Association Football Club Bournemouth (nicknamed The Cherries and Boscombe) is a professional football club based in Bournemouth, Dorset. The exact date of the club's foundation is not known, but there is proof that it was formed as Bascombe FC in the autumn of 1899 out of the remains of the older Boscombe St. John's Lads’ Institute FC. Nicknamed The Cherries (Dean Court was built adjacent to the Cooper-Dean estate, which encompassed numerous cherry orchards), the team traditionally played in red shirts with white sleeves until 1971, when the strip was changed to red and black stripes, similar to that of AC Milan. The club was renamed in 1923 to Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic F.C. in 1923, which was the name until 1972, when it becomes A.F.C. Bournemouth.

Bournemouth have won the second and third tiers of English football, and were twice runners-up of the fourth tier. They have also won the Football League Trophy, and the Football League Third Division South Cup. Bournemouth have spent the majority of their history bouncing between the third and fourth tier of English football. Under manager Eddie Howe, they have risen through the pyramid; the 2015–16 season was Bournemouth's first ever in England's top division. Bournemouth's biggest rivals are Brighton & Hove Albion, Reading FC and Southampton FC. They play their home games at Dean Court, Bournemouth — currently known as the Vitality Stadium.

    Are the AFCON players available?

If they are it’d be same starting 11 as Wolves bar Martinez in for Heaven for me.

    If not;

    Lammens
    Yoro - Martinez - Heaven
    Dalot - Mainoo - Casemiro - Shaw
    Bruno - Cunha - Mount

Yes, the last match they play before heading off for AFCON.

They've trounced us 3-0 at OT for the past 2 seasons. I know they're in poor form right now, but given then we're shite at home this aint going to be easy. I'd settle for a 1-0 now.

If we can win this + that win at Palace then that would make it up to some extent for taking just 1 point out of 6 vs Everton and West Ham at home.

    It wouldn’t really.

We should be beating Bournemouth, who are in poor form and haven’t won a game since October.

Need to win this one, They’re not in great form and we can push on with a win here. 2 tough games after this one so definitely need the 3 points. Will be tighter than tonight’s game but we can win this.

They’re another perennial bogey team who we think we should always beat but rarely ever do.

But this time we meet them in poor form so we might finally do them but only if we’re not in zombie mode again.

    That’s good news they’re available.

Actually, Amorim said in the presser that they are talking with all the federations and they might try to hold onto them for the away match at Villa presumably.

Really hope De Ligt is back for this one. Not quite sure I'd trust Heaven at CCB just yet against a team that offer more attacking threat than the likes of Wolves and West Ham.

They're in poor form so we really should be winning this. Unfortunately our home form has turned from very solid to dissapointing in the last two fixtures. Need a goal and lots of attacking intent early to get the crowd into it. Can't let Iraola press us into our own half and become a bundle of nerves.

Bournemouths form is abject. Winless since October.

Got to get 3 points here.

To some extent it would imo.
    It wouldn’t.

We shouldn’t have dropped points vs 18th place West Ham or 10 men Everton at home. Victory against Bournemouth isn’t going to change that. It would need another decent winning streak for everyone to forget about those two results.

    "To some extent" "imo"

United are inconsistent, so making any predictions is impossible.

But we all know this! so you have to enjoy the Wins and don't get too pissed off when they drop points.

Another Monday game is annoying, but tonight went well, so let's hope they can repeat it next week.

I'd love De Ligt to be back, but Amorim loves shuffling the back 3 no matter what, so again, just grow to enjoy the pointless subs.

Amad and Mbeumo to grab a goal each as a going-away present?

Have lost to this average Bournemouth side 3-0 in the last two Old Trafford meetings what's in store this time?

Coming into the game Bournemouths away league form this season.

I don't see how that's possible - we play Villa on 21st which is the day the AFCON games start?

City will beat Palace, and Everton might take something off Chelsea, so if we win this very winnable match we could end up 4th after this.

Too much is being made of Bournemouth’s current poor run in the PL.
They were heavily defeated by Villa and City, but all there other games have been tight, either drawing or losing by just 1 goal.
They won’t be pushovers and we could see a repeat of the West Ham game, i.e. switching off and getting punished.

We have to win, with more difficult games coming up and the 3 players jetting off to AFCON.

Morocco play on that opening day, so presumably Mazraoui is gone, but Amad and Mbeumo aren't playing until three days later, which wouldn't be too crazy.

We have a horrible recent record against them. Might allow us to play on the counter and more direct though which will suit us more. But if we don't have Amad and Mbeumo, will be tough

Potentially Mbeumo and Amads last game before AFCON

City beating palace isn’t guaranteed. Palace have been taking wins against city and Liverpool recently. Also have you not been watching any of our games this season, Amorim will never line up in a 4-2-3-1

Another must win game to secure 3 points before we loose 3 off our best players.

    Another monday game....
It's ass. Third Monday night game in the last five.

Anyway, assuming we have De Ligt back for this, I think the team pretty much picks itself:

    Lammens
Mazraoui - De Ligt - Shaw
    Amad - Casemiro - Bruno - Dalot
    Mbeumo - Mount
    Cunha
Beyond fitness issues, I really can't see how it wouldn't be this line-up. I think it's still too early for Martinez to start. If De Ligt is still out, I'd probably go Heaven over Yoro, as he seems stronger in the air.

Sounds like we keep Mbeumo for this game too right

Starting to look like we really struggle with these home Monday fixtures. Need to get that monkey off our back.

We owe Bournemouth a spanking too - they've won 3-0 at ours the last two seasons.

It is a good time to regain some measure of respect.
