some of these probable lineups are just damn depressing. The fact we didnt get people in early enough to be starting with probably anyone new is just sad. Seeing a Mcfred partnership to start yet again will also be soul crushing.

Ronaldo is 100% starting with Martial out.

    de Gea
    Dalot - Maguire - Martinez - Malacia
    Fred
    Bruno - Eriksen
    Sancho - Ronaldo - Rashford

I don't think we are starting ANY players that have had less than at least one 75+ minute run out

    De Gea

    Dalot
    Maguire
    Lindelof
Malacia (Shaw was out ill, regardless of if he's back, Malacia will have been at all training sessions)

    Fred
    McTominay
    Bruno

    Sancho
    Martial
    Rashford

Never been so confident. He will integrate the new players slowly. Eriksen and Ronaldo will come off the bench.

Cba to check for this answer but I'm sure it's been posted...

With the (re)introduction of 5 subs, how many subs will be permitted on the bench? I hope it's 9 or even 11 so a few more of the young lads/squad players can potentially be involved.

Edit: it's 9, so potentially: Heaton, AWB, Shaw/Telles, 1 non starting CB, Iqbal/Garner, VDB, Elanga, Ronaldo, Garnacho/Diallo.

He gone. And I'm having a hard time seeing Malacia start ahead of Shaw.

Rashford played well in pre season what are you on about
But can he do it in the league? Was awful last season. Deserves a chance this year yes but we shouldn’t keep playing him if he’s awful again when we’ve got young players that deserve a chance.

He was awful along with the whole team being awful for a variety of reasons. He was good to excellent for a couple of years before that. Last year wasn't his normal level, wasn't anybody's normal level.

How absolutely pathetic our club is that we going into a new season where losing a player like martial to injury is seen as big blow. We are not getting top 4 as you don't see even arsenal in such a pathetic position as our current squad situation.

Whoever is responsible for this situation needs booting out of the club whether it be the glazers, Arnold, ten hag etc..
Can’t see how ten Hag could be responsible to be honest  , the people at the top are a joke and aren’t getting us the squad depth we so desperately need to challenge for the top trophies.

Imagine if you said at the end of last season that Martial being injured would be a big issue, the amount of tags you would recieve oh boy

I really dont want to see Elanga and McT starting
There's a few things you could do to help with this.

    1. Drink heavily before, during, and after the game.
    2. Wear a blindfold.
    3. Squint. If you squint hard enough, McT looks a little like Frenkie. Elanga, I can't really help you with.

I think we'll win this 2-0, but it isn't going to be a classic. Not sure where the goals are coming from, mind you.

Excited for the first match. But at the same time I have a feeling that ETH is in for a rude awakening.

Really hope the answer to no Martial isn't just being Elanga in and put Rashford through the middle

I'd rather see something like Bruno as a false 9 and bring Eriksen into the starting XI

There's still time and I believe we'll add at least one attacking player to our squad. Not sure it will be enough, though.
We will add 1 or 2 more players just a shame that it will be at the end of the window. We are not ready for the new season.

We have a worldie has been. A future worldie (Garnacho) and a coach who's lost all his hair overthinking the game.

    What's not to like?

Just make a front three of Garnacho, Rashford, and Sancho, they are the ones who deserve it the most, Ronaldo has made his bed and so deserves to be made to squirm on the bench for this one, Elanga and Amad as backup.

I was looking forward to going to watch this one in early July. Now on the eve of the new Premier League season, I don't think I've ever been so detached from United as I am now. Hopefully watching Ten Hagball in the flesh can rekindle the flame but I just can't see how we can be successful with this club being run the way it currently is.

I wouldn't start Ronaldo for obvious reasons.

Not sure if ten Hag will do it, but I'd go with:

    Rashford Bruno Sancho
    Eriksen McTominay
    Fred
    Shaw Martinez Maguire Dalot
    De Gea

    Ronaldo, Van de Beek, Malacia

Not sure why you are so confident, its going to take time for ETH to really make changes to our play really stick. I think we will see 2 steps forward and 1 step back for a while.

The problem is how too many view individual games as the steps rather than the general direction of all games. Losing is always a (massive) step back, and winning is always a (or maybe not) step forward. That said, I really don't think we needed all that much to make a real jump in results. And in the end, results are all that matter.

    Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia
    Eriksen Fred
    Sancho Fernandes Rashford
    Elanga

What Elanga brings is runs in behind and pressing that a half fit Ronaldo never could now.

The rest pick themselves for now. I want to see Ten Hag be ruthless with some players and not start some who were shit last season like Maguire and Shaw when we now have replacements.

The same goes for Fred if we sign De Jong, Rashford if we sign Antony etc.

Has to be in with the new or there was no point in adding them to a shit squad.

The fact we are going into this game against a bottom half team we shipped 4 goals against last year with a *worse* team and thinner squad tells you all you need to know about the club's ambition.

We'll lose this handily and crush our confidence in the first week of the season. Players won't want to come and clubs will sense our desperation in the market. Brighton will be full of confidence having tanked us already.

Tranfers shoud have been done weeks ago ffs, we are still 2 x MFs 2 x FWDs and a RB short.

The worrying thing is this could be another van gaal/Leicester City situation of ten hag getting spanked by Brighton and quickly abandoning his philosophy for a more Conservative approach and sticking with double pivot of fred and mctominay for a months on end

Remember dithering dave, it's hard to tell ten hag's ability with transfers because he had a great set up at ajax that basically did all the work for him, so far he has played it safe it which a little similar to moyes who was eyeing up baines and fellaini in first summer along premiership proven fabregas that he had watched up close for years and was afraid to gamble on thiago.

Not optimistic now. We don’t have a forward who can hold the ball up under pressure with Martial out, and Potter will press us.

We look absolutely nowhere near ready for the big kick off.

It's still to be proven that we've actually confirmed any position.
    Ronaldo is semi fit.
Martial injured leaves us very light up front.
Martinez and Eriksen can't be ready to start.

    Obvious 2-0 win:drool:
