We concede a goal less on average with Varane and Maguire than with any other centre-back duo, but I want Maguire benched anyway because I'm a complete moron.

Assuming that mctom and bruno will be out due to covid I wouldn't be surprised to see the same line up as Saturday.

There will be question marks over matic and weather or not he will be able to start two games so close together. Might see Lindelof in the dm posistion, or possibly drop into a back 5 if matic can't start. Maybe elanga over rashford aswell, we will see.

I'm hopeful we can get the win but it won't be easy a tight a nervy 2-1 win.

Hope OT is rocking and act like a 12th man because we need it. Could easily be the last champions league game at old Trafford for a few seasons too.

Could very likely see a back 3 if McTominay is still out. Unsure if Matic can do another game 3 days later after putting 80 mins against Spurs. If so...

    De Gea
    Lindelof - Varane - Maguire
    Dalot -- Fred -- Pogba -- Telles
    Fernandes* - Sancho
    Ronaldo

Something like that? Assuming Fernandes has recovered too. Maybe even Cavani and Ronaldo up-top with Sancho in behind.

We should have enough to beat them, looking forward to this and OT under the lights.

My only concern is that if we concede first they will park the bus and it will be tough to score, or if we score first and invite pressure. We need to go out there to score 2 or 3.

edit: They did look a lot fitter than us in the first leg.

Have a lot of hope that Fred will carry on from Saturday and have a great game. He didn't really turn up for the 1st leg, if he does tomorrow we should be fine.

I think we should start the same team as this weekend (Unless Mctom is available for Matic).

Christ, how good would it be to win this. We're not getting top 4 in league so a bit of a run here would be great. There's loads of teams to fear but we could end up on the side of a draw with Ajax, Juventus, Madrid for example. All capable of beating us but less hopeless than other side. A win and a kinder draw would be amazing

Pretty annoying we’re having to play this on Tuesday given the time we have until the next match, but I understand UEFA don’t give a shit about that.

Took a look at Atletico's travelling squad and am now expecting a loss at OT. May I be utterly mistaken.

Hate this fixture as I am triggered by people calling them Athletico. Their name is on the banner and there's an entire wiki article about them in the OP. Can you just...

A very late winner will do.

This team but id be tempted to play matic instead of mctominay. We’re expected to have most of the ball so having matic sitting and who can pass much better may be useful.

    We all love United
I just hope we get a competent referee because those cnuts are going to be diving and shithousery all over the pitch. Minus the theatrics, we can certainly beat them in a one off game at home

Not saying I disagree but there are different factors that you haven’t taken into account with your equation.

    - Games Maguire hasn’t played are most probably not so important games for us and therefor a worst team is selected by the manager with more chance of loosing
    - Maguire plays nearly every game and therefor any other partnership will have no bond or understanding developed

This is a good point. We have been prone to refereeing shockers in the CL at Old Trafford, at not point do we want to be giving the referee a decision to make. A red card would be disastrous.

Cue us cruising past Atletico and getting double dicked by Liverpool or City in the quarters.

Two tough games in 4 days would be a worry with Matic though. Hopefully McTominay can up his game after some rest. If he had any Flu symptoms with his covid though I'd doubt he'll be 100% for this either.

McTominay did not have covid recently. He had a calf injury.

I would start Elanga for sure just to avoid the young player taking a penalty shoutout.

Kondogbia being out would be a huge plus for us. He had Pogba in his pocket in the away leg.
EDIT: sounds like he's in the travelling squad.

    Bring it on.

We want to be in the Champions League every season and its for nights like this.

I'll be disappointed if United go out. I appreciate Atletico's strength but we drew with them when we played like shit. So up the game a bit and beat them this time.

Just fancy them to do a nasty number on us. 1-2 scrappy winner from a corner.

We need to show some fight and grit for once, get in their faces and make them realise they're away. Too often these days is Old Trafford a nice day out for the opposition.

Shaw, Bruno and McTominay trained today.
Not sure I'd change the team from Saturday if It could be helped.

Having matic allows Fred to excel and pogba should be asked to make it more of 3 in MF to help out there and keep the ball a bit more.

An aggregate score there could be embarrassing. Maybe it's too optimistic to think fred, sancho and Ronaldo could hit form at the right time

Whether in regular time or penalties I just don't see us going through unless Ronaldo pulls one out of his arse

If Maguire plays, which I'm sure he will, he will do something that leads to us losing.

I think only 1 of pogba or Bruno will play. Both will be far to risky. I’d play matic as we’re expected to have more possession and his passing will be helpful.
