Brighton played us off the park for 10 -15 minutes. Running through us at will.
Our front players pressing well and forced ourselves back into the game.
Great to see cunha up and running with a superb bending shot.
Lamens looks so safe, that welbeck shot would be in with onana in net
Or Bayandir for that matter. And one of them flaps on the cross he calmly collected between 6 players!

Brighton were all over us the first 20 minutes or so and was fearing the worst as it seemed all too familiar these past few seasons. Thankfully our summer signings at the front have clicked and Cunha deservedly opened his account for us.

Still think we need a third before I can really calm down. Brighton have enough quality in attack to hurt us if we get too complacent - they scored 3 in their last 30 minutes against Chelsea.

VAR states on the Diallo situation: "De Cuyper plays the ball". What, are they blind? The sheer incompetence of PL refereeing is becoming a huge embarassment. You don't see this shit in international football.
Could there be something more than incompetence with Oliver who once paraded with the Newcastle gear in a pub?

Well that's why analysing a game via xG is terrible. It's a terrible stat on a game to game basis. To take anything out of it you need hundreds of games. However, it wasn't really a dominating performance, but I felt United was still a better side, not comfortably better, but more threatening.
I strongly feel we are the better side and deserve our lead. Brighton is dangerous though so we need to be on full focus in the 2nd half.

The second half could be interesting, there’s no way Brighton could be as bad but they have to go for which could leave some space for us to get more.

I didn't see him even near the ball or am I blind?

We're starting to look dangerously close to a team that knows what it's doing! I think we have more goals in us today as well.

The attack is really interesting now. Feels like we can just bypass the midfield with how good they are at challenging / controlling / winning the second ball.

Appreciate the hard work of Sesko today even as he should have done way better with that chance

This is why the comparisons to Hojlund are nonsense. Yes, he could do better in front of goal, but Hojlund wouldn't have even been in that position. Not too mention that Sesko is winning headers, holding the ball up and linking up with teammates. Hojlund didn't do any of that. In fact Hojlund has had as much of an impact in this match as he did in most matches during his time here.

re: the penalty shout, the replay on my stream clearly showed there was a tiny touch on the ball. You could maybe argue it was still a foul, but he did contact the ball before Amad

I blew my dog’s eardrums in a profanity laden scream at this. Absolute fecking bullshit call and decision.

If Dalot can get his top form going then this is a very strong team we have put there with good bench options. Wish Casimero could maintain this for 90 minutes ++

The low xG can be explained though

Cunha his goal is not a goal most of the time if a random player takes a shot from that position. Cunha can score that goal though. Cunha has the ability to overperform xG because he is a good player. I believe he overperformed his xG last season by quite a bit too?

Casemiro his shot usually isnt a goal from that spot either. It wouldnt have been a goal if not for a huge deflection.

Sesko attempt was likely our highest xG attempt?

Why's that home record changed to "when 2-0 up"? I thought it was just whenever winning

I’ve said it a million times, Hojilund looked really physically strong yet everyone muscled him off the ball and he just fell over every time. Sesko is holding his own.
