I would like to see something like:

    Romero

    Valencia Smalling Blind Darmian

    Schweinsteiger Pogba

    Mata Rooney Mkhitaryan

    Ibra

Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Ibra to come off after 60 minutes or so for Herrera, Martial and Rashford. We want our key players to be rested, but at the same time match fit for Liverpool match.

I think Jose will want to get the job done in the first leg and will field a stronger line-up than today.

No way that Carrick is starting this. He played on last Tuesday and played today. If he starts this and the Liverpool match (he should start against Scousers) it would be 4 matches in less than 2 weeks, and he cannot do that anymore. Add to that, he lost some blood today. I hope he gets the day off and is rested to dominate the Scousers.

As sure as I was that Carrick would play today, I'm as sure he'll be rested here. A Herrera, Pogba, Mata 3 should be fine.

That really isnt true at all. I have watched quite a number of Hull perfomances this season, and I can attest that they are a decent side. Saw them against City and Everton recently, and they look much better than their results suggest. Thats why I felt Phelan was really hard done by.
I also watched them away to West Ham and they deserved to win that comfortably, so I definitely agree that their performances have been better than their results.

Should be another routine game like today which would make the second a formality. Hopefully the manager change has a negative effect too.

    Romero
    TFM Smalling Jones Darmian
    Schweinsteiger Pogba
    Lingard Mata Martial
    Rashford

Is what I'd play. No chance of it, as herrera and Ibra and probably miki and de gea will be back in, but I would keep a rotated squad for this.
No need to rotate squad for this (bar Carrick who played full 90 today). Liverpool game is 5 days later, which is followed by Stoke game 6 days after that, enough time recover. Our goal should be to win the tie in the first game so we can rotate for the 2nd leg. After that 2nd leg we have Hull and Leicester 4 days apart and then EL starts and our congested fixtures. Being able to rest key players in that game would benefit us much more than rotating squad for the first tie.

I'd be tempted to play a weaker side with an eye to the Liverpool game. Stronger than today, but I'd rest Carrick and Zlatan still.

    Romero
    Valencia - Jones - Smalling - Blind
    Schweinsteiger
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mata - Rashford - Martial

I want to win this competition as I'm sure Jose does, any bit of silverware is something to celebrate.

That said, with Liverpooo in mind the following weekend I wouldn't risk playing the likes of Carrick, Ibrahimovic, Mhkitaryan and Pogba. Would like to see Martial and Rashford continue in the side and would be good to see Schweinsteiger replace Carrick.

Going for a comfortable 3-0 win, Hull aren't in great form and despite them having a new manager and a win today vs Swansea, I fully expect us to win Tuesday.

People are underestimating Hull. They lose a lot of games but, I have seen very few games where they haven't been competitive.
They're a decent team. IMO, there should be not question about playing a weakened side. Play your strongest side and get the job done.

Their whole defence might be out, to be fair.

I would like to see an unchanged lineup, except replace carrick with TFM and Darmian or Shaw if possible with Jones

I can't see it happening though

I guess 5 days between this and Liverpool is long enough for the likes of Zlatan to rest up. Expect bar Carrick our 'first' XI

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Jones--Blind
    -------Herrera-------Pogba-------
    Mata----------Rooney----------Mkhitarayan
    ----------------Zlatan----------------

Subs: Romero, Darmian, Fosu-Mensah, Fellaini, Lingard, Martial, Rashford

I'd say having rested all the vital players (Ibra, Pogba, Herrera, Valencia) today, you play the full-strength team and use this as a way to get as sharp as possible for Liverpool (whilst also winning, one would hope.)

Only exception to that would be to leave Carrick out to keep him ultra fresh. I'm sure Schweinsteiger, Herrera and Pogba will be a strong enough midfield against Hull, no matter how underrated and potentially banana-skin-y they are.

    So:

    Ibra
    Martial ----Miki-----
    Pogba Herrera
    BFS
    Blind Jones Smalling Valencia
    DDG
Rashford and Timmy to come on as subs, nice and early if possible

    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhi Rashford Martial

Sub in Rooney/Mata and Schweini for Herrera and Pogba with 10/15 mins to go
Maybe Tuanzebe for one of the CBs too

Even if Mourinho is saying he's going to play the ones that didn't play against Reading, there's still one attacking player from Mata, Rooney, Martial and Rashford that will have to feature again, cause Memphis doesn't seem to count now.

Really hope we kill this tie at home. Hull will probably park the bus, even if we go 1 up, considering their defensive woes.

Yep. Now that Rashford found his shooting boots I think he should be given the game. Though I think it will be a 4231 against Hull where Rooney/Mata play at No.10 and Rashford/Martial/Lingard play from the left. De Gea, Valencia, Shaw, Herrera, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, and Ibrahimovic to return, with Smalling & Jones to continue at the back.

There's no point playing a CDM in this game.

If this is the case we should really field the strong team (apart from Carrick) and twat them completely. There's 5 days between this game and Pool so there's more than enough time to recover. After the return leg on 26th we have FA cup on 29th and then we enter period where we play several games every 3-4 days and getting comfortable win with 3+ goals on tuesday will allow us to rest all key players for that game.

They genuinely only have about 3 fit senior defenders for this game. 2 are full-backs and one is a wing-back that really can't defend (El-Mohammedy). No CBs.

Just get this semi-final over with in the first-leg, please.

I'm gonna sound completely conservative here, but I still want to wrap some of our key players in cotton wool to reduce the risk of pointless injuries, like the one with Rojo. Hull will undoubtedly park a two-deck bus on us, and they might be unnecessarily tough on tackling if they come with that ultra-defensive mindset. Pogba, Zlatan, Miki, etc. could get a 30 mins run-out if Jose so wishes.
