    That's only 19.
How many more do you want for a home match? Levitt 19th man on standby in case one of the squad drop out.

Don't think we're gonna have 4 FBs in the squad. Probably Shaw/Williams miss out and Levitt is in the final 18, seeing as how light we are in midfield.

    Red Card for Casemiro!
We have spent so much money in the past few years and our squad is so unspeakably weak. How on earth does Woodward keep his job.
The lack of any real quality in that team hits me every week when I see the lineup. We're 11th after 13 games, with not a single outfield player in that squad who'd automatically start for a top CL club, after spending more than 800m since SAF left.

We used to keep winning titles while aiming for CL.
Then we went to finishing in top 4 while aiming for titles.
Then we became a top 6 club aiming to finish top 4 regularly.
Now we're struggling to make top 6.

Every week, I remind myself that Ed Woodward is responsible, and is not being held accountable.

Yeah usually it's 20, hopefully the last one is McTominay.

There's not a cat in hell's chance that Williams misses out after his recent performances, and there would be no point in putting Shaw in the squad then not selecting him in the 18

Oh god, I don't want to see Andreas anymore, he's giving a lot of balls away so they can counter brilliantly. I'd prefer to start Levitt who looked like he's capable of controlling midfield and link between lines in attack and midfield.

Won’t happen but I’d go with

    De Gea
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Williams
    Levitt
    Garner - Fred
    James - Martial - Rashford

Based on one no-pressure game against Astana?
I know what you mean, but the counter argument is that Andreas has had loads of games in which he has proved he is incapable of being that player. I genuinely believe that he is the worst player to have been a consistent midfield starter for us in the last 20 years, and that is saying something.

I agree that Pereira isn't and shouldn't be an answer for our midfield troubles and I'm all in favour of playing Garner/Levitt who may grow into a long-term solution for us. What I have an issue with is people who haven't really watched our kids play stating that Levitt can control midfields and be playmakers. He didn't have any pressure on him from the Astana midfield, and it was a low-stakes go-have-fun European debut.

We have no idea how Levitt will look playing against PL opposition in a must-win game with physicality and pressing and packed defences, having much lesser space to pass into when forwards will be man marked while being aware of a far higher price to pay for mistakes.

Yet some people kid themselves that letting Pogba go & bringing in someone that runs faster is the issue.

The whole midfield needs an overhaul; OgS doesn’t look to be going anywhere but if over the course of the next 2 windows we don’t see 3 new midfielders [given even more are bound to leave] then we really are destined for a long period of mediocrity.

How Andreas has carved out a career here I’ll never know.

Really not looking forward to that as a midfield 3. We need Pogba and McTominay back as soon as possible. Really hoping we get at least a new midfielder in January and 1 in the summer, Maybe 2 as I expect Pogba to go. Really hope the midfield situation gets sorted out soon.

Lowering of standards. Jose wanted him gone, if he'd stayed in the job (which I'm glad he didn't), Andreas would have been playing for a bottom-level La Liga team this season. Ole comes in and tells the fans Andreas is United quality, new contract, job's a good 'un.

Even with McTominay, we have one the worst midfield options in the league and I'm genuine about that claim. It's absolutely disgusting. If we replace Pogba with 2 x English lads like Longstaff and Rice or Maddison.....I just don't know what to say.

I'm actually wondering if we're gonna see an upset today. We literally don't have a midfield so we'll be hitting hopefuly long balls to the flanks for 90mins and if Villa can set up solely to defend those, we have no other options. 0-0 might not be a bad shout, you know.

I'd be shocked if Garner made his first league start after playing a match in a country bordering China on Thursday. It's a long trip crossing several time zones.

Don't let that stop you though obviously.......
Thanks for the mansplaining. Had no idea.

Actually have a weird feeling Villa will beat us tomorrow and can you imagine the amount of pressure going into the games against Spurs and City on Ole?

I really think we'll lose 3 out of the next 3 and If that happens then he has to go If we have any sort of ambition to get back to challenging again
No pressure at all i believe? If you don't back ole you're an idiot and are doing football support wrong. I don't care if we have no footballing identity, i don't care if we keep failing to beat teams. I don't care if we end the weekend in the bottom half. Support ole or be condemned as a footballing madman.

