Quite conveniently ignored the other reason that utd needed a meltdown from rivals to finish above them.
The same can be argued about our rivals that they finished above us and are finishing above us due to our meltdown post fergie. Doesn’t mean that their achievements are diminished in any form. In the same way neither should ours be dismissed due to our rivals having a bad season.

Not really. We finished 5 points ahead of Liverpool where they were horrendous and us supposedly having a 'great' season. We were 11 points behind Arsenal last season.

It’s fecking game day and I’m pumped and thoroughly anxious!

I am well aware this season is not going to be easy and even top 4 is going to be a struggle, watching MOTD last night it’s plain to see that other teams have had excellent preseasons but the highly competitive nature of the PL is going to once again be a source of great entertainment (and pain), but I am excited to see what we can do and how EtH can transform our dysfunctional club into a title challenger once again.

Here’s to hoping that the perennial frustration of being a United fan in recent years can at the very least be broken up by signs of progress as the manager inculcates his brand of football on the squad. Come the feck on United. It’s been long enough.

No matter how out of form Ronaldo may be, I bet you Eriksen will set him up for at least one or two big chances. I think that is gonna do it for us today.

How have Brighton fared in preseason?

Please let Garnacho be on the bench at least and reward him, Elanga has shown far less during ETHs short time here, really hoping Mctominay doesnt start, Maguire and Fred were Ok in pre season so I cant fault them but Rashford wasn't great either, would love to see him really reward the hard work and set a tone that reputation means nothing

Big day today reds!! Let’s put 4 past them and jump straight to the top of the table! Need a win here no matter what After Liverpool dropping points and I Also feel like West Ham can get something against city. No excuses for anything but a win here. 4-0 UTD!!

I think DVB will play as a false 9 and the rest of the XI will be similar to how he started against Athletico in Oslo.

Excited for today's game. Hoping we see a new level of commitment from our players. Cant take another season of our players not following manager's instructions!

:) I like it. At the start of every season, believe that we are title contenders :) Hope this season we are.

Brighton are not a fun team to play against. They can often tease the slightly bigger teams. I think they can expose some of our weaknesses in the physical game and I'm not sure we will win today.
I hope that Ronaldo is neither in the starting line-up nor on the bench. He has only been available for one game in the preseason and only got 45 minutes. In addition, he has shown that he would like to play for a team other than us. In my eyes, Ten Hag will make his first big visible mistake if Ronaldo is in the squad today. I think Ronaldo should never play for us again.

More chance of me starting as a false 9 than Donny.

    Would like :
    ———————DDG——————
    Dalot—Harry—Varane—Shaw
    ————Fred—Eriksen————-
    Sancho—--Bruno—-Garnacho
    ——————Rashford—————

Just got a feeling Shaw will work very well with someone with Nacho in their name joking, i really like Shaw

Fingers crossed we start with a good display. A win would be a really nice way to start the new era and give the lads some confidence. Hopefully Ronaldo is benched until he realises that he isn't the most important guy at the club.

Brighton are a good team but we should still have enough to beat them. Excited!

I’m actually looking forward to this game on the basis that yes we haven’t had much recruitment in the transfer window but from what I have seen so of the Gaffer is he is instilling a his own ideas and methods with this team and if most of the team is the same as last then we should be able to compare the progress made.

on paper we have a decent team and we should be doing better and under achieved due to Ole and Ralf. I feel the same team under EHT will do much much better.
    Come on United!!

    Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
I’m nervous but hopeful of a performance full of intensity and high pressing. Win, lose or draw I think it’ll be much better to watch than last year. ETH was out inspecting the pitch at 9.40am according to sky…I bet the grounds staff are feeling nervous now too

    Gone for 1-0 to UTD.

Kind of got this one down as a cagey encounter as the UTD players from last season not wanting to start the season with a loss after the way last season went & ETH also obviously not looking to get off to an opening day defeat & hope to slowly build players confidence & quality performances over the next few weeks providing we don't lose to Liverpool of course in MD3 I think it is.
