Fulham Football Club (also known as The Cottagers or The Whites), is a professional association football club based in Fulham, West London, England. Fulham were formed in 1879 as Fulham St Andrew's Church Sunday School F.C., founded by worshipers (mostly adept at cricket) at the Church of England on Star Road, West Kensington (St Andrew's, Fulham Fields). Fulham's mother church still stands today with a plaque commemorating the team's foundation. They won the West London Amateur Cup in 1887 and, having shortened the name from Fulham Excelsior to its present form in 1888, they then won the West London League in 1893 at the first attempt.

Fulham started playing at their current ground at Craven Cottage in 1896, their first game against now defunct rivals Minerva. Fulham are one of the oldest established clubs in southern England currently playing professional football, though there are many non-league sides like Kent side Cray Wanderers who are several decades older. The club gained professional status on 12 December 1898, the same year that they were admitted into the Southern League's Second Division. They were the second club from London to turn professional, following Arsenal, then named Royal Arsenal 1891.

After suffering relegation to The Championship in 2013, Fulham have been on a road to recovery and were promoted to the Premier League on 26 May 2018, by winning 1–0 in the 2018 EFL Championship play-off Final against Aston Villa. Fulham fans consider their main rivals to be Chelsea, followed by Queens Park Rangers. They also have rivalries with other London clubs, including Brentford and Crystal Palace.

Martial to get some minutes on the pitch? (hopefully doesn't get injured again)

Assuming Antony is back if it was only minor illness, but if he's out then Sancho instead or move Bruno to the right I guess. I feel EtH sees McTominay as the Casemiro deputy, but he doesn't want to start him with Fred either... Could end up being all of Bruno, Fred, Sabitzer and McTominay starting.

I could see Lindelof or Martinez being used as a DM, but I feel like that's something EtH would do to see the game out for the last 20 minutes rather than start.

Also, just remembered I have a ticket for this one

    Antony for Sancho if fit.

    Hard thought 2-1 win.

Why play our best centre half in midfield when we have fit central midfielders in Fred, Bruno, Sabitzer and Mctominay. Even Mainoo?

We'll, rightly, go with a strong line up as ETH, thankfully, wants to win trophies rather than just hide behind the 'top 4 trophy' bs.

The only question marks for me are will Antony be fit to return? Who'll replace Casemiro? And the usual AWB or Dalot?

    I'll go with...

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka
    Varane
    Martinez
    Shaw

    McTominay / Sabitzer
    Fred

    Antony / Sancho
    Fernandes
    Rashford

    Weghorst

Am I right in thinking Palhinha is injured at the moment for Fulham? Comfortable win if he is, tough game if he's available to play.

    I don't think he is.

He's missed the last two league games through suspension after reaching 10 bookings. But he'd be back from that for the cup game and I haven't heard anything about him also being injured.

Yeah tbh don’t know why I engage with it. You going Sunday?
Yes, first game since Barca at home actually. Shifted a few after a ridiculous February for the bank balance.

Edit- First at OT,did the LC final.

Barca not a bad one to have got to last. Sounded electric. I’ll be there Sunday too. Hoping for a good send off before the break and a decent atmosphere. It’s not meant to rain so already winning!

Why doesn’t he play there next to Casemiro then?
Because we have Casemiro there and dont need two holding midfielders, obviously

We know Fred cant play that role. Bruno is a disaster there. McTominay last played in a deeper role vs Arsenal and was horrific.

So why not experiment and try a combination that wont get absolutely destroyed when we play Newcastle

    In terms of the game…

Think it will be tricky in the midfield with Palhinha. He’s been really good for them and we will be up against it without Case.

    Last game before the international break so full strength;

    De Gea
    Shaw
    Martinez
    Varane
    Wan Bissaka
    Fred
    Sabitzer
    Bruno
    Rashford
    Weghorst
    Antony

If Antony not fit then toss up between Sancho and Pellistri.

Hoping Martial is on the bench and gets some minutes before the internationals.

So you want to play our best centre half in a position he has never played for United, or in England, rather than play the actual players we have for that position in their own positions as this will stop us getting absolutely destroyed against Newcastle in several weeks time?

You're the sort that if Martinez was unavailable you'd play Varane and Maguire and then get stomped.

If I suggested playing Shaw there instead and Malacia at LB, you'd have said the exact same.

No, I’d play Shaw because Shaw has played LCB for us on several occasions now and shown he’s capable.

    What are you talking about?

Before ETH decided to play Shaw as a CB in a back four he hadn't played there before. Maybe in a back 5 under Ole once or twice.

"Why are we moving our best left back to a position he's not a specialist in when we have specialist centre backs"
Answer - because the specialist CB options are shit.

So you’re suggesting because Shaw can play LCB, Martinez can play CM.

    Interesting view.

The last time McTominay played in a deeper role was last league game, against Southampton, and did well in Casemiro's absence down a player.

As long as we don't get a dodgy ref/VAR, confident to win this.

DDG, Dalot (only because AWB started today), Varane, Martinez, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Bruno, Rashford, Weghorst, Antony

De Gea, Varane, AWB will at least get some rest during international break.

Do hope Martial can at the very least be on the bench, he's been training with the squad enough at this point and if he can't make the bench even then just needs to get back with the medical staff.
