Congratulations on the cash win but I think you just got greedy :P Good luck though!
It was more superstitious than for the money. Hull gave them a run for their money in the end and if Cortuois hadn't made saves you never know! I didn't lose anything anyway It was Hillys money to begin with :wenger:

Wouldn't say you destroyed us psychologically, we showed plenty of fight in that second half. Agree, both Stevie's and Skrtels challenges were disgraceful, Stevie I'm not sure what was running through his head but he has form for these types of incidents as his careers shown, Skrtels was more borne out of frustration at how the game panned out I felt. Mata was indeed brilliant as I highlighted in my post earlier, but Carrick has a massive influence on your midfield, nuanced and understated, but keeps the entire machine ticking, if he can keep his form up next year we might have a midfield capable of competing technically at the Euros.

Van Gaal neutralised our pressing game extremely well and implemented one of his own, that Swansea game seems to be a blueprint for managers and honestly Rodgers should've forseen that and tweaked the formation tactically during the week, his naivety shone through there. Would like to see Lucas and Ibe straight back in with Sterling supporting Sturridge, that should help negate the goal-scoring issue.
The rot set in after little Stevie was shown the red card when you seemed to be fighting back. Balotteli threw a strop with only your fans saving him from himself, the penalty, and then Skirtel's action at the finish all point to who won the mind game. By the whistle your lot were finished and that's mostly why we won. Your team's attitude was wrong from the start and deteriorated even after you got a goal. The whole game was about mind games and today your lot were well and truly second.

You won because you perfectly executed a well thought out game plan, not because you played some mind trickery on our players. Yes we looked like schoolboys out there, and at times and I saw a real lack of leadership, however we fought well in that second half and i don't think we deteriorated as you say. Balotelli throwing a strop is what Balotelli does every game anyway, regardless of the opposition. Skrtels actions I've already said were disgraceful, and he'll rightly get a retrospective ban. I don't think the attitude was the problem, i think simply put Brendan Rodgers was tactically outclassed by Louis Van Gaal. We were naive in how we initially set out and utterly confounded by United's passing and pressing game, it wasn't until the tactical tweak was made in the 30th min that we gained any sort of foothold in the game. Which was then thrown away by our captain who may have cost us a point or more, but make no mistake we did keep fighting.

Sheer awesomeness.. Though we should have scored couple more easily.. Mignolet's dribbles were there for the taking.. Rooney should have been much more confident going into the penalty.. In hindsight maybe Mata should have been allowed for the hatrick.. But then LvG would be furious if you dont go by the book.

Precisely my point, fighting not playing. Top flight footy is often like games of chess. Our game plan got under the skin of your players, and the incidents only highlight that fact. At this level it's not just the physical but the psychological. That's why LVG has been banging on about discipline. Even bringing on ADM and Falcao was part of that mind game - two out of form players in a crunch game, what does that say about his opinion of the Scousers? Don't get me wrong I like your comments, but in this 'Mata' you really ought to look outside the box.

Your players got nervous when they saw things arent going their way and they acted like schoolboys.
Yup we didnt play some mind trickery on your players but were much more psychologically cooler and more composed.

Some stand out performances yesterday. Mata was brilliant obviously the goals and think I saw 92% pass success rate, but his overall play was brilliant he dominated the first half great to see. Him and Valencia down that side with Herrera also worked perfectly, Liverpool couldnt deal with the accuracy of the passing. All 3 of them had great games.

I also thought Carrick did his job as per. And Smalling I thought was phenomenal really really good. Like the way he's trying to step out of defence got a bit to learn there but actually defensively yesterday he was brilliant.

Dont know whats happened to Di Maria he was awful, didnt look up for it, lost the ball so many times assume he had a less than 50% pass success rate. Really wasteful and looked lazy. Yeah he got the assist but generally looked awful. Shame, Im sure this is just a blip but Ive never seen him look so bad.

Interesting stats on distances covered yesteday

    Liverpool 106.5km
    Joe Allen 12.2
    Jordan Henderson 11.4
    Philippe Coutinho 11.4

    Manchester United 111.7km
    Marouane Fellaini 11.6
    Juan Mata 11.6
    Michael Carrick 11.4

Mentioned it in the Henderson thread it always looks like he covers so many yards, but according to this from EA sports, same as Carrick.

Would have personally assumed/thought Valencia completed the most distance for utd.

We thoroughly thoroughly deserved the win yesterday, we were the better team. First 30 minutes was our best away football of the season, exactly the kind of dominance I'm looking for. We got a bit nervous but still I felt we deserved it. I'll get the criticism out of the way first. I felt second half we were frustrating. Liverpool were there for the taking, and we got to casual and relaxed. Di Maria, again, very poor. Somebody said something interesting to me today, said he may be a one season wonder, as the year before 2013-2014 he was very poor. Might be the case. Mata was terrific. His best performance of the season. Even Jones and Smalling. Rooney very poor, he's done nothing on Merseyside for ten years, since that winner at the Kop in 2005. I'm not convinced about top four. Sure in two weeks the fixtures favour us with us playing Aston Villa who we usually win against and you going to Arsenal, but after that we have City (1 win in the last 7 derbies) and then Chelsea away (1 win in 12 visits to Jamford Bridge). Two losses and it's curtains for us. About time we beat City. People forget how good they were yesterday, 78% possession, 43 shots, 16 on target. We can't cope with that.
