So assuming we win this game (obviously no guarantee after the last one), we'll need 1 draw from the last 2 games, regardless of the other result. Annoying that we put ourselves in this situation by losing to the worst team in the competition.
Uniteds record in Turkey has been poor for decades, most annoying thing was gifting them two goals. To only need 4 points from the last 3 games is still a decent position to be in from what is the group of death in this seasons Champions league.

Agree, mate. The flip side is, if we lose, we undo all the work we did in the first two games and likely need 4 points against RBL and PSG. This really is a must-win game.

Good game to use the squad I think.

    AWB--------Tuanzebe-------Maguire--------Telles

    -------------------McT----------Pogba

    -------------------------------Martial

And then fail to break them down, lose 0-1 and make the PSG and Leipzig wins redundant as we crash out in bottom spot in a few weeks time.

This is a ridiculous idea. We have to play a strong team to win tonight and go through. If you want to rest players in important CL games, we might as well play in the Europa like Arsenal.

We will regardless fail to break down any team that is remotely close to a well organized outfit at OT.

Playing push-and-run Dan James over Rashford, lazy Pogba over Bruno and off-form Martial over Cavani sure isn’t going to help

We gotta rotate at some point, and the side posted is strong, maybe James out for Rashford.

Some rotation is needed. McT, Axel, Cavani and Mason to start (or some of them). But we need to win this game. And i think we will, just take the fecking chances when they come.

My main gripes were James and Pogba. James for obvious reasons, and Pogba because I think it’s clear by now that he just does not want to play for Manchester United. Also, if we have to rotate, surely Martial has to be dropped for Cavani. He’s the one who’s started the season the worst out of anyone in the squad bar Pogba.

Martial has had plenty of rest though so not the one rotated and needs to get into form, I do agree regarding pogba, but I’m hopeful he will at least play for a transfer next summer.

    Team I would play is:

    Henderson
    AWB Tuanzebe Maguire Telles
    Bruno McT VdB
    Greenwood Cavani Rashford.

No Dan James unless we have no other options. I love him as he’s a good lad, but he is just not good enough to play for us.

Of course he has but we have an experienced pro on the bench with more career goals than we can count, chomping at the bit to take the place of an off-form Martial. Surely after Martial’s recent games, he has to be dropped? WBA ought to have been the game where he regained form. He was awful.

It’s very annoying. I would have preferred a super defensive team going for a draw in the last match. I’ve never understood the priority to reach top4 and advance to next season’s CL, over the CL that is taking place right now.

We should really be able to beat Istanbul with that lineup. It also ensures that we don't have players like Bruno struggling for fitness in games where we will need him more. The side you quoted isn't exactly a very weak team either. - It has Pogba, VDB, Martial, Greenwood, Maguire, Telles, etc. Players who should technically be good enough to outplay Istanbul.

Pogba has to be played in an attacking position, we need to make him look good in order to sell him. He's awful in a 2 let's be honest.

Cavani, Henderson and VDB should definitely start. Tuanzebe probably starts too due to Lindelof's dodgy back. Maguire, Telles and AWB are shoo-ins due to lack of options.

Not sure what's going on with Greenwood and Pogba, but I'd go with Fred and Rashford if they can't play.

Ole's already hinted Bruno will be rested, but Martial has to play though. He's Off form and needs games.

    I'd go

    Henderson
    AWB Tuanzebe Maguire Telles
    McTominay Pogba
    Greenwood VDB Martial
    Cavani

I’d like to see Cavani get 90 minutes tonight. Hopefully Greenwood plays too as we really need him fit and firing. I reckon we win this comfortably tonight.

    Matic

    Greenwood Cavani Martial

Tempted to go with Henderson but he can have the domestic cups. De Gea is in good form & doesn’t really need a rest. Hopefully Martial can play himself into form. I would rest AWB but we don’t have a backup right back (weird)

Dont trust McT or Fred as single DM so needs to be Matic, unless you wanna play Pogba in a pivot, which I don’t.

Bruno gets a day off after carrying us for nearly a year. Rashford & Lindelof rest after their injuries. This is a good game to bring Greenwood back in for.

This is must win, those suggesting we play James are mad, its like playing with 10.

Let's get the game won, thats the priority.... we owe this team a good hiding and boy do we need to get some confidence in front of goal

Would go with this but Pogba for Bruno.
Was thinking about that for sure, but I just can’t bear to see him strolling around the halfway line without a care in the world anymore, playing the odd worldie Hollywood ball but largely giving it away and not tracking back. As we all say, his head is already in Madrid or Turin.

When you try to forecast what will be the potential results, you see that we lost a huge game at Istanbul.

If we win and PSG beat Leipzig tomorrow, the table will be :

    United 9
    PSG 6
    Leipzig 6
    Istanbul 3

Then, we receive PSG, worst case scenario, we lose and Leipzig beating Istanbul, meaning :

    PSG 9
    United 9
    Leipzig 9
    Istanbul 3

With the last game to play at Leipzig, with PSG hosting Istanbul, meaning a point away will qualify us thanks to our goal difference (currently +5 and Leipzig -2)

    PSG 12
    United 10
    Leipzig 10
    Istanbul 3
Ties are broken on head to head results, not GD. We are almost certainly going to have the head to head advantage over Leipzig, and likely over PSG as well given our two away goals.

    Must win.

We can start with a weakened team, but if we're not leading before 50 minutes then we must throw in the big guns ASAP.
