Happy with any combination as long as we play a back 4, play both Herrera + Fellaini, drop RVP.

I forgot we were playing Stoke a couple days later. My revised team:

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--McNair--Blackett
    Herrera--Carrick
    Mata
    Januzaj--Rooney--Di Maria

    or if we go 3-5-2

    De Gea
    McNair--Smalling--Blackett
    Valencia--Carrick--Herrera--Young
    Rooney
    Wilson--Di Maria

Let's hope yesterday was the start of a nice, long, winning streak. We deserve some luck after the horrible start we've had.

Rafael and Evans should be back in the matchday squad for this one (maybe Falcao too but only on the bench if at all I'd say). I expect the former to start.

We should have no problems against Hull, even in our situation. They haven't won in 4 or scored in their last 3. Hopefully we see a performance like we saw against QPR.

I don't think Van Gaal will drop RvP for the next game but will instead play him to regain his confidence.

Like those lineups. Herrera for Hull, then bring the muscle back in for Stoke. Would love to see what happens if the Stoke thugs try to kick lumps out of Fellaini.

great opportunity to get the win and point count up over the 4 day 2 game period.

That'd really put a bit of pressure on the top 4 rivals.

Nothing less than a dominant win in both home games is acceptable if we are to believe a corner has been turned

This won't be easy but we should edge it. Do we have any players back for this? Falcao, Herrera?

If we can lineup 11 fit players, we should win it. The next 2 games can give us a huge boost, I hope we do our job, the last weeks and the upcoming ones could be a season changer for us.

Hopefully Herrera is completely ready for this match, we really need him. Many interesting lineups here, Mata behind Wilson-Rooney is what I hope for in the attack. Think Wilson really deserves to start this match, specially now when VP doesn't look to be in great shape. Something in me also wants Januzaj in the 10 position behind Wilson and Rooney, but I think Van Gaal would go for Mata.

I don't think we need to rotate. We have enough injuries as it is, and no other football to worry about. Play our strongest XI.

We do because we have a game on the Saturday and Stoke on the Tuesday, playing the same side in both is asking for someone to get injured.

Let's be honest, someone will get injured regardless of who we put out there. I would hate to play a weaker XI and have it cost us points. No game will be a walk in the park this season, not yet anyway.

Could easily see our players coming into this feeling down but I hope they remember how well we played with 11 men and that we've got draws at the Emirates and Anfield and that that gives us belief.

If we don't back ourselves enough to play our best (ball-playing) team against a low-on-confidence Hull, then when will we?

Guess Rafael can play LB if Shaw is out ? Has he played there before ? I seem to vaguely remember a few times ?

His brother played both sides ofcourse so confusing a well.

I don't think he's a serious option there. Fabio played both sides a few times but I think Rafa was always on the right. Besides, if he moves to cover an injured Shaw that just leaves us needing someone to cover him, and we end up with two out-of-position FBs. Better to leave Rafa where he is and either trust Young (who's generally been ok as a makeshift defender this season) or gamble on a youngster.

I've got a feeling Shaw's injury won't keep him out for long though.

why on earth would you play Rafael out of position!
He has enough hard work staying in position and playing a few games in a row on the right, don't complicate it with a position move too!

Valencia can play RB and is doing decently well as deputy but Young as LB would be a disaster for me. He can work as Wingback but not as a fullback. That's why thought of shifting Rafael across.

Guess we could play Blackett, James or Vermijl there whoever LVG likes at LB.

Hope you are right about Shaw tho. Don't want a 3-5-2 vs next week's teams again and the drop off would be signficant at LB otherwise.

he walked off didn't he, so hopefully a week of treatment will get him ready.

having said that, Wilshere walked off, and the bbc reckoned that looked like a "serious" injury

Will we stick to 3-5-2 or was it just for that one match? Hoping for a 4-2-2 diamond with Mata as No.10 and Falcao and Rooney as strikers

Time to go back to two up top again and start creating some chances. I'd be tempted to start Wilson against this lot, see what he can do. If it's too soon for Falcao that is. Also, Herrera needs to play.

    -------------Carrick----------------
    ------Herrera----Di Maria---------
    -------------Rooney----------------
    ------Van Persie-Falcao-----------

    *Any news?

I know we like a challenge but playing with only 9 players is already way too much :nervous:

    Hoping Herrera play this game.

I want to see Smalling and McNair as our CB pairing for this. This left CB must be left footer need to stop when we have so many injuries. Blackett is just not ready to play there.

I actually would love to see RvP not being dropped and hopefully he can get one or two goals against our next two rivals and get some confidence and hopefully his best form back. Dont forget what such a world class striker he can be on his day.

If he doesn't deliver, maybe LvG will finally realize he needs to be dropped in favour of wilson or falcao.

But why isn't that already true? He's failed to perform in three or four games in a row now.

I would like to see this line-up.

    - - - - - - David De Gea - - - - - -
    Rafael - McNair - Smalling - Shaw
    - - - - - - - Carrick - - - - - - - -
    - - - - Di Maria - Herrera - - - - -
    - - - - - - - - Mata - - - - - - - -
    - - - - Rooney - Wilson - - - - - -

I think we need Rooney as a goalscoring striker since RvP isn't scoring anymore and Falcao is out.

Actually, I wonder if we can play Mata up front with Rooney, move Herrera to CAM and put Felliani next to ADM.

Has anyone even seen anything of Hull this season? I'm not even sure what to expect of them. Hopefully Shaw is fit, 3-5-2 at home just invites pressure a bit too much.

No more 2 steps forward 20 steps back please, build on this and solidify 4th place now that it is in our hands again. We also need to win the next 2/3 games with more than a 1 goal margin.