Going for a 3-0 here. Key players rested. No excuses today. With Spurs and City next, this run we've been threatening to have needs to start now.

I doubt that Ole gets into trouble for drawing with them. As long as we're not in the relegation zone things will be fine. When it is mathematically impossible to qualify for next season's CL, Ole might get the sack and a smaller compensation.

I'll be pleased to see Mata start, his movement against Belgrade at OT the other week was pretty key to how good we looked going forwards. Mata might not be a regular anymore but this may be the type of game for him

Our midfield is absolutely brutal and if that United Stand tweet has any truth to it then I just hope both Grealish & McGinn have quiet day.

    Starting XI

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Williams

    Pereira
    Fred

    James
    Mata
    Rashford

    Martial

    subs:
    Grant
    Tuanzebe
    Young
    Levitt
    Garner
    Lingard
    Greenwood

    Score Prediction:
    Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa

He's squad material at best and thats only because he should be on relatively small wages. He puts in the effort i'll give him that but thats his only decent trait. Not saying much for him really is it?

It's clear that one of our squads weaknesses is having to rely on Pereria and Lingard far, far too much.

    This exactly.

There’s a number of fans that seem to favour martyrdom over actually expecting progress during this rebuild.

I will say it again. There is absolutely no justification for us to become so bad to [hopefully] come good under OgS - we are showing no actual progress under the man & if we’re going to congratulate him for ridding the squad of dross we must also criticise him for the lack of incoming signings; otherwise [as I suspect] he’s just a yes man that has gone along with the signings/sales.

Supporting the team & being accepting of such low standards is actually a huge part of the reason the Glazers/Woodward/OgS are all so safe in the knowledge they can continue to flounder & be supported regardless.

Like you say. We’ll sell Pogba; buy a player nowhere near as good but they’ll be ‘young & British’ so fans will lap it up while results stagnate further.

We should not be this bad, end of story. No fan expected a title challenge & I certainly thought top4 was optimistic but OgS has been underwhelming to say the least.

Btw, I’m a match going fan [both corporate & general], I’ve given up a chance to go today along with multiple opportunities this season - if this makes me a ‘plastic’ so be it.

He didn't, he was rather unhappy when Pereira decided, against Jose's will, to sod off on loan again.

Its basic thing you need to realise is that Manchester United is first and foremost a business entity. A football club second.

As the head of a business entity, what's the first priority -- financial objectives. Clearly the Glazers feel that Woodward has met their financial objectives so far or Woodward would have been sacked.

And this is why he is still around despite seeing poor utilisation of financial resources. If we are to do bad both financially and on the pitch, then he will get sacked. But if financial objectives are being met, then I suspect he will have his job as long as he wants it.

I'm surprised you took Greenwood all the way to Astana on Thursday. He's looked decent in his sub games v Bournemouth and Sheffield United recently and now scored his first premier league goal so was expecting him to start today given we've conceded in the past to your youth strikers.

With both Arsenal and Spurs sacking their managers recently, the pressure on Ole to produce results increase by the minute. The last thing we needed right now was to lose our most consistent midfielder, Mctominay, on top of losing Pogba to a long-term injury. I hope the board considers that should things go south this afternoon. I'm sure they will, rational thinkers that they are :)

This is the team I would go with this afternoon:

    DDG

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Williams

    Fred Periera

    Rashford Mata James

    Martial
    4-0 United.

If OgS wanted players & they weren’t signed blame big bad Woodward but when players fans don’t like leave give OgS the praise? If Sanchez & Lukaku are his doing then surely he holds some responsibility for the lack of incoming transfers.

Woodward is inept but he’s either in charge of transfers or not - in & out.

The likelihood is OgS wanted players that weren’t interested; Sancho keeps being mentioned. I’d like Ronaldo back but he’s not interested, do you stop looking or go for other targets?

The squad is horrendous, players moved in the summer that would be immediate starters for us - OgS in his wisdom chose to narrow his targets down so far that we’re in the mess we are in.

I have seen no one on the forum state OgS ‘didn’t want signings‘, people have questioned why he chose to ignore the players he did.

What a nonsensical attempt at sarcasm.
