I reckon it will be Sancho and Elanga out wide with Rashford as striker. Bruno and McFred behind them.

ETH is probably checking on the grass if it's perfect at the metres he wants i mean the levels he deems ideal.
Anyone got an idea of the metres that was thought of?

Quite conveniently ignored the other reason that utd needed a meltdown from rivals to finish above them.

2 good seasons? A season where we were lingering around 5th-6th up until the final matchday when we beat Leicester 2-0 to finish 3rd?
Are you a child? Your comprehension in this post would seem to suggest that. How the feck do you think we went from ‘5th/6th to 3rd on the final day?’ Did the teams above us get docked points? Did we get 15 points for beating Leicester? Clearly, the teams that were 3rd and 4th were also ‘lingering’ around 5th and 6th right up until the final day and had not been better than us.

If we can manage to finish 3rd once all the games are done, we were the 3rd best team over the course of the season. The teams that were better than us in November and December could not possibly have been better than us all the way up until May, otherwise they would not have finished below us. While they were busy being NOT better than us, we were obviously the better team, and according to the table - we were better for longer than they were. I’m sorry, but it is idiotic to claim that we were some how 5th/6th best over the course of the season - yet somehow managed to finish 3rd. It’s literally impossible.

Really chuffed for the start of the season. If we show enough determination and I am not expecting anything else from us for the opener at OT under ETH then we get a win.

Let's see who starts up top, hopefully not Ronaldo, would rather Hannibal or whoever more fit than him tbh. Our team play will get us goals, not an individual player.

If Ronaldo starts and scores there's going to be some very conflicted cry babies in here.

It’s not worth it. Folk are loving creating narratives whereby positive seasons didn’t count but negative ones do. Root maths at its finest.

Brighton have lost Cucu and Bissouma and I can’t recall anyone of note coming in. I think they have the same problems of not having a reliable goalscorer. I think we’ll beat them today, quite comfortably too. If they were as good as everyone makes out, they would be seen as top 4 contenders. As it is, they are not seen as top 6 contenders, and top 8 would even be a fantastic achievement for them. When it’s all said and done, there is a reason for that. We should expect to be beating them, and we will be well up for it today.

Not really. We finished 5 points ahead of Liverpool where they were horrendous and us supposedly having a 'great' season. We were 11 points behind Arsenal last season.
Be that as it may the same logic or lack of applies here as well. If us finishing 2nd and 3rd is due to our opponents imploding then them finishing above us all these years also needs to be down to us imploding.

Now i am not for a moment suggesting that is true. But you can’t have different yardsticks for different teams just because you want to knock the manager down.

My main hope is that we don't 'relapse' and instinctively go back to the way we played last season with no drive or energy, not being able to put a good 90 minutes together, all over the place at the back etc

I think when you're in a rut for so long its so easy to revert back to your old ways. Ten Hag hasn't been here long enough to bed anything in in any real sense, so that's the main worry today for me.

    I’m excited as feck lads!

Down in Margate for the weekend at a soul festival so will be down the pub for this one, but I’ve got my throwback black ‘karate kick’ shirt on, a nice cold IPA for breakfast, and a couple more lined up after!

I expect to see a good performance that will give us a truer idea of where we are and what we need to work on. I’d expect to see us looking dominant with possession, pressing high up the pitch, and hopefully creating plenty of chances although less confident about the last one of those.

I still think we will beat them 3-1 or there abouts, let’s see. Either way, football is back and I’m fecking buzzing!

    Come on United!

Despite the shite transfer window, still buzzing to see what Ten Hag can do for us today. Of course we'll need patience but hell..first day of the season, may as well dream big!

Us and City had a slow start due to only having a week between seasons and we massively eased our foot off the gas when we had second in the bag.
I’ll keep saying it, City and Utd dominated that league more than the league shows. Everybody got a head start on us and we still took a month off at the end

Since when did reddy become a United reporter. Thought she was a Liverpool fan.
She became Sky Sports' main reporter this summer and since then she has largely been covering United. I think she might be a Liverpool fan, but she certainly used to report on them primarily.

The difference is that we now have a manager and assistants who will be right on their back if they do not keep up the tempo. ETH will be prowling that touchline.

It happens. Most of the journos who cover United might not be United fans.

This would for sure be my preference, I have a feeling he will go with McFred. I also wouldn’t be against seeing Garnacho over Rashford even if he technically isn’t ready.

I really hope if we get a 2 goal lead then we see Zidane and Garnacho around the 60/70 minute mark.

Should be optimistic and counting the minutes until the match gets underway; however, I’m worried we’re going to see an opening fifteen in which we fizz and look threatening, before reverting back to Zombieball. I know we have some new faces - and I’m keen to see them - but so many of these players have let us down time and time again. I hope I’m wrong, mind you.
