Rashford made a few wrong decisions there, but he's also the only player we have at the moment who can fulfill that over the top threat role. And it's big for us when we're winning.

awful spell. It’s been a while.
No question, but he still put up 28G and 16A in 64(4) the 2 years before this one, so he was still productive while struggling last year. He's really only been "awful" this season. Either way, he, Greenwood and Sancho is a good level of competition out wide if we start taking to Rangnick. If he gets beat out by those 2, we're in good shape.

Happy to go into the break in the lead, fantastic ball in by Fred for Scott’s goal. The performance is still a little shaky, we look very vulnerable from set pieces and we have been sloppy on the ball as well which has given Villa some great break always. Tidy up our game and we look threatening enough to put the game away.

Still got a problem where most teams we play against are much more well drilled than us. Still like a bunch of strangers at the park bar a few decent moments.

Our team has talented footballers who are prone to making terrible decisions. Bruno, Greenwood and Rashford have all done some good things on the pitch tonight, yet at the crucial moment they lose their heads and shoot when they should be passing
We.still play as individuals. Not a team.

Tuned in just a couple of mins ago and saw some really good play. Rashford's pace gives us lots of options, and he played a great ball to Cavani for the Bruno shot as well.

Not too upset with him for that last one.
Well, you're clearly not enough of a deranged, raging lunatic to post here.

Incredible how bad Rashford has been. Genuinely impressively bad for someone of his capability. I feel like it's harder to be as bad as he's been than it is to be decent.

How can Mctomminay play like this and then around two levels below the next game? If he maintained this he'd be a beast.
He's always going to be like this.

Bar the goal, I still think villa are cutting through our midfield.

4 out of his last 5 games he has been one of our best players, the other one he was terrible.

Still can’t believe Rashford didn’t pass earlier to Greenwood, fecking hell. Shocking, shocking play.

Overall, no fluidity in our attacks.
It’s all make up it as you go and players wondering about all over the place.

    Poor old Eddie.
I know Cavani is well short of sharpness or match practice, but he looks like he’s been woken up from a deep sleep at 3am in the morning and asked to run around a bit.

Ralf has got to strengthen our midfield in the 2nd half, or Villa will get lucky next time.

As bad as we were defensively I think we have created a few good chances without Ronaldo in the side.

Get Rashford off. Should never have started anyway and just proved yet again its all about him. Selfish
He's a good player in bad form and while he was frustrating at times, he's playing better tonight than the previous few games. Besides you're complaining that he's starting in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

No but it's a definite improvement. If we keep up a steady improvement we'll be alright.
Yea we stringed some passes together at times... I guess that's an improvement. The standards have been lowered beyond belief but I get your point.

Much better than recent displays so I'm happy enough, you can still see the lack of confidence and form in most of the team so it's no surprise Villa have had their moments but if we build on this type of performance and iron out the mistakes then we should start to head in the right direction. Still a long way to go of course.

Biggest half-time change is to get a mug of Horlicks inside Dion Dublin to take the edge off the 20 Red Bulls it sounds like he's downed before the match.

When Rash starts running down the wing, you just know he won't stop until he goes too far wide
Again we're giving the ball away and leaving acres of space in midfield

We get outplayed because of CM cannot keep the ball. Also the CB’s don’t pass it to Mcfred too
Yes. I also think both Fred and McTominay are poor in defensive positioning and awareness when defending. I suspect their work rate gets confused with ability to defend properly.

That Rashford pass on for Greenwood at the end is much harder than it looks on TV. He basically would have needed to release it exactly at the right time with good weight.

Yeah there's definitely more desire on display tonight.

It's not been great but it's been an improvement. Concerned about our defensive shape. Fred and McT have been good in parts today but they are pushing up and leaving gaps between themselves and the defence which Villa exploited a few times. Think our def line should be higher. to help compress the space a little bit. Dalot and Shaw have been decent going forward. Bruno has been good when he's been on the ball. Formationis a bit all over the place. Think it's supposed to be 4-2-2-2 with Bruno up front but Bruno is drifting (understandably, staying up their would be a complete waste imo). Rashford and Greenwood haven't been good. Yet again those 2 wider positions are really struggling to make the difference. Rashford is getting involved a lot tbf but his quality on the ball has just been rubbish. Pressing hasn't been very organised but there has been some more effort at least. We definitely need to score again. Can't imagine Villa not scoring unless Rangnick gives Fred and McT different instructions.
