Play Romero in goal. He is definitely better than this De Gea and possibly even a better all-round goalie.

I am going for a hard 2-1 win. Rashford, Pogba and Hazard.

How? Even if we win we'll be behind them on GD. Then there are 2 more games left after. And this is without taking Arsenal into consideration who are still in a better position than us.
We have 2 games against teams already relegated. We will win these without much effort. Chelsea may feck up one of their remaining 2 matches.

Win this we have a fair shot of making top 4, unbelievably.

This reminds me of the game in December 2015: Chelsea had just sacked Mourinho and were near the relegation zone while we had been losing to just about everyone who happened to be on the same pitch as ourselves, usually without registering a single shot on target.

    That ended an atrocious 0-0.

Would like to see Fred and Lingard at the very least dropped to the bench... don't think we should be rewarding those sort of performances with a start in the next game.

Who do you bring in and who do you take. The level of shit we have in our squad is a joke considering the money spent.

We will try our best and limp to a 1-1 draw. Hazard will have a field day.

We'll quickly run out of players with that sort of meritocratic approach.

Amazing how the hunt for 4th place in the league is a contest between 3 teams who are actively being as shit as each other.

    —————- De Gea —————-
    Dalot —- Smalling - Lindelof - Shaw
    ——-Mctom ————-Fred—————
    ——————Pogba————————
    Lukaku ——Sanchez ———Martial

Front three to switch positions randomly during the match.
    Mctom to bully Hazard.
    Dalot with deadly crosses.
Sanchez, Martial and Pogba play the same kind of football. They link up nicely.
Smalldini and the ice man to keep a clean sheet.

    2-0 win

For all of Youngs (many) limitations, do you really prefer Dalot to play RB against Hazard? How has Dalot convinced you that he's more astute defensively?

Ole has to try something different so I think Sanchez will play, possibly Romero as well. We look finished physically and mentally so see this being a narrow win for Chelsea.

The question is: is he worse defensively? Because he's definitely more likely to produce at least a couple of quality crosses than Young.

Based on what I've seen, yeah I think he is.

And considering how Chelsea are essentially one-man team (unlike City) I'd rather we have our RB focused on doing a job on Hazard above all. That would dramatically increase our chances of winning the game. I don't care about Dalot putting in a couple of good crosses, since we can't score from crosses anyway, while Hazard tears it up at the other end.

    Out of the frying pan....

If we can play with energy like we started against City, Chelsea will be far less likely to play around that and get into the game. We need to make use of our chances and counters though. Lingard and Rashford basically fecked every single on up against City.

Thankfully Chelsea only have 1 Hazard. The game is definitely winnable if we perform well. Which starts with a lot of effort and high pressing. We have to capitalise on the chances that will create though.

    Fair enough.

I'm pretty sick of seeing Young and I'm not sure if Dalot is actually worse defensively - I mean, Young basically assisted Messi at the Camp Nou and can see him doing the same to Hazard.

Agree. And keep the same team as last night. Keep it for the rest of the season if we beat Chelsea. Ole and mourinho the same, never keep/kept the same starting 11 and formation. That's been part of the problem too. Too much rotating with no consistency. In turn our players become inconsistent.

I appreciate the calls for consistency, but don't think now is the correct time to stick with a team. That team simply didn't function in attack. We need to score goals to win matches. I have no clue how much politics in influencing selection however.

    .......... DDG/Romero
    Young Lindelof Smalling Shaw
    ...... Herrera Matic Pogba
    ..... Mata Lukaku Rashford

I swear people who want Matic and Mata to play can't have watched us play once this season.

Have you not seen how pedestrian these players are? Their complete lack of energy, impetus and aggression. We need to win the game. Not have the slowest build up in the history of football ever.

If Arsenal lose to Leicester earlier in the day which is possible given their form then we know a win would put us in pole position for top 4. About time we put a performance in anyway regardless.

We've been laughably bad at home for a while despite not losing that many games overall. Every game at Old Trafford seems to turn into a close run thing this year:

United at Old Trafford in 2019:

    Man Utd 2-0 Reading
    Man Utd 2-1 Brighton
    Man Utd 2-2 Burnley
    Man Utd 0-2 PSG
    Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool
    Man Utd 3-2 Southampton
    Man Utd 2-1 Watford
    Man Utd 0-1 Barcelona
    Man Utd 2-1 West Ham
    Man Utd 0-2 Man City

    Won 5 | Lost 3 | Drew 2

However, in comparison Chelsea are pretty laughable away this year (outside of the Europa League:

    Chelsea Away in 2019:

    Spurs 1-0 Chelsea
    Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea
    Bournemouth 4-0 Chelsea
    Man City 6-0 Chelsea
    Malmo 1-2 Chelsea
    Fulham 1-2 Chelsea
    Kiev 0-5 Chelsea
    Everton 2-0 Chelsea
    Cardiff 1-2 Chelsea
    Slavia Prague 0-1 Chelsea
    Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea

    W5 | Lost 6 | Drew 0

Their only Premier League away wins have been at relegated Fulham and a struggling Cardiff, both being pretty fortunate wins in the end.

It really is a battle between two lumps of shite. We need to find some form up top though as we'll likely need to score twice to win.

It doesn't. A win would put us level on points with Chelsea and behind them on goal difference, unless we smash them by 4 goals (talk about unrealistic, we haven't scored from open play in 5 games).

We'd be in with a decent chance, but certainly no pole position.

Ah yes. For some reason I had us 2 points behind Chelsea.

    Yeah, it’s Arsenal we’re 2 points behind.

Even in a scenario where we win against Chelsea and Arsenal draw at Leicester (a very positive turn of events) we’d remain 6th on goal difference. And thus still require both rivals to drop points in the final 2 games for us to have any hope of 4th.

We’re at win-and-hope territory. It’s out of our control, even if we win the remaining 3. One more slip up and we’re left in the dust.

Presume we will go with the same dull team as always for this?

    Presume:

    De Gea
    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Matic
    Fred Pogba
    Rashford Lingard Martial (Or Lukaku)

    What I would try:

    Romero
    Dalot Smalling Jones Shaw
    Mctom
    Fred Pogba
    Sanchez
    Rashford Greenwood

Energy and legs in Midfield. Fresh look and a feel good factor of Greenwood up top. We need to mix it up and add some passion. All 11 players in the second team above would give 100%.
