    This is the test

Can we turn up against against "poorer" teams

They're flying at the min so hopefully won't sit back

The final part will be key. If they don't sit back, there should be lots of space in behind for us to exploit. I'm much more worried if they do sit back, as we struggle to break teams down who play like that and can be very vulnerable to counter attacks.

Last 10 of their really good run of form consists of

    L- Citeh
    L- Palace (15th)
    W- Burnley (19th)
    W- Forest (17th)
    W- West Ham (18th)
    D- Liverpool
    D- Palace (15th)
    W- Chelsea
    L- Leeds (16th)
    W-Brighton (12th)

So 17 of 30 points is now a really good run of form? I mean it's decent, wouldn't call it a really good run given the majority of their points gained was against the bottom 5 clubs in the league. Only really notable win is the one vs Chelsea which they had a man advantage for 75 minutes
It’s more the performances they have put in. They aren’t a team to sit back and soak up pressure. They’ll have a go.

Under Carrick so far have beaten Man City,Arsenal who most was expecting United to lose against

Now playing Fulham at home where most will be expecting United to win.

    Carrick first real/big test?

I was at Craven Cottage a few weeks ago when Fulham secured a draw against Liverpool. The equalizer at the death was a strike for the ages. Fulham are a very solid squad and is well coached. We have every reason to expect a win over them but it's going to be a very tough match for us. Bums will twitch.

I'd go with same starting XI, but then again Cunha has been so brilliant it would almost be criminal to not start him. But for who? Not Dorgu and not Mbeumo. And I'd say not Amad either, who is perfectly built to break down deep defenses.

We have to go into this game with the exact same intensity as the previous 2. Fulham have been playing well this season so underestimate them and we'll drop points.

It was fantastic to beat City and Arsenal but dropping points here would really take the shine off. This is a different kind of test for Carrick so it'll be really interesting to see how we perform.

Everyone seeing Dorgu giving way for Cunha?

Given we're likely to be playing against a much more defensive team, does it make more sense for Shaw to drop, play Dorgu there, and he can play the role very high and give us more attacking options?

I understand the reasoning for bringing Cunha in, but I wouldn’t drop Dorgu when he’s on such a tear. When a player’s on a hot streak of scoring and assisting you keep him in. And he’s shown an ability to play a part in those tight passing passing triangles which could help open up a more set defence, whilst still being able to inject pace and directness. And Cunha’s been making a great impact from the bench which could be very useful to turn the game in our favour if things are tight.

I haven't looked at the other teams best run of 10 fixtures this season. But I reckon this is good in this particular Premier League season  I wouldn't be surprised if only Arsenal, City, Villa and Liverpool have had significantly better 10-game runs than this. Maybe Sunderland at the start of the season?

I'd agree that generally this isn't really good, but the teams from 4th to about 12th aren't being consistently better than this.

In the form table of the last six games Fulham are third, and in the form table of the last ten games Fulham are fifth (behind Villa, City, Arsenal and us).

So yeah, relative to the league, they are on a strong run of form and this will likely be a tough test.

He's also been very important in helping defend the half spaces where Harry Wilson usually likes to pop up and be a matchwinner for them.

Yep, good point. Him and Amad’s ability to come narrow to help out Mainoo and Casemiro has been huge. If he’s fit I’d be getting him to put a shift in and then hit them with a fresh Cunha early second half.

I want to see the players enjoy it. Bruno, Cunha, Mbeumo, Amad, Sesko, Dorgu. There is creative talent there, express it with a bit of freedom.

Great seeing Mainoo feature so heavily. If him and Cas get a real grip of that midfield, we could really motor.

Fulham is just 2 points after Liverpool and they are a difficult team to play against. But I think we are going to win 2-1:

    -------------------------Lammens---------------------
    Dalot-----------Maguire----Martinez-------Shaw
    ------------------Casemiro--Mainoo---------------------
    ------------------------------Bruno------------------------------
    Amad---------------------------------------------------Cunha
    -------------------------------Mbeumo----------------------------

I think (from the pictures yesterday) Dorgu has a hamstring and therefore will be out for 2-3 weeks.

