If Lingard is injured, why not give Angel Gomes a go?
Because he' not shown he's ready to start a game for us. We're positioning for top4, not relying on a kid to go from the U23's to the First XI and perform at that level. I'd be fine with Gomes playing a nothing game, but this particular one is very, very important.

I would like to see this team. Quick play when we have the ball, and let the Everton CB's ponder on the ball most of the time then force mistakes if they try to advance and counter attack. I hope we don't feel we have to spend a lot of time on the ball and thus slow down our own play, we're at our best when we just go for it and work harder than the other team to win the ball back and then try again.

    DDG
    AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Williams
    Fred-McTominay
    James-Martial-Rashford
    Greenwood

Ps. What is with the selfish thing?

Definitely - Martial is going to be amazing playing as a number 10 in my opinion.

I really hope Ole tries this out one time.

He can make the short passes, can make the interlinking play, can make the runs once he makes the passes, is able to dribble from deep.

He's the player that makes our play the most fluid for our whole team apart from Pogba & it's Martial who should be playing deeper and centrally in CAM with the freedom to get forward in my opinion.

It's very similar to how depay plays as a CAM for Lyon or Netherlands occasionally.
At the start of the season, much was made of Martial moving to number 9 this season, but he seems to have the skills we want at the 10 position, particularly with Greenwood showing so much at the 9. I don't want to see Pogba leave, but this should seriously be on the table if he does.

    Team I would pick:

    De Gea
    AWB Lindelöf Maguire Shaw
    Mctominay Fred
    James Pereira Rashford
    Martial

Obviously if Lingard is fit he replaces Pereira in the number 10 position.

I see a lot of people pick Greenwood as the number 10, but it's not wise to pick a 18 year old in such a crucial time in our schedule. No doubt he would do a better job than Pereira but considering Greenwood played a full 90 minute game yesterday I certainly don't want to risk him getting injured against a physical Everton team.

It's also good to have attacking reinforcements on bench, if we played Greenwood then we'd have none.

Hopefully Lingard is fit or semi fit so he can replace Pereira, and Greenwood can replace either Rashford or James in the latter stages if we have a decent lead.

Result wise I'm not as optimistic: 2-2 with Everton getting a late equaliser.

Would rather keep Martial as a 9 for now. Our current system gains a lot from having a 9 who can drop deep and link play (effectively playing the false 9 role, like Firmino for Liverpool). Also gives our wide forwards more freedom to do some damage.

I agree Greeenwood has the makings of a great 9, but given he's also shown promise as a wide forward, I'd stick to what has worked so far this season and keep Martial up top.

I thought with the site upgrade we would be able to predict score lines of above 5 - oh well I’ll have to limit myself with my prediction this time around

I'd be amazed if he started Greenwood. It will be a front three of Rashford, James and Martial with either Pereira (likely) or Mata (unlikely) behind them with Fred and McT.

First 15 minutes of this game are key. Both teams are on the back of good results, with Toffees on the new manager bounce. If we can keep possession make sure the crowd is behind us we should be able to take control.

Really need to follow up the Spurs and City performances/results with a good win tomorrow. Especially as we go in to the busy period of games over Xmas. Weiredly a lot rests on Lingard being fit for this game as him being #10 has helped make things click. The rest of the team should be fit and raring to go after 8 days off (although Harry had a runout in midweek). Hopefully defence can avoid the brainfarts and DeGea keeps a clean sheet.

    Cant wait for this now.

    Gone all guuns blazing with this one;

    De Gea
    AWB.....Lindelof.....Maguire....Shaw
    Scott.....Frediniho
    James....Martial....Rashford
    Greenwood
Will most likely see either, Mata or Periera come in for Mason though, but would love to see this with Martial's close control and technique on the turn, could do some real damage with the other 3 running off him.

This will be easy on Sunday, we are going to thrash them. I believe we will get the crowd going through Rashford from the get go and the rest of the team will keep pushing us in front. We'll take the lead early and then go on to score a few more. Greenwood will be subbed in second half and he'll continue his scoring brace.

Thanks to that Chelsea surprise defeat United can now move within 2 points of 4th but can't take anything for granted as Everton are better than both Norwich, Bournemouth who picked up away results this afternoon.

Every single time there's a chance to close the gap we fecking blow it.

Massive game tomorrow, to get within 2 points off fourth would be incredible considering the points we've dropped.

With Spurs and Chelsea playing each other next week, this has become the biggest game of our season.

It’s now or never to put an end to this era of false dawns. There’s an opportunity. Please, let’s grab it.

Need to start Greenwood. Much rather him than Pereira, Mata or a half fit Lingard.

Lingars has been very good and seems highly motivated recently. Also now he has made his recent personal issues public, I expect the fan base to get behind him. He should start.

Simply not true. We've closed the gap the past 2 games after Chelsea dropped points.

Half expecting Ferguson to put in a big tackle on Rashford himself if he gets close enough. Pretty sure the man recites the Braveheart speech in the dressing room

If we beat Everton & Watford and Tottenham draw against Wolves & Chelsea, we'll be in the top 4 on xmas day.

Let that sink in for a minute. A lot of ifs and buts but just sayin'.
