Should be a rout, but it won't be. 3-1 United (Falcao x2, Blind)

Falcao hasnt scored 2 goals in a single game yet, so it will be interesting if this really does happen on Tuesday.

Not expecting all of Rooney, RvP, Falcao and Di Maria to start. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mata get a full 90mins, maybe Januzaj as well. Tough one to call, but I'm guessing:

    --------------Valdes
    Rafael--Smalling--McNair--Shaw
    ---------------Blind
    ---------Rooney--Fellaini
    ---------------Mata
    -----RvP/Wilson--Falcao

Cambridge's results since the "Black Friday match"

    Cambridge 1-1 Dagenham & Redbridge
    Luton 3-2 Cambridge
So what you're saying is that Cambridge came out of their own half and as a result conceded 4 goals. Let's hope they dare cross the half way line at Old Trafford, we'll double that if they do.

The reality is that they will play for extra time and penalties and push for set pieces. Get an early goal and force them to need to score and we will chew them up and spit them out. Its essential we play expansive football and use the width well, hopefully a nice level zippy surface to ping it about too compared to that BMX track in the first leg.

How much of an embarrassment would it be if they score against us. Embarrassment to Liverpool as they couldn't get a goal against us. Hope Pereria, Valdes, Januzaj and Herrera play. The rest has to be a slightly strong team

wouldn't play blind, he's too important with carrick out and cambridge wont overload with attackers. Rooney too can sit this one out. Valdes to make his home debut. rafa if he's fit or valencia if not

    McNair
    Rojo
    Shaw

    Herera

Cannot afford having McNair and Blackett at the back, I think he will go for experience there.

    ----------Blind
    -Herrera ----- Fellaini
    ---------Mata
    ---Van Persie ---Wilson

Think Van Gaal sees Rooney as more of a midfielder so I'd drop him after todays performance, give di Maria a rest and play some of the guys who either got 20 mins today or didn't play, hopefully we can put in a performance similar to the one seen today, 4-0 (Van Persie x2, Mata, Falcao from the bench)
I think his formation is in with a great shout of starting, but with us undoubtably going back to 352 against West Ham at the weekend, I think Janujaz may start tomorrow as he wont feature in a 352.

An attacking line up like the one against Leicester would be good. They'll struggle to deal with us going forward and we will dominate the ball possession anyway because of our quality. I'd like Herrera, Mata, Januzaj, Fellaini and Pereira in there somehow.

Difficult to have one of them against such a lower side ? They should be able to cope with Cambridges attack, and knowing that we're heading to West Ham, it could be good to rest crystal Jones

I agree about not risking Blind given Carrick's absence, so we would need an alternative for that holding role - Fletcher would be the obvious option if he hadn't been spending his time recently being messed about in transfer business; perhaps Jones could play DMF like in the old days ahead of the defence but that might give the impression of three at the back which we obviously what to avoid, or maybe we could have another go at playing Fellaini in that holding role? Against Cambridge at home then really any of those options should be acceptable.

Other than Blind and giving starts to Valdes, Wilson and Herrera, then I'd say go strong, we don't play in the league until Sunday and we've got feck all else to think about:

    Valdes
    Rafael/Valencia---Smalling---McNair---Shaw
    Fellaini
    Herrera---Di Maria
    Mata
    Wilson---Falcao
... with the instructions that many fans are forced to attend and it'll be freezing, so give them a few goals to celebrate.

    Now the time for consistency.

Herrera and Mata are very unfortunate.....but for me we must play the same team. Lets get some consistency, confidence and momentum going. Get Cambridge battered early and get Herrera in particular on the field and give him chance to impress.

    Same goes for West Ham!!

Thankfully its Cambridge at home so there's absolutely no point in playing a DM whatsoever, they'll never be in our half to require one.

Yep Blind should stay at home tomorrow.

Rafael, Pereira, Powell and Blackett are starting for the U21's against Fulham in an hour so i doubt they'll be involved at all tomorrow.

    I would like to see.......
Starting XI: Valdes - Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Shaw - Herrera, Fellaini; Januzaj, Mata, Di Maria - Falcao

Bench: De Gea, Smalling, McNair, Lingard, Rooney, Van Persie, Wilson

Rest Roo and start Mata and Herrera.

We're not getting much out of Master Wayne in midfield anyway and the two Spaniards need action, even if it's against a bottom feeder club like Cambridge United. And I don't want to hear that playing Mata and Herrera would jeopardize our chances of beating Cambridge.

I would rest RvP and go with Wilson, though I would understand Louis's decision to start the Dutchman and leave as little to chance as possible.

    De Gea
    Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera Mata Di Maria
    Wilson Falcao

Rafael is playing for the U21s now so you can stop with the lineups including him.

For Manc residents: any danger of this being called off? I'm based south of Manchester at the moment and we've had a lot of snow these past 3 hours, wondering what the conditions are up there.

Beat me to it. And Valencia has been a solid performer.
Yes. At this point I consider Valencia our first choice RB. There's honestly no real urgency to buy a RB but it wouldn't be bad to get one either.

those 4 should be starting the game against Cambridge! league 2 team!

I can see why we probably gonna play a pretty strong team, but its a shame...

Pereira, Blackett and Powell all played 90 minutes too, so we won't be seeing them either.
and with the injuries of Carrick, Evans and Young.....we can assume that is the squad for tomorrow

    Goalkeepers: De Gea, Valdes, Lindegaard
Defenders: Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, McNair, Shaw
Midfielders: Di Maria, Mata, Januzaj, Fellaini, Blind, Herrera
Strikers: Rooney, Van Persie, Falcao, Wilson

That would mean only Lindegaard will miss out

I don't really mind what we play as long as we rest a few important players and give a few youngsters a run out. Would be great to see Valdes as well.

Bollocks to that. 5 days til we play West Ham. Strongest team possible and rest players when it's won. This team needs to gel and games will only help that no matter the competition

It's also vital we win as its wide open this year.
