 That statement about van Persie was a bunch of BS. He's obviously going to get rested during the week but the comments were clearly posturing to make it seem like the big bad van Gaal did it because he's going to play bad.

How in God's name is RVP starting. Also not understanding why Herrera is not getting a chance

Persie again. At this point im starting to think that persie might continue to start till end of season no matter how shit his performance.

Switch rooney and mata of course, but I reckon as we're home, hull city will park the bus so Van gaal is fine with putting 2 wingers like valencia and young at fullback. It's like a 3-5-2, but as you say, a diamond hybrid. A diamond where the fullbacks will be like wing backs.
Nah I think LvG would be more comfortable with Rooney at 10 and Mata closer to RvP.

Rojo's done well to get fit. Pleased for him, and for the team. That was a nasty one that he got but I don't think we need to be worried about him being injury prone going forward, he's as hard as nails. Valencia and Young both did really well against Arsenal but neither of those two can rarely string two good consecutive performances together so it will be interesting to see how they do today.

Shame that Falcao still isn't fit enough otherwise I'd like to bet that he would have definitely replaced RvP who for me, has got to do something today otherwise he will be getting dropped next week. Not that I don't want him to be dropped because I think he needs a rest but I mean from his perspective.

I got 9 out of the 11, including one from the subs. Have the subs been announced?
Lindegaard, Blackett, McNair, Fletcher, Herrera, Januzaj, Falcao

You get one point for anyone you picked in the starting lineup and one point for each sub that comes on from three, so a max total of 14 (11+3). If you pick only one or two subs and that's how it works out you get all 3 points for the subs. Nothing else counts.

Had a dream last night where I put on Soccer Saturday at 4.45 and saw we had lost this game 6-4.

If it's any consolation though, it's unlikely to happen since at the same time, Real Madrid had just scored a last minute equaliser to make it 3-3 against Real Sociedad in the Europa League final to take it to extra time.

How can he drop RVP today? Falcao's not fit enough to start and rumours are Wilson's injured.. once Falcao is proper fit then I have no doubt he'll rotate him and RVP depending on form

The only question I have is why not one of the kids at CB for Carrick. Other than that, I guess it's pretty standard. It seems he really favours a back 3 and couldn't wait to go back to it. I trust him, and trust the team to get a much needed win.

Well, we are matching up with Hull it seems, as there team looks more suitable for a 3-5-2 - which they sometimes play. Might benefit us more I suppose.

Sure, it's good enough to get the points. I just think McNair has done quite a good job and I would rather he play than Rojo. In LVG we trust.
Really? Mcnair who's played 5 first team appearances over Rojo who started in a world cup final 5 months ago?

Its a shame Falcao couldn't play, this is the kind of game that could of kick started his season big time.

No. If Falcao had of been fully fit today I'm fairly certain that we would have replaced him. And I also think that he still will against Stoke next week if RvP does nothing today.

Not getting the hysteria over Falcao not starting. Its pretty obvious he's not going to be rushed straight back into the team after his problems so far this season.

Gutted that Wilson seems to be injured (again).

When we are defending I expect:
    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Carrick - Rojo - Young
Mata - Fellaini - Rooney - Di Maria
    RVP

    In attack
    De Gea
    Smalling - Rojo
    Valencia - Carrick - Young
    Fellaini - Di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney - RVP

We will still have the diamond, Blind went deep and sat betwen the 2 CBs to create a quasi 3-5-2 when we were using the diamond.

    I'm pretty sure it's a 4-4-2 diamond/3-5-2 formation with Carrick stepping forward.

    -----------DDG------------
    --Smalling-Carrick-Rojo--
    Valencia------------Young
    ------Fellaini-Di Maria----
    -------------Mata---------
    --------Rooney-RvP------
Yeah, with the midfield something like that makes sense to me too. Carrick'll be varying between midfield and defence.

This? The 3-5-2 doesn't make sense to me because Fellaini, Mata and Di Maria does not look like a good midfield at all.
Looks a good, balanced midfield to me. In fact, I can't think of a more balanced midfield three.

Putting Wilson in my fantasy football team was a stroke of genius! Oh well, good points for me are Falcao on the bench, Di Maria (hopefully) not wide, and Fellaini keeping his place, despite the temptation to maybe rest him (though to be fair, Herrera is a good replacement).

I've been thinking about this lineup for the last 15 minutes and I haven't found a way to put those players into a sensible team. I really hope it’s not Mata-Rooney-RVP up top and Carrick as CB.

I agree but atleast wait until we got all strikers fit. With Wilson rumoured to be injured and Falcao just returning from injury he really doesn't have much choice but to play RvP unless he wants to play AdM in the Robben Role or something like that.

I can't believe he is going with three at the back again. It hasn't worked a single time. I can see why we did it against Arsenal, but we have enough players back now to play four in the back.

Seems the obvious formation, I can't understand how people are acting like its an insane team selection you cant build a formation out of. Carrick dropping deep to cover for the fact we're playing 2 wingers at full back

Van Persie is starting because Wilson picked up a knock and isnt in the squad! Falcao is coming back from injury and is only ready to play 10/20 mins. Everyone always moans about selection without thinking for the reason behind it.

The day you get promoted will be a dark one, i don't believe you are as stupid as you portray.. Our best player isn't a choice, its ADM and even if that was difficult I said he is being played out of position, u then dressed it's dramatised it and tried splitting it up and taking it out of context, you understood my first post and are trying to fasecious
    Alright.
    Have a good day.

If i'm not mistaken the lineup is delivered in the right order from defenders to attackers and from right to left.

    Therefore it's 3-5-2.

Are you sure? I swear I've got points from players starting when I've chosen them as subs...
