pogba shows he puts in a shift under Rangnick. He would be able to press, and track back. Pogba just doesn't have the tactical awareness when playing as holding midfielder, to sense the danger if he is to mark a free man. Without Pogba, however we miss creativity because even Bruno can be erratic. Sancho prefers to play on the left, but he showed with Dortmund he can play on right to a high level too.

This line up gives us another option to push Bruno up as a pure attacker, while having a true midfield 3 of Pogba and McFred mid game.

It's worth a try than playing Rashford who is currently way way off form, while Elanga is very limited with possession.

Perhaps Leeds would be a good game to experiment?

Surely Leeds is an open enough game to play this, I hope we don't start both Fred and McTominay, definitely would prefer Maguire to be benched but not gonna happen obviously.

Smash them early so a few guys can be rested for Tuesday

We don't smash anyone anymore, they'll cause us issues and this will be a tense 2-1 either way.

It’s a game for transitions so Rashford will definitely play imo

Is this the first time we'll have played at a full Elland Road since that League Cup game in 11/12?

The 0-0 game last season was tepid, neither team looked bothered. I imagine the place will be rocking this time. Not at all confident, but then I also wasn't confident about Boro at home or bottom of the league Burnley away, so I probably never will be.
I'm fully expecting objects to be thrown at our players during corners & possible goal celebrations.

Neither team can defend, so maybe we'll finish some of our chances and smash them 9-7.

4-3 win, James to get a hat trick but play for the losing side. In all seriousness I hope we don't plan on pitting speedy Maguire against James or it could get ugly. Hopefully Varane is back and RR has the good sense to go with a Vicky/Rafa partnership.

James is shite. We could play Maguire on his own at the back and he'd still do feck all.

James had more G/A per minute than Martial last season but go on believing what you want. If we are talking about players being shite though I think Maguire is the poster child there and regardless of technique his inability to run faster than the typical OAP will be a problem against any player with pace such as James.

91 pages on their forum already for this match …….. 2 on here.
They’re all frothing at the mouth the magnificent bastards.
A great drinking game would be going through the thread and taking a shot everytime they use the word “scum”.

Weather's going to be absolute garbage for this... Will probably be a blood and thunder type affair with how their crowd will be up for it too.

    Cavani would be handy here

Sancho and Pogba could take a wing each and swap if it’s not working. I’m sure we used to interchange the wingers a bit more.

Wonder if this might be a game for Jesse. Good at pressing and good on the counter. You'd think it suits Rashford too but his form doesn't exactly merit a start right now.

It's one I would expect Liverpool, Chelsea or city to go there and win by at least 3 goals. Leeds have so much about them to exploit.

United lack that intelligence to exploit it. And actually I think Leeds will get the crowd behind them and win 2-0

I would start Cavani in hopes he scores and gets a bit of form going into CL. Even if they take him off at 65 minutes or so and bring on Ronaldo to give him a run out... (him scoring a goal would be icing on the cake)
Im a bit worried about our collection of yellow cards growing and the squad being kinda thin already with quality. I can see us missing crucial players in big matches because of yellow card accumulation.

I know i will probably get pelters, but the state we have been in recently I'd honestly not mind seeing Phil Jones partner Pogba and Bruno in the midfield 3. Fred and Scott are struggling.

Other than that i'd go with the obvious team:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------De Gea-----------------------------------------------------------
    Dalot------------------------------------Varane---------------------------Maguire--------------------------------Shaw
    ---------------------------------------------------------------Jones------------------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------Bruno--------------Pogba----------------------------------------------
    Elanga----------------------------------------------------Ronaldo----------------------------------Sancho

It won't happen but I think that's what I'd do. Second choice would be Mctom.

Would have loved Ronaldo to have been given some time off before the Athletico game but that doesn't seem to be an option now  Unless rashford starts in the middle and Sancho and Elanga start on the wings?

Telles must be at left back to stop Dan James, Shaw would be second best. I reckon Rangnick would hope for a two goal lead with 20 minutes to go and take Ronaldo off and possibly Bruno too ready for Madrid. Leeds will come out flying egged on by the scum crowd and we will have to withstand a good 20 minutes of high intensity attack. 2-0 reds.

Sod it... I really want to see Cavani creating havoc for their defence. Can't see us scoring many goals so we need to defend. oh wait...

I think its best all round that Maguire doesn't play.
    And 4 goals.....