Will have to make do without Dorgi Best :(

Nah, I'd like to see him change up the team and still get results. That's a key management skill at a big club.

There's no way you can play the same team for 17 games in a row, and other players need their chances.

Week between matches and the the ones who has started have all been great. You dont bench players who has performed like that. Cunha deserves a chance if Dorgu aint fit, but Sesko shouldnt go ahead of Mbuemo or Ugarte for Mainoo. Doesnt make sense right now

    We'll win this.

Different kind of challenge, but Carrick finds the solutions, the mood in the squad is great and we have most players available. The main thing is that the team take it seriously and comes out correctly for the game, but I have a good feeling.

Will be interesting to see the next 3 games just as much as City and Arsenal. To get the permanent job Carrick will need to prove he can beat all types of teams.

We can play a slightly more attacking lineup this weekend.

    Lammens
    Mazroaui Maguire Martinez Dorgu
    Mainoo Casemiro
    Mbuemo Fernandes Cunha
    Sesko

Amad could come off the bench this weekend, or Mbuemo instead of Cunha who probably deserves to start a game for rotation as he's fresher.

Hopefully Dorgu was just cramp and not a hamstring issue, if not Shaw could start. It's a good thing to rest both of them at some point as Dorgu is really putting a shift in and Luke Shaw hasn't played left back for awhile. Perhaps the next 3 games they can be rotated at left back instead of both playing every game and risking injury.

Proper banana skin. Reverse jinx, we will steamroll them.

I would go a bit more attacking and play Maz, Cunha and Sesko. Hard to leave out Dorgu or Amad though. Proper headache for Carrick

This could arguably the first test for Carrick's suitability for the job long-term. Even under Amorim we were able to raise our game for the bigger matches, not so much against teams lower down the league.

Fulham won't be expected to dominate the ball so we will have to approach it much differently than City and Arsenal.

Absolutely. As amazing as the last 2 results have been, a performance in this game is necessary. I’m looking forward to how we approach the game.

I can see Amad getting a rest as he's been all go since AFCON.

Cunha or Sesko to come in and maybe one of Dalot/Shaw will also get a rest (Unless he moves Dorgu to left back in which case both will come in)

I think everyone came to say the same thing. We usually manage to raise our gane for the big matches - its ones like this we suffer with.

Liverpool and Villa are both playing decebt sides. Chelsea are playing West Ham who've won 3 in a row.

If we win and others fumbke we can put some daylight between us. The culture shift at the club has to be chase down third, not secure 4th. Look forward not back.

Where does the idea of dropping Dorgu come from, Cunha would be coming inward into the space Bruno already occupies. Dorgu on the other hand will stay wide stretching their defense on that side like he did against Newcastle, he can also attack the back post when the ball comes from the other flank.

Dorgu wide allows Shaw to focus on supporting the midfield and stopping transitions. It's a good problem to have, having this options.
I'll go for the exact same line, I'm more tempted to include Sesko for box presence and Mazraoui because I rate him higher than Dalot, I'll keep everything else the same.

If it was only cramp then Cunha will not start over Dorgu and we will start with the same team as last game.
We are playing one game a week guys.

Dorgu is out till April. So it'll be Cunha left probably.

April?! Thats a bloody long one, is that confirmed? Looked like he'd pulled hammy but 8 weeks feels excessive!
10 weeks says Whitwell. We just have a massive gap between mid March to mid April so I'd assume April 11th vs Leeds is the target

    Still got the same medics?

Think we’ll be okay with this. Carrick, Holland etc have lifted the mood as well as the standard

Time to see how we do against a team that lets us have the ball.

How long has it been since we won three Premier League games in a row?

Irrespective, it's going to happen on Sunday.

Yeah, not long ago as others have said  but I think it was the only time Amorim did it?

    2-0 vs Sunderland, 04/10
    1-2 vs Liverpool, 19/10
    4-2 vs Brighton, 25/10

I do think that lad should be charging his hair clippers now though...
