get the feeling we might need to score 3 to make sure we win

If we get Jones back it would be a major boost as Rojo/McNair/Smalling wouldn't have the physicality to deal with Lukaku and you can see us struggling badly on set pieces

    I'd like to see

    -----------De Gea-------------
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    -------------Blind--------------
    --------Fellaini - Mata---------
    Januzaj----------------Di Maria
    -------------Falcao-------------

time for Falcao to get a chance to lead the line? unleash Adnan? Fellaini to add some strength to the back for set pieces and to compensate for Mata's lack of defensive work?

I can see us losing this.
Same here unfortunately. Not just because of that Herrera blow, but because you just know Everton will get at our defence on the counter. Unless we score a couple early on and sit back a bit, it could get messy.

Everton will have Naismith, Lukaku and McGeady up front - nothing about those three screams messy.

They play well though. Naismith looks like a useful player now, and the other two vs our defence..... We were done up by Vardy for goodness sake. I can't help but be a bit nervous about this game.

    -----------David------------
    ---------who cares?-------
    -----------Blind-----------
    -di maria:devil:------Pereira:smirk:--
    -----------mata:drool:----------
    ------Falcao:D---RVP:cool:

That is what i would want. We win by 15-14, winner late in the game at about 64 mins. By that time everyone would be tired of attacking.

Just you wait and see. Those three with inevitably terrorise us.
He forgets, the absolute brain farts we will have at the back. We cant defend set pieces to save our life, I would be more confident on a penalty/free kick than on a set peice vs lukaku/jagielka/stones etc.

If Rooney, Carrick, Herrera, Fellaini, Jones, Evans, Smalling, Young, Wilson, Lingard, James & Johnstone are all out then.....

Starting XI: De Gea - Rafael, Blackett, Rojo, Shaw - Blind, Fletcher; Januzaj, Mata, Di Maria - Van Persie

Bench: Lindegaard, McNair, Thorpe, Valencia, Anderson, Pereira, Falcao

Very much doubt van Gaal will play two left footed centre-backs. McNair or Jones, if he's fit, will probably partner Rojo.

It would of been a great time to play yous if wasn't for our own injuries and us playin in Russia on Thursday. Instead it's a great time to play us.
It's a crazy and a joke that Everton have to play on Sunday lunchtime after a Thursday EL tie (That's far away from home is another shocking point)
I really feel sorry for you guys......it's great for us no doubt.....but the PL+TV stations really don't care the clubs

Yeah i know Van Gaal prefers one right footed and one left footed as centre-backs.....and McNair has played well against West Ham
But i would prefer Blackett & Rojo against Lukaku instead of McNair & Rojo against him
Hopefully Jones is fit (also he'll be out for months if he clashes with Lukaku)

If we can finish with 11 on the pitch this week don't see this being a problem.

Everton were fortunate to nick a point last week and seemed happy to defend for most of the game.

    I'd go...

    DDG

    Rafael (Excellent last week)
    Jones
    Rojo
    Shaw

    Blind
Carrick (Is he fit? If not Fletch)
    Di Maria
    Mata

    RVP
    Falcao

Harsh on McNair who did nothing wrong, but he should make the bench.

    Di maria Fletcher
    Mata
    Rvp falcao

Will gravitate towards Fletcher and blind sitting, mata in front and one winger in di maria

Is Jones fit for this one?
I don't think anything has been confirmed one way or the other yet, but he's in contention. We'll probably find out during the press conference.

Bit nervous about this without much defence to chose from and Herrera and Rooney out.
I know for a fact we can take 3 points of Chelsea at home if our players show up, Jose will no doubt park a 18 wheeler truck in his own half and hit us on the break when he can.
Ambitious, I doubt if anyone in the league right now could take 3 points from Chelsea.

It is a bit annoying but the TV hold all the power once you accept the money.

Coleman, McCarthy, Pienaar and Distin are the only senior players not to travel with the squad to Russia. Martinez knows that McCarthy being fully charged will be key if we are to pick up any points on Sunday.

Game is on at 6 am. If I wake up to see Valencia is in the starting 11 I'm going right back to sleep.

Valencia, Young and Anderson have done everything in their power to encourage me to stop watching football. After one purely defensive cameo in which he ran the ball to the corner, he does NOT deserve a place in our starting line up.

Especially after all the bile that others have poured on Valencia the past two years, I can't believe what I'm reading here.

Keep going back and forth on whether we'll play a diamond or a 4-4-2 with di Maria and januzaj or valencia on the wings. Both would be decent options and valencia would make us stronger defensively on that flank at least. Think Pereira will come on as a sub only whatever the case though, Fletcher is vice captain so he'll start.

Yup agree. Valencia the defensive winger will be good against Baines.
Yeah, I just hope he doesn't stay pinned out on the right though, because he'll have to play Ander's right sided CM role rather than his usual right winger role, so he will be expected to drift infield more and get more involved. I think he's the best replacement for Ander though.

Hopefully Pereira will start. He is the closest thing we have to Herrera, and I think that he will be a better choice than Valencia or Fletcher.

Same formation as recent, just Fellaini in for Herrera, if he's fit, if not, then Carrick and if he's injured then Fletcher.
Can bring Januzaj on for Falcao and play a 4-2-3-1 if we need to change things. Hope Jones is back, he and Rojo will be our best defensive pairing.

Its already a foregone conclusion that Martinez would try to overload the flanks and have a go at our full backs in the diamond formation. I hope we have a solid defensive game plan for this one and Rafael keeps his wits on him against any provocation. It'd be tremendously satisfactory to beat the smug off Everton's face after last season.

How is Pereira defensively though? he looked quite lightweight any time I've watched him, despite being good on the ball.

The Guardian thinks Carrick and Jones have been doing light training away from the main group, while Fellaini has been in full training since the start of this week, so may be in contention for a place in the 18 at the weekend. Given LVG's approach to selection with regards to fitness, it is hard to imagine any of those 3 starting against Everton (assuming the info is correct).
