Brighton & Hove Albion (nicknamed The Seagulls and Albion) are a professional football club based in Brighton & Hove. The club was first formed as Brighton & Hove United on 24 June 1901, and the name was quickly changed to Brighton & Hove Albion. The club took the place of a defunct club, Brighton & Hove Rover, in the Southern League In the Southern League they won their only national honour to date, the FA Charity Shield, by defeating Football League Champions Aston Villa in 1910. There had previously been Old Brightonians, representing the area in the FA Cup in the 19th Century. The club initially played at the Hove County Ground, with a few games were also at Goldstone Ground that was used by Hove F.C. From 1902 onwards, Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and Hove F.C. shared the Gladstone Ground. In 1920, 19 years after the club was formed, they were elected to the Football League's new Third Division.

Mismanagement brought Brighton close to relegation from the Football League to the Conference which they narrowly avoided in 1997 and 1998. A boardroom takeover saved Brighton from liquidation, and following successive promotions they returned to the second tier of English football in 2002, from then on playing in the second and third tiers of English football until the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, where the club earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, marking the end of a 34-year absence from the top flight. Bighton's fans consider Crystal Palace to be their biggest rival with matches between them termed the M23 derby, and they play their home games at Falmer Stadium.

It will be most interesting to see how we fare. I think it will be a draw.

Anything about Sancho after his little bout of feeling unwell for the last preseason match? I’m assuming he’s fine and in training now but I haven’t seen anything to confirm the same

Tough game. Would be happy with any win. Cucurella will no doubt have a stormer.
Huh? Isn't he already on his way to Chelsea? I'm pretty sure he won't be in their team for the match.

Finally. Important to get the football under way and put the transfer window and the other bull shit on the back burner. Given last weekends lineups, I'm guessing Shaw won't play (if he's still ill?), I'm hoping Sancho will be ready but he's probably same boat as Shaw, but without having an able deputy, guessing Martinez and Eriksen will be subs. Only question mark is Donny or McTominay IMO.

    De Gea
    Dalot Maguire Lindelof Malacia
    Fred
    Donny Bruno
    Sancho Martial Rashford
    4-0 United :D

I think the Lineup Prediction needs work. Don't we have 5-subs from this season?

Why am I not surprised to see us starting the season with the weakest window relative to our rivals considering what we need versus what they need

    Absolutely patehtic by the club.

 I think Chelsea will manage to get this one over the line. It'll be hilarious if Barca hijacked this one too even if they don't need him just because he's their academy graduate.

Looking at the options in the lineup game is depressing. Zero depth and just devoid of the required amount of quality. We've had a shocking window.

Absolute shite squad. Cannot believe the same old stinky midfield as we start another season. This inept club will be the death of me. 2-0 United.

Yeah we should be able to pick 5 subs?

Imagine the scenes when it takes Chelsea 2 weeks to sign de Jong.

    Team should be...

    -------------------De Gea-------------------
    Dalot---Maguire---Lindelof---Shaw
    ----McTominay----Fred---
    Sancho-----Fernandes-----Rashford
    -------------------Martial-------------------

Subs: Heaton, Varane, Martinez, Malacia, Eriksen, Garner, Iqbal, Elanga, Garnacho

Bench is embarrassing, hopefully the starting XI have enough to get a win

    About time.

To be honest I expect a rough start but I think it should be good enough for us to pull through although a loss won't surprise me.

For the starting line up assuming everyone is fit i think he'll go with:

    David
    Dalot varane Harry Shaw
    Mcfred
    Bruno
    Sanch martial Rashford

    Man Utd:
Yup almost went with the same lineup except for Malacia in for Shaw, not sure if Shaw is fit to play this game. How predictable though. Not a single new player in the starting lineup for our first game of the new season.

I can't bring myself to predict a line up. I hope we win, i hope ten hag has them flying, but we have massively underinvested, its just staggering.

Not really...they are new signings so don't always just slot straight in on day1. Martinez, Eriksen and Malacia are going to play a lot of game this season if they stay fit.

Fans need to start thinking about the long term not the short term. This is the start of a long road back.
