I think we can still go all out to win and sensibly mix squad players with the stronger players. For example we can afford to try playing Scott and Fred behind Bruno to see if that still works. Give lingard some more game time. Possibly Give Matić a long rest. Maybe sub Chong on for Rashford with 30 mins left or even try him at left back. Give Dalot or Laird a run out. That kind of thing. Winning this with the second highest wage bill in the game is no great achievement. we should obviously still try and win but let the fringe players earn their money and take some pressure off our main stars before the new season starts. Hopefully this will be our last campaign in the EL for a long time and we should have enough to mix the fringes and the headline players and still get to the final

Assuming we win, can we get anyone left in the semis? As in — are Inter on the same ‘side’ as us or can we only possibly face them in the final?

They're pretty terrible. Watched them live twice against Malmo. Absolutely toothless even at home (and lost) also nowhere near the league title in Denmark... Can't see them scoring, and can't see them not conceding. We'll win comfortably. Best team please.

    DDG
    AWB, VNL, Maguire, Williams
    Matic
    Bruno, Pogba
    Greenwood, Martial, Rashford
The team picks itself, and i'll be disappointed if we don't win by 2 clear goals, but if we don't start right it could be a long nervy evening.

    ——————————-Romero—————————
    Bissaka —-Lindelof——-Maguire—Williams
    ———————-Matic—-Pogba————————-
    Greenwood———Bruno—————Rashford
    —————-———-Martial———————————

And for 1/2 and final, same squad with de Gea in goal. 1/4 may be given to Romero

Caf has an obsession with resting players
SAF used to do it a bit too much too. Maybe people are learning from him?
Having many players getting games is good though, but not for knockout games since you can't bounce back.

Whoever wins of Wolves vs Olympiakos and Sevilla vs Roma tonight will meet each other in the QF, and the winner of that match will meet us in the Semi.
Inter only possible for the Final.

Ole will definitely play our strongest XI. Otherwise he wouldn't have brought all the big guns back to training over a week ago.

Myself I'd have let the starting XI stay on holidays for two weeks to be rested for next season and come in only for the semis. Hopefully our lack of depth, poor transfer window and desperation for a trophy doesn't ruin next season.

Perfect, ta. Seems harder than our win in 2017.

It takes 50 hours to Cycle from Manchester to Cologne, but only 40 from Copenhagen to Cologne so Copenhagen are classed as the home side by UEFA ....

I was Joking about the away goals.

Now where did I put my Bike?
On the road between Manchester and Cologne, of course. You just might get there in time to cheer outside the stadium.

Full strength. Don't underestimate anyone quarters and beyond. Yeah we probably could win this with a fairly rotated squad but we could also lose it. Let's give ourselves some really good odds:

    Romero
    AWB Lind Maguire Williams
    Matic Pogba
    Bruno
    Greenwood Martial Rashy

Messi Lingard to come in at 60th min and score a belter

We finally play a Danish side again, and of course it is at a neutral ground  FCK's home ground is a few hundred yards from my apartment as well.

Anyway, play the best XI with Romero in goal.

De Gea is a better player. But it is acceptable to play Romero in 1/4 as it’s not a very strong opponent. But for later stages we need the best

I'm expecting a tougher match than LASK, mainly because it's a 1 legged affair so they will go absolutely all out for 90+ minutes. They also play a very similar formation to us with a 4-2-3-1, and have a few decent players. That being said, we should be winning this one without too much drama, this is a team that would seriously struggle in the Premiership.

Karl Johnsen is Swedens 3rd choice keeper in goal who can't get many caps because of Romas back up shot stopper.

Guillerme Varela we're all well aware of, decent attacking wingback who will be well up for the challenge and will put pressure on Rashford, wouldn't surprise me at all knowing him if he has the game of his life. However he's struggling to get into a Uruguayan squad begging for a right back.

Victor Nelsson is a young defender who's come on leaps and bounds this season, playing in the majority of the teams league games whilst only just turning 21

Andreas Bjelland is their vice captain, and most dominant defender, with 29 caps for Denmark he's quite experienced, but should struggle with the pace of our attackers.

Nicolai Boilesen, perhaps one of the more recognizable names on their team, he spent a good few years at Ajax, 2 of which he was their first choice left back. However, as has been the theme so far he's struggled to establish himself as a regular for his country with 15 caps.

Zeca is a tough tackling Greek international who was born in Portugal, however since qualifying for Greek citizenship has been a regular for his adopted homeland. He's the clubs captain, and was a huge part of them winning their league in 2018/2019

Robert Mudražija I literally know nothing about him, other than he's Croatian and they signed him for 3 million euros last season.

Jonas Wind At only 21, is a player I like and will definitely break into the Danish squad sooner rather than later, strong, tall, and technically very gifted he's one player I'd be wary about. Matic will have to keep an eye on him at all times as he has a goal in him. ONE TO WATCH!

Razmus Falk another player I know very little about, only has 1 cap for Denmark, and it came all the way back in 2013, but he scored the winner in the last round and may well keep his place as he's played 116 league games since 2016.

Pep Biel made the move to Denmark last season after helping Zaragoza avoid relegation in the previous season, played extremely well against Celtic before the lockdown, but again shouldn't be someone we worry too much about.

Mikkel Kaufmann since Victor Fischer seems to be injured? The 19 year old prospect has come in and played quite well, although he's perhaps struggled to make the same impact as a certain teenage striker playing for us.

For this competition we need someone who is a god safe pair of hands, not an error prone GK.

I seriously cannot believe people will start DeGea over Romero for this tournament. It is almost as if some people have forgotten about DeGea's horror show against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.

When has Romero ever fecked up that badly?

De Gea would have easily saved the goal - the shot was not very difficult, but Romero didn’t even jump (just fell).

To all those saying we should start DeGea I would ask this:

Have you guys completely forgotten about that game against Chelsea in the FA cup semi-final? That, and the fatct hat DeGea has been out of form for a while, committing mistake after mistake. Romero has never messed up that badly. Romero is a good player and deserves to play for the rest of this turnament. He was good enough in 2017, when we last won the Europa league and he is good enough now.

We made it hard for ourselves because Jose was all about shutting shop once we were 1-0 up.

We're far more set up to attack this time round as much as teams look tougher on paper.

He's not good enough to start unless it's a pretty weak side.

However I'd be tempted to start him against Copenhagen

If we want de Gea to sit on the bench until his 350k per week contract runs out, the best thing to do is bench him for this trophy run. If we want to have any chance of moving his contract for any fee and promoting Henderson, de Gea needs to be a positive reason why we lift the trophy.

Look at Mike Smalling, able to afford an apartment in Copenhagen.
